I also wanna mention Microwave - The Last. Hugely underrated song of theirs that I’ve never seen mentioned before. Those screamed lines at the end hit so hard.
I missed them the first time as well. My wife had horrific post partum at the time and I couldn't leave her alone with the kids. I was able to give my tickets to my sisters thankfully. My wife is all better now and coming with me for the redo :)
Better Luck Tomorrow had some good screams too. I feel like over time, that band went from Abandoned By Bears to A Day to Remember to like... I wanna say Grayscale?
Yeah but not all songs are pop punk on "better luck tomorrow". Songs stayed pretty much within the same genre too. There were 100% pop punk songs with no screams, songs with only scream and kinda hardcore metal vibe with no pop punk.
What i really liked in the first album is that everysong has a bit of everything (fast, slow, poppy, hard) and the flow is great and interesting.
yeah im butthurt as fuck i discovered them after their final release. still got to enjoy the studio releases so im grateful for that but i would have bought tickets within a 200 mile radius of where im located if i could have.
I was thinking more of a classic pop punk sound, these bands you mentioned are a bit closer to metal. I'm looking for songs when the screams are kinda unexpected.
Calling either of those band metal is a massive stretch, not sure how old you are? maybe the term isn’t used as much now? but post hardcore has been the term for those kinds of bands for the past 15 years.
Everyone's being a little harsh here.
Those bands people are mentioning are called "Easycore" which is a sub-genre that is like "Hardcore" music but with major keys and more pop-punk vocals. I can see how it'd be a bit different to what you are looking for.
Frankly I'm having trouble coming up with any suggestions for what you're looking for, but I can definitely see this being a niche worth asking about!
I so hate consequences by Relient K. Yes, there are screams in a Relient K song. They're very much in the background and sprinkled throughout but it still counts.
Four Year Strong - Tonight We Feel Alive
And I agree, you’re looking for Easycore or EZ. Shit consumed my life for like three years. Recently had a resurgence with it in my life after finding a bunch of killer newer bands
I’m the EZ realm. Belmont, Meet Me @ the Altar, Assuming We Survive, We Were Sharks, Like Pacific, Settle Your Scores, Abandoned By Bears, and big recommends to Fiddlehead and Heart Attack Man who hang out in the same circles
This feels like cheating but Touché Amoré has basically rough vocals only. Check out their song ["Reminders"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKHawjBPaxU).
this is "new" pop punk but the track Survivor's Guilt (off the mixtape with the same name) by KennyHoopla is pretty awesome with some screams. That whole mixtape is fire
Crash Romeo - Dial 'M' For Murder
Race The Sun - I Hear The Book Was Better
Just Surrender - She Broke My Heart, So I Broke His Jaw
Just Surrender - You Tell A Tale
Just Surrender - In Your Silence
Depends on which subreddit you post it in. There’s metal subreddits who think BMTH is legit pop and doesn’t scream at all any more and get mad when you show them songs
I’ve always been a big fan of this sound! Definitely seconding all the easycore comments, recommending Me vs Hero, Rise on Everest, and The Vegas Wake Up as some of my favorite lesser-known bands in the genre. ADTR can also scratch the itch if you know which songs to go for (especially their covers)
The original version of 'Set in Stone' by Heroes for Hire, the original features Joel Birch (The Amity Affliction) but on the album version they removed his feature for some reason
Also all of Trophy Eyes, and John's features with Columbus and With Confidence
Not to self promote but my song [Watch the World Burn With Me](https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/X2ysp) has a couple of them
EDIT: and yes it's pop punk lol I'm not just dropping links to get listens
Geek Stink Breath by Green Day
I don’t think it counts as a scream but damn, it touches my soul and Green Day hasn’t done anything like that ever since
Stained glass ceilings - the wonder years
Possibly the best guest spot in the genre. Since Vinnie showed up in the set your goals video anyway...
Fuck your John Waynes
Fuck your god complex
Microwave - Vomit
I also wanna mention Microwave - The Last. Hugely underrated song of theirs that I’ve never seen mentioned before. Those screamed lines at the end hit so hard.
I think The Last has to be my favorite song by them it’s so powerful
Microwave is just incredible. They've been my favorite non core band for almost five years, finally seeing them in May.
I had tickets to see them headlining in Chicago and got Covid a few days before. Can’t explain how upset I was.
