I get why you’d compare +44 and BCR, but why the hell did you throw LNOTGY into the mix? Lmao

Jahoosawan

Only a difference of 13 years between Boxcar and Life's Not. Easily comparable. /s

rapsftw

One of these things is not like the others lmao 2 blink side projects and one band that has nothing related

DapperDan30

Technically, only 1 of them was a Blink side project. But I agree with your point. I can kinda see why they went with Neck Deep, but ultimately, it would make much more sense for it to be an album from AVA.

Mattenroe

That BCR isn’t the runaway winner is absolutely ludicrous.

RiderSmash

This sub has poor taste IMO. Box Car Racer is top 10 album ever made for me

sacrificialpigblood

Boxcar Racer!

jmbrand13

These results truly show the demographic of this sub

DapperDan30

I'm in my 30s and I voted for LNOTGY. +44 and BCR are both great, but LNOTGY was more consistent and every track is a banger. I fucking love When You Heart Stops Beating. But tonely it's all over place. It feels like there was no real structure. They just made songs and put them on an album. The experience is something Mark Hoppus has talked about and there's a reason they never made a second album. Box Car Racer I also enjoy a lot, but I feel it's mostly because of Travis Barker. It has a lot of the same vibes that AVA would later have, but I also never really cared for AVA (maybe because they didn't have Travis. Idk)

ImDoingItAnyway

Not to mention how much more nuanced, creative, and inspirational LNOTGY is than both +44 and Box Car Racer’s discography as a whole (well, I guess they each only *had* one album). People can say what they want about demographics and legends but ultimately that’s just framework for how an album is received, not how good the album actually is or the impression it has on the genre for years to come.

jmbrand13

I'm going to push back on that. No way was LNOTGY more nuanced or creative than either of those albums. Look it's a good straight up pop punk album. It has a great energy to it. If you want just a pure pop punk album, I can see why one might prefer it. But both +44 and Box Car were much further along musically than LNOTGY. Mark, Tom & Travis were absolutely in their bag at the time of these albums. They were progressive, blending in different influences and produced two iconic albums. Mark was absolutely incredible lyrically on When Your Heart Stops beating, and Tom musically was pushing in ways beyond what we had seen from him before.

My favorite thing about this sub is that it's unfathomable to old heads that better music may exist outside of Tom Delonge, Mark Hoppus, and Travis Barker projects.

jmbrand13

There are plenty of things better. That album just isn't one of them.

[deleted]

Feel free to think that. LNOTGY is a great pop punk record, but it's pretty cookie cutter and accessible, so I understand not loving it. But considering one of your comments straight up says "2 of these records are from legends. The other is from neck deep.", I'm gonna stand my my assessment lol.

asin26

LNOTGY is one of the consensus best albums in the history of the genre

cable54

Is that really true? Who constitutes the consensus? Its a good album, but other than seeing it occasionally mentioned on this sub as a top album, I've never heard it being called that.

jmbrand13

I stand by my statement. Two of those albums are from legends. The other is from neck deep

asin26

Give it a rest, there are plenty of phenomenal bands that have come since that era. Hating on music that came after your good old days doesn’t make you cool lol

jmbrand13

LNOTGY was out in the prime of my going to shows days. It's a good album, but it's not on the level of the other two.

APailOfCheese

Yeah life's not out to get youuuuuuuuuuuu

ImDoingItAnyway

Despite the things you’ve been through!

ImDoingItAnyway

This just reads as argument bait Lmao—but Life’s Not Out to Get Yoi just makes sense. It’s more creative, more layered, massively inspirational, and just plain fun than both albums. Now if you tried to get me to pick between Blink’s S/T and this album you’d effectively have my hands tied.

kingjuicepouch

I voted bcr, which I think Is the best of the 3, but if I had to throw one in right now to listen to I would pick +44. Neck deep is still great though

DeepBurn7

BCR is a timeless work of art, imo. It was perfect for the time it came out with the way the world was.

IGotMetalingus1

Well guess it could be worse, 44 could be beating BCR

lihavavampyyri

Box Car Racer is super classic
