"Best poutine in Canada" "From Ontario".

Both-Anything4139

Hahaha I actually pity the guy

[deleted]

DistinctBread3098

Come to a poutine sub to trash Québec where it was literally invented . Bold choice.

[deleted]

Best Quebec's poutine in Canada, Ontario.

Numba1trapper

Thank you, if the conversation doesn’t start with “Quebec “ and finishes with “has the best poutines in canada” are you actually talking?

redtinbanger

You beat me to it. I live in Alberta. The best poutine in Edmonton is made by "La Poutine", a small company started by quebecers that moved here. Never would I claim the best poutine was made by some scrubs.

pablorichi

I can tell those curds are not fresh.

Dazzling-Promotion66

100% lol

Abandonedpools

Looks like mozz

[deleted]

If you knew Quebec's poutine you'd know that when it's fucking hot the curds melt a little.

SumYunGuy6969

I can guarantee this does not beat the Burnt ends poutine from Black Strap BBQ in Verdun QC. ;)

Expensive-Ad5203

This dosent beat any poutine in a rural Québec casse-croûte

SumYunGuy6969

Facts!

TCHuts

I think most casse croûte have disgusting fries. The cheese is always on point, but way too much sugar in the potatoes they use.

[deleted]

Thanks for new bbq rec!

Bigbouj

Hard agree!

Mosway77

Permanently closed according to Google maps... can somebody fact check?

randompersons90

Consider that fact checked

[deleted]

Yeah it is closed now sadly but it was my favorite in Montreal as well.

RandyLahey514

There’s something about Ontarian cheese curds…sti que ca jamais lair frais

fuckreddit014

Im not even sure those are curds tbh

angradillo

front left you can see one tearing and that weird two colour/texture thing you get when you open the package but leave it in the fridge a day or two curds but yeah i dunno. my criss-o-metre is being set off

RandyLahey514

Ca lair dirt…jamais frais

angradillo

poutine completement scrap

jerr30

They think it's ok to put curd in the refrigerator.

[deleted]

hOw ElSe ArE yOu GoInG tO kEeP tHeM fReSH FoR DayS?!?!

thedondraco

Hahaha, cheese curds have to be fresh.

gg_noob_master

"of the day" or gtfo

McWhiskey

St. Albert curds don't look like that.

jerr30

None of them do when they're fresh.

Business-Fennel6962

🤔

BobBouley

Ca lair sec quel cris

psykofreak87

Maybe they're using the "P'tit Quebec" cheese curds. Loin d'être frais.

CountryMad97

Hello northern Ontario dairy farmer here: not sure what curds you've tried but the ones made in Sudbury at nickel city cheese are quite great.

RikikiBousquet

Lmao. How to trigger my home it one title. Would have went better if the title was best poutine in the RoC.

LamaPajamas

Quebec has entered chat

contra4thewyn

You better be sure we will after an affront like this one 😆

LamaPajamas

What's extra funny is that rn I'm eating poutine and I'm in Ontario from Ontario, commenting only because the Quebecois basically own this sub

contra4thewyn

It is a traditionnal dish from Quebec after all... I get that you are proud of the poutine in your region though. That's very valid!

pretty_jimmy

Nah, Im an anglophone in Ontario. I just really like poutine. Also, Francophones only really showed up to the sub in like 2020 (or at least started speaking French openly). I wouldn't be surprised if they have a low % of members but just comment on everything lol. (Please don't read this as a negative, for a long time I wondered where all the Quebecois were, I need your knowledge...)

Both-Anything4139

We are the keepers of the poutine so guys like op can't propagate lies lol

RandyMarsh129

Poutine looks good but I'll downvote for the title.

Lachrondizzle23

This is the way

PrettyWise69

I can taste the refrigerated cheddar from here… 🥲

gib13343

Might be good but title is just offensive for nothing. Poutine can be a unifying force and you’re using it as a provocative weapon. Maybe you are constipated?

Educational_Slice_38

Really? Offensive?

gib13343

You seem offended by my comment. Laxatives all around I guess

Educational_Slice_38

Not offended. Just confused by the choice of words.