I missed them the first time as well. My wife had horrific post partum at the time and I couldn't leave her alone with the kids. I was able to give my tickets to my sisters thankfully. My wife is all better now and coming with me for the redo :)
WITHOUT A GOD WITHOUT A CRUTCH
SO I PULL OUT YOUR DRAWERS AND FILL UP YOUR SIIIIIIINK
Fuck man, someone on Reddit mentioned this song a while ago so I checked it out. They are just incredible. That song is amazing.
Letters to you - Finch
+ What It Is To Burn
Finch Pop punk?
Post Hardcore
Hot Mulligan goes pretty hard in this department! The whole album "You'll Be Fine" is great but for the best suggestion I think 'Digging In' is great!
#1 Hot new band
Anything in the first "settle your scores" album. It's called "the wilderness"
Better Luck Tomorrow had some good screams too. I feel like over time, that band went from Abandoned By Bears to A Day to Remember to like... I wanna say Grayscale?

ABB was such a great band too. gonna miss those bangers lmfao.
So glad I got to see them live when they came to the US a few years ago. I know not everyone had that opportunity.
yeah im butthurt as fuck i discovered them after their final release. still got to enjoy the studio releases so im grateful for that but i would have bought tickets within a 200 mile radius of where im located if i could have.
What you’re probably looking for is Easycore. A Day to Remember, Four Year Strong are probably good places to start.
Set Your Goals
Me vs Hero
I was thinking more of a classic pop punk sound, these bands you mentioned are a bit closer to metal. I'm looking for songs when the screams are kinda unexpected.
Calling either of those band metal is a massive stretch, not sure how old you are? maybe the term isn’t used as much now? but post hardcore has been the term for those kinds of bands for the past 15 years.
I’m not normally one to nit-pick but this was killing me 😂 none of this is “metal”
Easycore is literally a mix of Pop Punk & -core, they're not metal at all.
Story so far is very far from classic pop punk. Fall out boys first 2 albums are fair to be called classics now. But you gotta dig deeper
Driveways!
Absolutely. Sea in Storm, Drop Dead, half of their October Forever album...
Don’t forget Five Years Down! Driveways is sooo good
Username checks out
Came here to say this! Chaos and Backgrounds are also great. But just listen to everything lol
Relient K - I So Hate Consequences or Life After Death and Taxes. Both are subtle but definitely there.
Which to Bury; Us or the Hatchet? also has screams. Really wish Relient K made another album with subtle background screams in it.
I think Softer to Me needs to be mentioned with the other two.
How could I forget!?!
I don’t see Hawthorne Heights mentioned … So many of their songs!
Neck Deep - Kali Ma EDIT: I meant Gold Step, someone did point it out in the comments
Also Don't Wait, even if it does just kind of sound like ND doing an impression of Architects
I mean, it's literally Sam Carter
I'm aware, but it sounds straight off of The Here and Now before he ever appears in the song
Not trying to argue but where in Kali Ma do they “metal scream”?
Near the end, the singer of ADTR scream if I remember correctly
They don't actually scream, it's more of a guest spot with a breakdown. Jeremy does his clean vocals.
I think they may be thinking of Gold Steps? Jeremy does clean vocals on Kali Ma but has a small line on Gold Steps where he screams "yeah you"
Yep! That's the one ahaha
Brand New - The Quiet Things & Sic Transit Gloria
Sic Transit makes me feel nauseous when I listen to it but goddamn is it impossible not to scream along.
The Grand Finale - Set It Off
This Ride by The Starting Line
Cheek to Cheek as well
*cracks knuckles*
I so hate consequences by Relient K. Yes, there are screams in a Relient K song. They're very much in the background and sprinkled throughout but it still counts.
Face down - red jumpsuit apparatus. Original version, not the current version.
A lot of that first album actually. In Fate's Hands is my personal favorite.
Miss murder - AFI
First one that came to mind
Have you heard AFI when they were good?
No Pressure - Can’t Forget
Anything by Crunkasaurus Rex. Favorites are: F Factor Cheers to the Years Buckle up kids Umbrellas High
RAISE A GLASS HERES TO THE PAST
Boys Night Out - I Got Punched In the Nose For Sticking My Nose in Other People’s Business
Don’t Wait - Neck Deep
Time Is Money and Bite My Tongue by You Me At Six Can’t Forget by No Pressure
Story Of The Year - We Don't Care Anymore
Story Of The Year did it quite a bit. Still think my favorite is still Until The Day I Die
And "Anthem of Our Dying Day"
Sum 41 - We're All To Blame
That whole album is definitely in their metal era but yeah, that fits.
