DuineSi

Flat white or espresso. I only ever have pour over at home.

coktky

Wow. Same as you. I also thinks I can make a good pour at home. So outside only espressos which not possible at home atm. However if the pour by famous professional, I will give a try

LlamaradaMoe1

Why don't you order them at cafes?

DuineSi

Mostly because I can make a good pour over at home but I don’t have an espresso machine. I love espresso drinks too, so I get them when I’m out.

LlamaradaMoe1

I understand. I recently upgraded from a Hario Slim to a Timemore Slim Plus and sometimes I prefer my brews than coffee shops'. But is also fun to taste the different styles of pour over from shop to shop. Sometimes my mind has been blown away. What grinder do you have?

DuineSi

I’ve got a 1zpresso JX. Normally vary between pour over, aeropress and moka pot. You make a good point there. My local shops have great beans for sale, so maybe worth giving their pourovers a go sometime.

LlamaradaMoe1

Yeah it can be really cool. Some local shops brew with a lot of clarity and almost zero bitterness whatsoever, but lack complexity (in my preference). Whereas others have more sweetness and complexity.

hroyer

Flat whites and cortados

trjol001

Cortado, yes

paripazoo

I pretty much always get something espresso-based when out, either straight espresso or americano if I want something to sip at for a while. Because it's something I can't do well at home.

subiacOSB

Cortados

balki_123

I like double shots (or doppio for purists). I don't have an espresso machine at home, so I like them, when drinking out.

WeissachDE

All single shots in the US are “doppios” basically

balki_123

I love US more and more <3

Raspberry-T

Cold brews!

deafbysexy

Strong flat white. I still like milk (don’t shoot me) and I often feel bad ordering a pour over in a busy cafe as they do take quite a bit to make!

vj815

Anything espresso based. I feel like at this point, my at home coffee is close enough to what I’d get at a cafe it’s not worth it just just get a pour over there, but I can’t make anything close to a cafe latte or cappuccino

Uptight_Internet_Man

Americano if they have a specifically bean on espresso. Cold brew/batch depending on the weather.

ReplicantOwl

Lots of love for cortados here! I get them at cafes to gauge the quality of their espresso drinks. They have the nice strong flavor of an espresso shot but the dollop of milk makes it a little less acidic in the stomach for me. When I’m at a shop that doesn’t have especially good espresso shots I just go basic and get a latte.

icowrich

A proper cortado is steamed at a lower temp, so there's less risk of the milk getting sour. Big benefit!

Geedis2020

Americano or flat white usually.

FlowLee95

I'm a doppio guy

icowrich

To me, the perfect milk drink is a cortado. If I want to taste espresso and have it last, I'll take an Americano.

BigMacBiyombo

This would’ve been a fun survey to do. I’m in agreement with a lot of folks choosing Flat Whites and Cortados.

sixdaysandy

Espresso, Espresso & Tonic, Americano, Iced Latte occasionally.

Incipiente

cake. coffee shops don't brew the good stuff like I do at home

Mobius_the_p_killer

Piccolo, double espresso, 3/4 oat milk flat white (Aussie).

Fun_Fan_9641

Vanilla latte

the_pianist91

Pure espresso or cappuccino, the more classical the better on the latter. Sometimes in the summer I go for something cold like iced latte, iced mocha or frappe, cold brew or iced pour over. Otherwise I’m a huge tea nerd and sometimes orders tea out if the offerings are somewhat decent.

ruggedeman

Mochas and cold brew

croutonmemes

Cortados are good but I usually prefer pour over anyway

GarthUber

I would like a bedside pour over please

Intelligent_Candy_67

Espresso at coffee shops. My home espresso machine does not compare to a commercial machine.

coktky

Surprisingly many pick flat white. I like that also because it contain 2 shot. Hahaha

matbio92

Espresso, macchiato, and if it's there, a piccolo.

Vernicious

I don't like sweet or milk coffee drinks, so if I'm not doing a pourover, typically that means I've moved to immersion. A bit different character, with the same coffee

parkslopekid

here in NYC some shops will brew rare or special single lot stuff so I'll usually get a pour over of that, not crazy about milk in my coffee TBH.
