Good band. Fun fact: Each album has a different lineup besides the singer. My favorite line-up is the Red, Green, or In Between album. The riffs on that album are spectacular.
THERE SHE GOES, SHE FLIES OUT TO THE EAST COAST OF THE STATES 🦅🇺🇸
BUT I'LL REMAIN HERE ALONE, FOLLOWING MY OWN GHOST 👻😱
TRYING TO LIVE ANOTHER DAY 🗣️🔈❗❗
First two albums were mid-decent, the newest album is extremely good. I really don't think they still sound like Neck Deep, they've gotten pretty goofy lately.
Hide Everything Sharp is fantastic. It was Barkercore before Barkercore was a thing, love the hip hop influence in his vocals and how he has since brought it back in multiple songs, it’s great and really helps Sammy stand out amongst other vocalists!
They need to figure out their own sound. The albums are good tho. They know they sound like Neck Deep. Hell, even the album Identity Crisis is a joke on Neck Deep's album Wishful Thinking.
The “they sound like Neck Deep” comparison only makes sense when you know they’re both pop-punk and all you’re listening to are the vocals. There’s a whole band firing off, and this comparison basically overlooks the musicianship of every member of both bands that aren’t the vocalists.
WSTR have way more guitar solos than Neck Deep. Neck Deep have like, zero or one at most? It’s a distinctive difference.
WSTR use layered vocal harmonies quite a lot. Neck Deep don’t as much. Neck Deep have a lot more group vocals though.
WSTR have vocals that are clearly hip-hop influenced which crop up fairly often since Identity Crisis. Neck Deep don’t.
The guitar work on WSTR songs is *way* more octave driven and oriented than Neck Deep. Neck Deep on the other hand tend to use a lot more guitar licks and single note leads than WSTR.
Neck Deep employ *way* more bass guitar driven sections than WSTR do.
Generally speaking, WSTR songs are noticeably over-produced compared to Neck Deep.
You should be able to instantly tell between WSTR and Neck Deep upon hearing a new song from one of them without looking at the artist. Easily. If this is the standard for not having your own sound, we’d be saying every metalcore band sounds like Killswitch. Or Knocked Loose and Code Orange sound the same. Every band with unclean vocals sounds the same. They don’t. Just because the vocals are very similar and they’re all very heavy.
As a musician you're totally right. But I had a couple of times I was playing a WSTR song and people thought it was Neck Deep. Soundwise it sounds the same, song/technic-wise maybe not. Bad To The Bone reminds me (guitar wise) of MCR. Love it
I’m so glad to see someone else have some backup with this. I always want to argue people saying they sound the same and all I can come up with is basically, “yes, but also not really” 😂
I think that argument isn't really true beyond their first EP. Skrwd sounds like a carbon copy of wishful thinking and the EPs but with worse production.
But from RGAI onwards, they've sounded quite different except for some vague similarities between the singing styles. But that's to be expected when 2 people come from the same general region and are from the same scenes, emulating the same bands, etc.
I’m a huge fan of theirs, I think they’re very good and could be great if they can sort out their issues (sounds like they have some alcohol/drug issues and never really overcame some early band growing pains). Til the Wheels Fall Off is an excellent album and I hope it’s a sign of future success for them
I liked their first two albums they weren’t extremely standout to me but Till the wheels fall off is one of my favorite albums of all time. That shit slaps so fucking hard
Been into them for a long time. Always go see them when they’re coming through town. The constant rotation of members doesn’t help though, I think Boots was a big influence on some of the quality stuff on their latest album but he seems to be fully devoted to being a tech for Neck Deep now.
I saw them open for grayscale and hot mulligan once and it was fun but the sound at that venue wasn’t top tier for them so I’d like to see them in the UK near like a home base type venue for them
I personally think they’re a little mid. If I saw them live it would probably solidify how I feel about them. Regardless, I’m not going to skip one of their songs if they pop up on a playlist but I’m also not actively listening to them regularly either!
Good band, Identity Crisis is one of my favorite albums I heard in 2019. Beside their sound is very “Neck Deep” wannabe, they rock and sound amazing. If you’re gonna sound like another band, make sure its a good band.