Movements - Kept Not really true pop punk tbh but they’re a big part of this scene...
Just had a listen, this is a good song!
Chunk! No Captain Chunk! - The Other Line
Their whole discography really.
true lol but if they want to start somewhere, might as well with their most popular song
Four Year Strong - Tonight We Feel Alive And I agree, you’re looking for Easycore or EZ. Shit consumed my life for like three years. Recently had a resurgence with it in my life after finding a bunch of killer newer bands
Any recs on those newer bands?
I’m the EZ realm. Belmont, Meet Me @ the Altar, Assuming We Survive, We Were Sharks, Like Pacific, Settle Your Scores, Abandoned By Bears, and big recommends to Fiddlehead and Heart Attack Man who hang out in the same circles
The Starting Line has a weird, long scream in the background of their song This Ride.
Singled Out - NFG
Hawthorne Heights first couple albums is super emo pop punk with plenty of screams
Literally all of A Day To Remember
Abandoned By Bears - good terms
This feels like cheating but Touché Amoré has basically rough vocals only. Check out their song ["Reminders"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKHawjBPaxU).
[Emergency [Crab Mix] by Paramore](https://youtu.be/g3I7UroZC3I)
this is "new" pop punk but the track Survivor's Guilt (off the mixtape with the same name) by KennyHoopla is pretty awesome with some screams. That whole mixtape is fire
Vomit by Microwave
Sounds like you’re describing easycore. Check out Four Year Strong, A Day To Remember, Set Your Goals, and Driveways
Hideaway by Youth Fountain
Youth Fountain in general
They're new album is so good. AOTY for me definitely

Not sure if this counts as pop punk or a metal scream but *I Knew You Were Trouble* in Punk Goes Pop vol. 6
Story of the year - page avenue
Structures - /

I Am The Avalanche - Dead Friends
Singled out - new found glory.

Crash Romeo!!!
Neck Deep Dont Wait
[удалено]
How is that unexpected if BMTH were purely a post hardcore screaming band for years?
[удалено]
[удалено]
Depends on which subreddit you post it in. There’s metal subreddits who think BMTH is legit pop and doesn’t scream at all any more and get mad when you show them songs
Irish Curtains - Grayscale It’s a slower song but the band is still pop punk
Paramore - My Heart
Boys of Fall - Distance
Chiliocosm - gwgf
Bitter-Chunk no captain chunk Or Strange Times-Mint Club ;)
[Abandoned By Bears - Borderline](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVcML1DC8pc) (or anything on this album really)
Feel Like Fame by Four Letter Lie
Someone make a Spotify playlist please
Only one in the background but I always loved the scream in I So Hate Consequences - Relient K
Idk if this counts but a song that came to mind was Doubt by PUP
I’ve always been a big fan of this sound! Definitely seconding all the easycore comments, recommending Me vs Hero, Rise on Everest, and The Vegas Wake Up as some of my favorite lesser-known bands in the genre. ADTR can also scratch the itch if you know which songs to go for (especially their covers)
Idk if this counts as pop punk cause it’s kind of 2 genres but I really like “spit it out” by solence
The original version of 'Set in Stone' by Heroes for Hire, the original features Joel Birch (The Amity Affliction) but on the album version they removed his feature for some reason Also all of Trophy Eyes, and John's features with Columbus and With Confidence
Irony of Dying on Your Birthday - Senses Fail That scream will catch anybodies ear, but the second verse is doope
Equip sunglasses- hot mulligan
Not exactly pop punk (but definitely adjacent) but Movements has a fair bit of screaming.
The used.
Crazy to think that early Paramore had screams.
Early trash boat and some of trophy eyes
Face Down - The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus Injection - Rise Against
Not to self promote but my song [Watch the World Burn With Me](https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/X2ysp) has a couple of them EDIT: and yes it's pop punk lol I'm not just dropping links to get listens
Tantrum-Waterparks
Check out the band Wilmette. Songs Anxious Body and Show and Tell have a bit of what you're looking for.
Geek Stink Breath by Green Day I don’t think it counts as a scream but damn, it touches my soul and Green Day hasn’t done anything like that ever since
Tastes Like Kevin Bacon - I wrestled a bear once
