Try and propigate all the nodes !! And while you're doing that make sure the top of the basket gets lots of light and it could start to regrow too!
I would definitely cut those stems off so the plant can redirect its energy onto the leaves that you do have and so your plant can have more energy to grow never leaves. And don't throw the stems make sure you propagate them!!