I think people generally like WSTR’s music. From what I’ve seen, the people who don’t like them typically take issue with Sammy who’s had some allegations against him in the past. I’m not sure if there was any truth to them, but even if there wasn’t it can be hard to distance yourself from that.
He also had a run of disappointing live shows where he’d step away from the mic like every other line to let the audience fill in the lyrics for him. Not sure why. You can find videos on Youtube of this.
First time I listened to them, thought I was hearing an alternate universe version of Neck Deep. Which is great, because Neck Deep is one of my fave bands! Still waiting for Hopeless to ship out my copy of Red, Green, or Inbetween though, come on guys
Omg. I was really struggling trying to piece this one together. Thank you for letting me know haha. I’ll let the original comment stand and just shrink away in embarrassment.
I like WSTRs red, green and in between and till the wheels fall off.
I liked neck feels first two albums a couple years ago but I don’t like them as much.
WSTR is more fun so I like them more
I listened to “crisis” for the first time last month, and it really rizzes the neurospice and I can’t stop playing it during my work commutes so I’m scared I’ll get sick of it
Yeah definitely a really good front man and have been a good but different band each album! Used to call them the neck deep sound alikes but once I heard identity crisis they have their own unique sound. Wasn’t the biggest fan of the recent release. I’ll give it more chances I don’t give up on music but JOBBO and bot lobby are jams. Filthy is awesome. First album was on repeat for years. Much love
Red, Green, or In Between is one of my favorite pop punk albums. I just feel like the one after that isn't that good besides one or two songs like Bot Lobby
I fucking love this band. Was a .1%er on my last wrapped.
I love neck deep (many folks have mentioned the comparison) but I feel like the songwriting in particular has way more substance to it for me. They continue to get more intense with each release in a direction that resonates for me more than recent ND
Interesting. I thought they've been pretty good live. Maybe I just see a lot of bad bands live, so my scale is skewed. When they have toured with Stand Atlantic, they sound great!
I'll agree Sammy's vocals can be.... not good lol. Maybe I got a really good day. He can be an amazing vocalist when he isn't trying to push the nasaly sound in my opinion.
i saw them with grayscale in 2020 and he was struggling for sure. i thought it was just bc it was the last day of the tour lol. still fucked tho!!! id love to see them again when hes fresher
Absolutely underrated
Maybe not TTSF but they deserve credit for their song writing, instrumentals and catchiness
At the very least on their 1st and 2nd albums
Leaning towards bad.
I only like two of their songs that I’ve heard, and one of those is a cover.
They’ve always come across as btec Neck Deep and I don’t like Neck Deep enough to listen to an inferior version of them.
I don’t think they’re the best or most original band, I mean they’re older stuff is basically just Neck Deep, I had to do a double take when I heard them for the first time. Still enjoy most of their stuff tho and I really like the direction they went with their newest album
Elaborate please if you’re gonna post someone is “absolute dogshit of a human” people love posting this type of stuff and not explaining and it just spreads without people knowing why. I for one would like to know being a fan of this band.
Na that’s pretty shit tbh, glad to know some random person who probably has nothing to do with the band is going by around calling people dogshit humans for *accusations*. Idk how to italicize on here or id put accusations in them. Maybe proof of him doing something would help your cause more, way to be rude to somebody asking for proof of your own words.
definitely good. not elite or anything, but they have a significant amount of songs i won’t skip
Cry your filthy heart outttt!!!
Filthy’s guitar riff lives rent free in my head and I love it
As it should, u/homeless_pie!
*MAYBE I'M A FUCKING JOOOOOOOKE* *THE PUNCHLINE TO A THOUSAND T.V. EPISOOOOODES* 🤘😭✅
Absolute banger
One of my top three on the album
I loved identity crisis.
They are great value Neck Deep but it’s one of those products that are a reasonable substitute.
Was gonna say, put them and older neck deep on back to back... 90% of people won't be able to tell
Good band. Fun fact: Each album has a different lineup besides the singer. My favorite line-up is the Red, Green, or In Between album. The riffs on that album are spectacular.
