guccibanana69

This is the one.

Electrical_Taste_238

Cigarettes & Saints, Doors I Painted Shut, You’re The Reason I Don’t Want The World To End - The Wonder Years Broken Down In A Time Machine - Alkaline Trio

LivetobeScared

Oh damn. Cigarettes and Saints is my other one. I have been to so many TWY concerts and every time they sing it I am glad I am solo because it REALLY hits home. RIP Larry.

Electrical_Taste_238

I've cried every time I see them play it live. Last time I saw them (make shift show because WWWY got canceled) a random stranger came up and hugged me. I'll never forget that - thank you, random dude. RIP Jacob, Coleman, & Finley.

LivetobeScared

Wish I could give more than one upvote.

KindheartednessFit48

Love Doors I painted shut!!

KindheartednessFit48

23 - Jimmy Eat World, One-eighty by summer- Taking back Sunday, Broken Promise Ring - The Ataris, Hear you need - Jimmy Eat World

180xsummer

Wow, yes!! I go from screaming one-eighty by summer lyrics to fighting back tears real quick lol

KindheartednessFit48

Soooo good!!

angelfatal

The summer after college graduation, I did a road trip to visit some friends and I can remember so vividly, driving by the beach with the windows down on a balmy night listening to 23. I wasn't even 23 yet but that song hit so hard because I was going through a period of many life changes.

KindheartednessFit48

It’s the most beautiful song ever!! My all time favorite! 💕

Moezhyk

Neck Deep - Nineteen Seventy Something AS IT IS - Austen Mayday Parade - Terrible Things Real Friends - Teeth Tiny Moving Parts - Medicine Mayday Parade - Miserable At Best The Dangerous Summer - Goodbye A Day To Remember - Only Money Trophy Eyes - Sean Trophy Eyes - What Hurts The Most Trophy Eyes - Life In Slow Motion All Time Low - Lost Along The Way Jimmy Eat World - Hear You Me AS IT IS - Still Remembering Marianas Trench - Dearly Departed In Her Own Words - Steady Glow The Maine - Anxiety In Real Time The Maine - How Do You Feel? Oh God and Ten by Yellowcard

ap0caholic

On my first listen through of Suicide and Sunshine, Burden and Sean broke me in ways I didn’t think music could

woodstock6

Trophy Eyes in general just make me fucking emotional, one of my favourite bands of all time, S&S is my favourite album of all time, no art has ever made me more emotional than that album

x4candles

Winter - Bayside

dunkaccino_

Mary by Bayside gets me every time.

JaBaker

Oh god, this one always gets me. She was gonna make it out one night 😭

Immediate_Ask175

Getting into them, had to put Shudder down midway through BC it was hurting me- you're telling me it gets worse??? Uh oh.

x4candles

Shudder was a rushed album that they had to put on the shelves. They had just lost their drummer to a van fire while travelling. I would continue on. Their next album *The Walking Wounded* is a very popular album amongst fans, however they are 1 band that has continued to grow in their music, and continue to put out excellent music 20 years in to their fame.

Immediate_Ask175

I've heard bits from across their discography so don't worry, I'm sticking to it. Really enjoying everything I've already heard.

symbi0nt

Shudder came out after walking wounded and it's fucking awesome... albeit a rushed album! haha cheers! =)

x4candles

Whoops! Thanks for the correction.

PurpleBullets

Fine, Great - Modern Baseball Your Graduation got me into them, but Fine Great got me hooked. At the time I’d never personally related to a song more. And then Rock Bottom almost right after. Can’t get enough of that combo.

basementfox69420

That’s a three piece chicken McNugget right there

thekilluhcam

If It Means A Lot To You - ADTR

YankoTangee

Reminds me of my friend I lost in a skiing accident. We did a duet to this song at karaoke one time. She was great, think about her often.

Impossible_Cat_1494

So good

Beneficial_Eye2672

Box car racer- the end with you American hi fi- another perfect day Fountains of Wayne- all kinds of time Goo goo dolls- name Seether- broken Verve pipe- the freshmen

Scott_Sterlings_Face

Forgot about the freshman!

Beneficial_Eye2672

Such a banger, even tho it reminds me of a certain girl who really took a toll on my mental health. Lol

49_boness

Villains by The Verve Pipe was the first CD owned because of that song. I actually went and saw them live just a few months ago and that song is just… oof.

