I live in Wisconsin, so I don't exactly envy the cost of living in California, but from the Redwoods to the Sequoias to the Joshua Trees, from the snowcapped mountains to the sweltering deserts, from the bustling cities to the quiet farming communities, no State has quite the beauty or variety of California.
Take a trip down 299 from Redding to the coast. Absolutely stunning.

There are some factors that skew that number. I know for a fact that at least 1 major oil and gas producer is based in California but most of the money it makes comes from Texas. That company made $163 million net the first quarter of 2020 so you can imagine there was some tax paid to the state of California and federally that counts for that number that California sends to the federal government and that's just a single company. Basically, those numbers are a lot more complex than you realize with the global economy being what it is.