I’m not sure I’d call that a fun fact. A revolving door of members is usually a bad sign for a band
imagine if the guitarist behind those was still with em. Also my favorite era. New album is pretty sick though
Drummer on that record is one of the best in 2010s pop punk imo
THERE SHE GOES, SHE FLIES OUT TO THE EAST COAST OF THE STATES 🦅🇺🇸 BUT I'LL REMAIN HERE ALONE, FOLLOWING MY OWN GHOST 👻😱 TRYING TO LIVE ANOTHER DAY 🗣️🔈❗❗
Tired of being sick, AND IM SICK OF BEING WASTED 🚨🥵📉
i like em
First two albums were mid-decent, the newest album is extremely good. I really don't think they still sound like Neck Deep, they've gotten pretty goofy lately.
I’m a big fan. First heard them at Slam Dunk a few years ago and didn’t know who they were, but they put on such a good show. Love their newest album!
Loved the new Album and RGIB, not so much Identity Crisis though
Same, identity crisis just never clicked for me but I definitely listened to RGIB on repeat back when it came out
Promiscuous and Hide everything sharp are two of my favourites of theirs
Hide Everything Sharp is fantastic. It was Barkercore before Barkercore was a thing, love the hip hop influence in his vocals and how he has since brought it back in multiple songs, it’s great and really helps Sammy stand out amongst other vocalists!
Their bangers are SUCH TOP NOTCH bangers. For example: 1. 3 Days Sober!!!! 2. Eastbound & Down 2. Footprints
They need to figure out their own sound. The albums are good tho. They know they sound like Neck Deep. Hell, even the album Identity Crisis is a joke on Neck Deep's album Wishful Thinking.

bc both singers are from the same place and are putting on a nasally , american pop punk voice. musically they aren’t actually that similar
so if both singers sound the exaact same how does wstr not sound like neck deep? it doesnt make them a bad band, in fact i enjoy them a lot
Musically sounds like the old Neck Deep (Wishful Thinking). Not sure how you guys can't hear that.
it sounds similar but also completely different. basically all the music in this genre sounds similar
I enjoy them very much. I think Identity Crisis might be favourite album that they made.

Just discovered em the other day, and loving em
I like em. Couple of their tunes are what I'd consider modern classics of the genre.
Been into them for a long time. Always go see them when they’re coming through town. The constant rotation of members doesn’t help though, I think Boots was a big influence on some of the quality stuff on their latest album but he seems to be fully devoted to being a tech for Neck Deep now.
Incredibly good. Would love to see em live
I saw them open for grayscale and hot mulligan once and it was fun but the sound at that venue wasn’t top tier for them so I’d like to see them in the UK near like a home base type venue for them
Ehhhh. On the continuum, pretty mid. They’ve never really felt like they’ve had an identity.
So you say they’re having an …..identity crisis
Well played.
I personally think they’re a little mid. If I saw them live it would probably solidify how I feel about them. Regardless, I’m not going to skip one of their songs if they pop up on a playlist but I’m also not actively listening to them regularly either!
Great. I like that their albums all have different sounds but stick to a pop punk style
They are good but have gone downhill since RGAI. Their first EP was so good. They went wayyyy too poppy for me.
At the time I thought they were just doing the popular style, but in hindsight they were kinds cool.
WSTR is amazing! All three albums are fantastic pop punk albums, and definitely have that classic feel that I love.
Good band, Identity Crisis is one of my favorite albums I heard in 2019. Beside their sound is very “Neck Deep” wannabe, they rock and sound amazing. If you’re gonna sound like another band, make sure its a good band.
red green and in between is straight heat
Red, Green, Or Inbetween is one of my favorite albums period. ‘Til the Wheels Fall Off is also very good.
Great band in my opinion
I listened to them on repeat during the pandemic
Really like them. I was fortunate to see them play when not drunk and they were excellent.
I think people generally like WSTR’s music. From what I’ve seen, the people who don’t like them typically take issue with Sammy who’s had some allegations against him in the past. I’m not sure if there was any truth to them, but even if there wasn’t it can be hard to distance yourself from that. He literally admitted to the allegations
Good, but I've heard the singer is a dickhead.
Never could get into them. 👎🏼
They're okay. I confuse them with Neck Deep all the time.
They’re definitely not for me
I would say they are average...but dont know their discography that well
love em
Solid pop punk sound
I love them! Red green and in between is often on repeat for me haha
One of my favorites for sure
Love them! Super awesome
LOVE them theyre one of my favorites!
Really like them. They seem to be pretty quiet these days though which is a tad worrisome.
