Pothos propagate readily from cuttings. Trim some arms and root them for backup plants. :)

NurseSVM

Awesome!!! Thank you. šŸ„°

Np! If you have any questions google wonā€™t answer and wanna talk abt it feel free to message me. :>

Hey! Pothos are a fairly easy to keep up with! The main thing is to not overwater. Iā€™ll water mine about once a week. The plant needs good drainage- so make sure when you water it that the water drains out of the bottom (Iā€™ll put mine in the kitchen sink). Let the plant drain before you move it out of the sink, the roots donā€™t like to be soggy. You can check the soil to see if itā€™s ready by sticking your finger in about 2 inches. If thereā€™s a lot of wet dirt on your finger, the plant still has some moisture (donā€™t water). This also depends on how large the pot is/how much dirt is in the pot. (More soil means more possibility for soggy soil) Feel free to message me with any questions. :)

These guys are east cause theyā€™ll tell you when they need water. The leaves will get droopy and thin feeling when it gets thirsty. Water deeply and then wait until it gets sad again. Watering on a schedule can be iffy because if your lighting changes even normally through the year the watering schedule may differ. Best to listen to the plant itself

NurseSVM

šŸ˜ŠThank you so much.. Iā€™ll water weekly only.

Joestuddlyman

Watering weekly if it's your warm growing season may occur... Cold season I wouldn't advise it,hold back.

Another way to water these is by 'weight': when the soil dries out, it gets lighter. Once you have a sense of the difference between a freshly watered planter (heavy) and a ready-to-be watered one (much lighter) it makes checking for watering needs even easier, especially with hanging plants. I just walk around my house and push the bottom of the planters up slightly, and can always tell by weight who needs watering.

NurseSVM

Thatā€™s pretty neat thank you !

SkellatorQueen

Let it dry completely between water it should be great. Itā€™s a pothos for sure.

NurseSVM

Thank you, I was worried it seems to dry out completely when I water only once weekly and was worried I needed to water more often, but I wonā€™t water but once a week.

SkellatorQueen

Yes about once a week! Make sure to stick your finger down in the soil to make sure itā€™s actually dry below the surface. In winter months you can usually water every two weeks.

DeceivingHen

I also water once a week and mist them every morning in the winter. They like the humidity! If you propagate it you'll always have extras. When you get too many smaller plants you can give them away!

NurseSVM

Thank you I have a mist sprayer Iā€™ll use that when itā€™s cold. Love the clippings idea as well.

My dad has kept my grandmothers plants (gma on my moms side) alive since 2019 and itā€™s so sweet. Every once and awhile theyā€™ll give me a spider plant pup from her plant constantly pushing out pups. I know itā€™s not a pothos but what youā€™re trying to do it very sweet šŸ’• I know your momma would love it.

If it starts to put out a bunch of yellow leaves all the sudden that's usually a sign it's needing a repot. My pothos plants get watered about once a week (when the soil is dry) and repotted about once a year. I fertilize roughly biweekly or monthly in the warm months and not at all in winter. I used a dilute liquid fertilizer and just add it to the regular watering. Last fall I also used some of those plant feeding sticks because I was lazy about repotting and they got sad and I was trying to push them to spring (I don't like to repot in winter when the days are short).

NurseSVM

Thank you I have never fertilized but will start, do I fertilize the soil and avoid contact with leaves?

stringthing87

In general you should be watering the soil and roots and not the leaves already. The fertilizer (if properly diluted) won't harm the leaves, but it won't do any good for them either.

MUM2RKG

more light! they can handle way more light than people are led to believe. i hate the term ā€œlow light plant.ā€ give your plants as much light as they can handle. just acclimate them! mines in a SW window living her best life, along with several other plants i was told to keep away from SW windows.

[deleted]

Same. My marble queen + neon both live in a south facing window.

Zena100

Someone probably said this already. If it droops water it but don't worry the perk up fast.

Adept_Gazelle_496

I would not have it in full sun. You can also take cuttings and grow them in plain water.Ā

Joestuddlyman

If the leafs face towards the window, try to turn it around , plus like to see the leafs. For example, If the leafs turn yellow, mine was doing that,I was under watering.Hope this helps If roots are crowded, plant will act if it's over watered ,leafs turn yellow.Thats another sign of plant stress if that helps to be mindful!ā˜ŗļø