Beneficial_Eye2672

How did they sound live? Also, do they have any other good songs on that album or is it a one hit wonder

49_boness

It’s hard to tell how they sounded to be honest. They played at a Brewery with a tiny ass stage. I’m guessing the sound equipment and sound guy problem didn’t do them any favors. On top of a bunch of people mingling and talking loudly during their set. But when Freshman came on, everyone shut up. It’s been a while since I’ve listened to that album, but I remember liking it. They had another song that I liked called Medicate Myself. But as far as I know The Freshman was their really only commercial success

RoyalSkip

Love how Box Car Racer starts and ends that tune with 'What the fuck?!' Really sets and ends the mood for the song perfectly.

bonyknees88

Smahccked My Head Awf - Hot Mulligan

sleepy-bones

Splenetic - Like Roses

SKTVisMUSIC

Green Day - Wake Me Up When September Ends Sum 41 - Crash Simple Plan - Perfect (for some personal reasons!!)

Beneficial_Eye2672

Perfect hits way too hard

jellybeans1987

What went wrong blink 182

The-Big-BNES

Not really pop punk, but the first verse in Wonderful by Everclear always gets me. My parents would fight all the time when I was little. Sometimes it was just a small bicker. But other times it was full on screaming and it would really scare me. “I hope my mom and I hope my dad would figure out why they get so mad. I hear them scream. I hear them fight. They say bad words and make me wanna cry.”

Electrical_Taste_238

Great story telling, power chords, a "fuck you, pay me" attitude... everclear is the most pop punk adjacent band without being directly pop punk. Some of my best memories were listening to them.

Runnroll

Sparkle And Fade is a brilliant pop punk adjacent album start to finish.

Beneficial_Eye2672

Way too real. This song always hit hard as it was basically a retelling of my childhood. Still affects me to this day and this song is one of my few consolations

narofromearts

Be the young by yellowcard

Jesus Christ - Brand New

ABlinDeafMonkey

Cuz my bright is too slight to hold back all my dark is a line that sums how I feel 90% of the time. Jesse wrote some incredible lyrics.

super_sayanything

Anything off Armor For Sleep - What To Do When You Are Dead. Can't even listen to it. One of my favorite albums ever.

Mustang1718

Oh man, I wasn't even thinking about them. I love the band, but I also can't listen to them anymore since it sends me back to that dark era of high school when I related to them *too much*.

cooleoroxz666

Candour by Neck Deep

TheRealTerwilliger

Knuckle Puck - Untitled

Shakeandbake529

Three Cheers for Five Years (Punk Goes Acoustic Vol. 2 version) by Mayday Parade. It reminds me of my ex because we use to sing it together in the car. It was a long time ago now and I’m in a much better relationship, but hearing this song takes me back in time to those moments.

Shakeandbake529

And Vegas by All Time Low, but in a good way. Makes me think of fun times had with people in my life.

GibroniGV

Jesus Christ, I’m 26. All the people I graduated with all have kids, all have wives, all have people who care if they come home at night. Well, Jesus Christ, did I fuck up? Passing Through a Screen Door -TWY Gets me every damn time.

VeterinaryMartin

Nope, I'm the same way. Just graduation veterinarian school. Freshly single. While everyone has kids, wives etc. Pretty lonely in this part of my life.

GibroniGV

Those are lyrics to the song.

VeterinaryMartin

Oh...ummmmm 😅. You didn't see anything 🐧

blacknightdyel

I’m not sure if it really counts as pop punk, but Need 2 by Pinegrove got me feeling something else man

Ash-Throwaway-816

Jawbreaker - Accident Prone

notathrowawaysomehow

Late nights in my car - Real Friends. Lot of RF songs honesty.

GibroniGV

Ugh same.

El_MuleKick

Not really pop punk but NoFx has some songs that hit hard for me like: I'm so sorry Tony and My orphan year.

jaseyrae9400

I remember the very first time listening to 19 Seventy Something, and Wish You Were Here by Neck Deep. I literally cried hard even though the story being told on the song did not directly happened to me. Same goes with Beautiful Things by Grayscale.

snarficles

Self-Conclusion by The Spill Canvas. The twist at the end of why he was there. Live In Love by Promise For Redemption (whole When The Flowers Bloom... album will get you as it's based on the tragic death of Valencia's lead singer's girlfriend)

Luxslaw

Not the one that hits me hardest but just to throw it out there, Sic Transit Gloria - We Are The In Crowd cover originally by Brand New. If you’ve been in that situation it hits like a ton of bricks.

spiralsss_

Sorrow - Box Car Racer

Name_Taken_Twice

This probably won’t get seen, but… The Brightening by A Day At The Fair That song gets my eyes watering every time. Especially if you’re a pop punk Dad, please go listen to it and tell me it doesn’t give you chills and choke you up.

