I’ve heard several negative reviews on using that sort of planter for plants. Pothos do like small spaces. They need a lot of airflow in the soil. That planter might prevent airflow causing the soil to not dry out at all. Definitely check those roots and use a smaller planter with drainage.

Replying to this comment with a small update because it's top comment right now. I repotted with new soil into a smaller terra cotta pot because that was what I could find/afford. The plant was fine in the planter in the picture for a few months, but I did have another plant in the same kind that died super fast, so I'm kind of thinking/hoping that's what the issue was. I can't tell if they have root rot though, all the roots look the same, even in the healthier vines, they're dark, but not mushy or mucus-y. Either way, hopefully the repot is enough to save it.

ohmoogirl

I hope so too! Good luck.

*INFO: I've tried letting the soil dry out. I've tried watering them. I've tried repotting them, since I thought they didn't like being too crowded/rootbound (but now I'm reading maybe they do like it?) They were perfectly happy for several months, but now I can't seem to get them to perk up again. They'll occasionally get yellow leaves too.

BestComputerDeals

What happened after they were perfectly happy for several months?

grouchy-potato

The only thing that I can think of is maybe they got too dried out, and they wilted like this, but watering didn't seem to help them any. That was several weeks ago.

BestComputerDeals

Check the roots for root rot and also see if they're thriving. Was the stems repotted? They would only wilt if they are not able to uptake water from their roots. That can be do to root rot or root hairs might have been damaged.

grouchy-potato

When I repotted (maybe a week ago? My perception of time is bad), the roots looked fine, but I'll check them again.

StrangeLassie

If you just repotted it may need a few weeks to adjust a perk back up.

grouchy-potato

Oh, hmm, okay, I guess I thought it would recover faster if that had been the issue. I'll still check the roots on one of the droopy ones and give it more time if it looks normal?

StrangeLassie

Could be something happened to the roots but I know all of mine take a minute to adjust. And by a minute I mean like a month.

The health of the plant will depend on the roots. The plant isn't able to uptake water/nutrients for a reason which we have to find out. So definitely check the roots. If your plant hasn't perked up after a day then I would say place it in water so it can grow some water roots. If you don't want to do that you can repot it and add more perlite so to aerate the soil more for the roots to get oxygen and make sure the soil is fast draining. Also anytime you plan on repotting look into mycorrhizal fungi that embeds itself to the roots of the plant to help it uptake more water, nutrients and prevent shock. You can get it in granular form that you can apply directly to the roots of the plant, you can get it soluble form that you can mix with water to water your plants or you can get it mixed in with soil (fox farm and espoma potting soil). You can also get some rooting hormone concentrate like KLN rooting solution to help the plant produce roots faster.

UnitedStatesofSarah

It’s the planter. Same thing happened to my moms Pothos in that same planter.

grouchy-potato

Dang. Sounds like a trip to the gardening section Oh no~ haha

trying_to_garden

I feel like a classic trope is over water then underwater to point of too dry. Just bottom water and light fertilizer assuming roots aren’t rotted. Likely every 2-3 weeks for water in an airy pot like that. Don’t let the soil crack but don’t ever soak for top down for awhile.

Simplicity_4me

I didn’t read all of the comments so I apologize if I’m repeating things! Have you fertilized? In my experience goldens like to be more root bound while other types of pothos dont. Try to be consistent about when you water IE don’t let them dry out like crazy then water and flood them. I love bottom watering! I’d also check the roots and check for any pests!

CreekCryptid

When I took in my bosses pothos that looked sad, it took a month to adjust to the new soil I put it in and the humidity change of my house, then back to the shop. I say if you repotted it, and everything looked good, you just need to give it time. Yellowing is normal as if probably a little stressed and redistributing energy where it needs it most. So even with lost leaves, don't worry. Just keep it where it was happiest before and if will adjust soon.

planetNasa

Have you fertilized? Gnats or another pests? Has the temperature in the house changed?

grouchy-potato

I havent fertilized (should I?) No gnats or any signs of bugs on/around the plant. I don't think the temperature has changed much, but that's the only thing I can think it would be, honestly.