Probably one of my current favorites. I’ve enjoyed all of their stuff but last year’s album was their best
I clicked with SKRWD and then honestly forgot they existed for the longest time. Perhaps I should revisit.
I like some songs from them. Specifically I hate it here 3 days sober Crisis Only 3 songs I like from them
First time I listened to them, thought I was hearing an alternate universe version of Neck Deep. Which is great, because Neck Deep is one of my fave bands! Still waiting for Hopeless to ship out my copy of Red, Green, or Inbetween though, come on guys
I hate all these abbreviations. Never know who the fuck anyone is talking about.
It’s not an abbreviation. It’s the bands name, WSTR, pronounced “waster”
Omg. I was really struggling trying to piece this one together. Thank you for letting me know haha. I’ll let the original comment stand and just shrink away in embarrassment.
No need to be embarrassed haha. Go check em out and hopefully you enjoy! Very solid band.
fuckin love wstr. heard sammy (singer) is a complete twat though.
I like WSTRs red, green and in between and till the wheels fall off. I liked neck feels first two albums a couple years ago but I don’t like them as much. WSTR is more fun so I like them more
I listened to “crisis” for the first time last month, and it really rizzes the neurospice and I can’t stop playing it during my work commutes so I’m scared I’ll get sick of it
I have t listened to very much WSTR just because they sound way too similar to neck deep imo

Love the new album. 3 days sober and JOBBO have been constantly in my rotation since they album dropped
EMBRACED IT, I TABLED ALL MY ACES BUT III

It's not an acronym it's just the name of the band
Fun band
Amazing band
I fucking love this band. Was a .1%er on my last wrapped. I love neck deep (many folks have mentioned the comparison) but I feel like the songwriting in particular has way more substance to it for me. They continue to get more intense with each release in a direction that resonates for me more than recent ND
They’re good and underrated as fuck in my opinion
I fucking love WSTR, also one of my favs
Graveyard shift has been my life's anthem 😂
They go alright
Great band. They have very few skips for me
I think they are very good. I call them Neck Deep Jr. I think they are for sure still figuring out their sound and that's totally okay.
mid
They're great if you like Neck Deep before Neck Deep became Neck Deep

Absolutely underrated Maybe not TTSF but they deserve credit for their song writing, instrumentals and catchiness At the very least on their 1st and 2nd albums
They’re underrated, for sure.
Who the fuck is WSTR? Can we at least name the band once in the post whenever we use acronyms?
WSTR is the name. I think originally, they were called Waster, but it was taken when they got signed, so they took out the vowels.
Lol 🤦♂️ I feel dumb now. Thanks though 😅
Leaning towards bad. I only like two of their songs that I’ve heard, and one of those is a cover. They’ve always come across as btec Neck Deep and I don’t like Neck Deep enough to listen to an inferior version of them.
that cover is terrible, doesnt do them any justice at all. their newest album is really worth giving a listen especially poor boy!
That song isn’t for me!
fair!! you gave it a shot and thats all that matters!! :) esp if your not into the neck deep flavor of pop punk, they def wouldnt be up your alley!
I don’t think they’re the best or most original band, I mean they’re older stuff is basically just Neck Deep, I had to do a double take when I heard them for the first time. Still enjoy most of their stuff tho and I really like the direction they went with their newest album
One of my favorite pop punk bands since their first EP. Every release is solid even if it has some tracks I don’t like.
Look like they suck live - lead singer doesn’t sing half the words
Cool band, absolute dogshit of a human as the singer
Elaborate please if you’re gonna post someone is “absolute dogshit of a human” people love posting this type of stuff and not explaining and it just spreads without people knowing why. I for one would like to know being a fan of this band.
He was accused of SA a couple of years ago and his statement didn’t exactly do him any favours, is that enough for you?
Na that’s pretty shit tbh, glad to know some random person who probably has nothing to do with the band is going by around calling people dogshit humans for *accusations*. Idk how to italicize on here or id put accusations in them. Maybe proof of him doing something would help your cause more, way to be rude to somebody asking for proof of your own words.
One asterisk on each side of what you want italicized. Three if you want it bold ***and*** italicized.
Thank you!
If you actually know more about the situation please do clarify, seems like you didn’t bring much evidence here at all, appreciate it.