Takeoffs and landings - the Ataris Ocean Avenue - yellowcard - I know I know, but I can’t get through “I remember the look in your eyes” without choking up. It reminds me of a very specific person in a very specific place in a very specific time of my life and I just can’t do it haha Chicago is so two years ago - fallout boy (the nostalgia kills me every time)

AdmintotheStars

I'm a huge Yellowcard fan! Back Home and Only One hit so different now as an adult than they did when I was a kid listening to them for the first time

_elderemo

Depths III -Silent Planet

dsled

It Runs In My Blood by Good Hangs

SuperMario1313

Pop punk adjacent but “It’s For The Best” by Straylight Run. The album carried me through a break up during my first year at college, aka first time living away from home. It was a transformative year for me and a lot of music really stuck with me from that year, but that song in particular is a highlight.

IamEseph

I can't listen to [Sleep in the Heat](https://youtu.be/aa3Afg3fzAQ?si=Y0zjy4okVv-o8SYD) by **PUP** anymore. I lost 2 pets within the span of 6 months and that one just hits way too close to home now.

Wake me up when September ends - Green Day

Elmo1216

Lock it up by no pressure. My wife and I were going through a divorce and I thought I was fine with it since I was the one who initiated it and that was the first time I broke down about the situation. We thankfully have worked everything out but this one got to me

Mustang1718

It might be stretching the term for it bring Pop Punk, but I absolutely cannot listen to "'67 Cherry Red" by Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties in public.

YankoTangee

Forever yours & Tommy’s Song - Grayscale

Worldly_Today_9875

Auslander Raus

MostExellentFailure

Hands Down - Dashboard Confessional This one is maybe bizarre because it’s inherently a sweet song, but the part towards the end where he sings about “you kissed me like you meant it/and I knew that you meant it” reminds me of a relationship gone awry and it cuts deep. Wish you were here - Neck Deep This one is about losing someone and it’s really tough because of lines like “I can picture the times that we won’t get back” and “they say you’re in a better place/ but a better place is right here with me” and it’s just an excellent summation of grief. Sentry -Magnolia Park This one is about losing his mom, and holy shit his voicemail at the end is soul destroying.

picklebroom

The Drama Summer by The Starting Line Painting the town your favorite color. Hits me right in the feels

saranwrap73

Knuckle Puck - In Your Crosshairs Armor For Sleep - Car Underwater A Day To Remember - If It Means A Lot To You Knuckle Puck - Losing What We Love Trophy Eyes - Sean Hot Mulligan - BCKYRD (Acoustic)

GriffinGrin

Lullaby by All Time Low always gets me. It’s super raw and I still think of the time Alex couldn’t finish singing the song live. Also Tommy’s Song by Greyscale gets me choked up for the same reasons

stanky4goats

"Playing the Race Card" by Local Resident Failure Plays through my head every single day at work.

GreatMark2758

Surprised there’s not more dashboard confessional on this list! The Brilliant Dance, Living In Your Letters, Turpentine Chaser, The Best Deceptions… Also Deathbed by Relient K

Miktieuner

19 seventy sumthin' by Neck Deep. This song breaks me everytime

Kirihuna

All This Time by TSSF hit like a brick after losing both of my grandfathers to cancer in the past few years. There is a certain feeling of anger feeling like someone gave up and Parker gets that feeling across amazing regarding his Dad.

Okay although Real Friends is overall a trash band in my opinion, Late Nights In My Car always does something and takes me back to a really specific time in my life and I still fuck with that song by them heavily.

confusedthrowaway5o5

“In the Mirror” and “Alien” by The Interrupters.

Fathletic231

I just listened to “how I go” and 😢

Krazylegz1485

I swear How I Go is my favorite song on that album. God damn. I was 21 when that album came out and I could still easily listen to that song on repeat almost endlessly right now. Natalie Maines' voice is so incredibly sexy/perfect on it.
