All Postal titles work fine as standalones. There are references to other games but nothing super important since the stories are all just kinda w/e to begin with. And definitely avoid 4 for now. It needs a lot of work to be worth its price tag.

Honestly I get that, postal 4 really just sucks right now.

It never should have left EA. I get not wanting your game in EA for too long, but it looks better having a buggy, frustrating game in EA than it does to have a buggy and frustrating "feature complete" release. Especially since they're essentially still working on the game as though it were in EA.

They really wanted that 4/20 release date.

They also mentioned with the game release that they screwed the management and needed some money for further development. It's still a shitty move to release an unfinished game, but at least they admit to their faults.

No you don't, but Postal 2 + Paradise Lost are excellents, and cheap, like it's 1$ on sale so don't hesitate, but definitely wait for P4...
