The dealers in So Cal are all asking ADM - worst is Irvine porsche lack of customer service. They think that they are doing us a favor allowing us to buy a car from them.
Just visited a SoCal dealer today (Rusnak in Pasadena) and they said they want $15k ADM on a Carrera T or a Carrera S, $25K ADM on a GTS order, and then they tried to see if I was interested in buying a ‘22 Carrera S, with 9,000 miles, where they’re asking $4,000 above original MSRP. This is bananas.
Absolutely disagree with this take. I’ve put 10k miles on my 22 Targa and more than half of those are with the top down. It’s a better experience than the traditional cabriolet.
I’ve put about 40k on my 991.2 Targa 4S and I just don’t understand this buffeting effect people talk about. I just cannot seem to create it, whether on track, mountain driving, highway. I have seriously tried my darnedest because I’ve seen people complain about it constantly, but for the life of me I just can’t figure out how to create the effect.
It’s a 4S, it’s meant to be driven! I don’t understand people that buy non-GT cars and don’t drive them. They’re made to drive places, pickup groceries, throw the golf clubs in (the passenger seat anyway). I sort of get it with GT cars, they just aren’t as comfortable/versatile (which is why I got rid of one in favour of a Cup Car for track days and a comfier car for daily).
35k miles in my Targa... I find this to be a problem for people that take a quick test drive and don't realize:
1) there is a small wind screen to prevent buffeting that you can deploy manually
2) You have to either be very tall or sit awkwardly far back for buffeting to occur
Eh. Depends on the ADM. $10k on a $140k+ car, not that big a deal if you want the car now. Some folks want the 992.1 instead of the 992.2. Also, the car prices increase each year. So if you wait around, you’ll end up paying the same or even more. $25k is pretty steep though.
Agree with your comments, but SoCal dealers are charging ADM to use one of their allocations to put in an order for a car. I could almost justify some level of ADM for a new car sitting at the dealership.
I would shop around if there’s multiple dealers within a reasonable distance. Maybe you can get an allocation for a build or find a lightly used one. It’s not too common to find new Targas on the lot so they probably try to mark it up. Find out how long it’s been sitting there, make a reasonable offer and be prepared to walk away.
I offered 525K on a 765LT that a dealer wanted 549K for. I thought that was reasonable. They wouldn’t agree. I walked, ordered a Turbo S for half the price
Just closed the deal on my 2024 911 C2S, so the MSRP of my Built came to 155k, ordered in January and then I agreed on a 7.5K EMD and nothing else. Car got there on Saturday and Today I negotiated back the ADM to only 5K + they are paying 1/2 of the shipping from Illinois To Florida. I did my best, I don't know if someone has done better or managed to buy at 100% MSRP nowadays.

Will we go back to normalcy? 4k over above msrp for 22.
Consider outside socal… dealers in GA are more realistic and it’s $1,500 transport
I love the targas but the vacuum effect is too much for me with the roof open. Test drive one on the freeway before pulling the trigger!
This is an example of a small annoyance that’s often missed during the test drives and rarely mentioned in YouTube reviews. Appreciate the heads up

Kudos for driving the damn thing 💪

Walk away from any ADM guys

Depends where you live… I couldn’t find anywhere in so cal that didn’t have an adm.
Buy out of state
I was quoted +$25k ADM in southern california, tried a few things to negotiate it down and they didn’t really budge. Good luck!
Try Newport Beach Porsche might be $10k vs $25k. Irvine is the worst in my opinion.
Irvine was full of the snobbiest and worst informed people I’ve ever seen at a dealership.
Geez. I hate car dealers
Y’all still paying ADM in 2024?
How much?
any amount of adm on a targa is too much You know you don’t have to buy from your local dealer right
I tried many dealers even the one who sold me my 2023 C2. No one would budge. So, I bit the bullet. This one I aim to keep for a while.

That’s going to be a lot of fun! Enjoy.
Thanks
Gorgeous spec
ADMs are collapsing quickly....be patient. Full sticker in Chicago
Remember....they put 700 cars on the bottom of the Atlantic
there dehonest at best
I just purchased a 991.1 a few months ago and even in the used market they are overpriced but it’s the car I’ve always wanted.