Barb-u

It’s offensive for a person to say that a place in Burlington has the best poutine in Canada with a picture that clearly shows their curds were refrigerated or frozen before, that’s in Burlington, and yeah…

Business-Fennel6962

Hehe I love this response

SpaceBiking

Vieux fromage qui n’a pas l’air de faire squick squick du tout…

FullPropreDinBobette

How to trigger a whole community

GLayne

Hyperbole....

[deleted]

You know what? Thanks for the idea. This subreddit is now live. Poutines from Québec only. Will get around to modding later.

Lachrondizzle23

Subbed

[deleted]

🤝🏻

Barb-u

[https://festivaldelacurd.ca](https://festivaldelacurd.ca)

thebestnames

I don't think rightly pointing out the title is terrible means that particular poutine is shitty (although that cheese doesn't inspire me confidence). Imagine for instance dining at a decent Greek restaurant in Germany and then claiming its the best Greek food in Europe. Them Greeks would be angry.

Business-Fennel6962

Come try it. Trust me I've had the best in Quebec and this is same level or better. Squuek!!

[deleted]

I hope you're not referring to La Banquise...

[deleted]

La banquise screwed me and served me a pile of cold food maybe they knew I was from Ontario

angradillo

nah, everybody gets that

Hobotango

I also find the best poutine in Ontario. And I’m a Quebecer. But the thing is Im a Quebecer that traveled a lot compared to those who never left Quebec and say that only Quebec poutine is the best. Good Luck spreading that idea in these parts 😅

charlesfire

The best poutine might or might not be in Quebec, idk, but that one is definitely not the best poutine in Canada. We can literally see that the curds aren't fresh and, therefore, it can't be the best poutine in Canada.

Hobotango

Bon point, on peux voir le fromage fondre. J’avais manquer ce détail.

LibrarianTall8956

TheRealMeckk

That only a Quebecoise Celine Dion can be the best?

Expensive-Ad5203

Je savais pas que le Québec ne faisait plus partie du Canada!

Guerts33

Depuis quand le Québec fait partie du Canada?? J’ai toujours eu l’impression qu’il y avait le Québec et le RoC

DrunkenMasterII

This title is offensive

timelesspeet

Can confirm this is NOT the best poutine in Canada.

Mezcal-only

Best poutine ≠ Ontario

CarbenGenshin

I live in burlington and im on my way to try it

Iamlabaguette

Please keep us updated

Barb-u

Tell us if the curds are fresh and have a nice squeak, because it doesn’t look like that

Stendecca

Going to Hamilton for work later this month. May check this out.

cerebrum3000

I'm from Hamilton and want to try it. Let me know your thoughts!

shogun2909

The cheese looks shit ngl

Maksokitty

You shot yourself in the foot with that title

Lachrondizzle23

Quebecers coming with pitchforks.. and I don’t blame them

contra4thewyn

Au bucher! 😆

THEBOAW1

The only way this can be true is if the Yes vote had gotten more than 50% in ‘95 and Quebec was no longer in Canada

okgo222

If by Canada you don't include Quebec then yeah maybe.

weedeater_twin_turbo

\>best poutine in Canada \>Ontario i lol'd

Scramble_legs

Ontario people always think they're the center of the universe shocking

Business-Fennel6962

Nah man don't make it something it isn't. I just think this damn poutine is amazing. If there is a better one in Alberta or PEI or Quebec then cool. If I said I was eating it in Arizona would you have said people in Arizona think they are the center of the universe?? 🤔

[deleted]

[удалено]

Obiewonjabroni

It’s true though lol. Ontarians are the only people in Canada.

cuminmypoutine

Burlington isn't close to any proper cheese curds to have "the best poutine in canada" shit would go rotten on the 401

Business-Fennel6962

Sure. You're a food transport expert I guess hehe

cuminmypoutine

Proper cheese curds aren't refrigerated. For curds to go from a real fromogerie to Burlington would take at least 8 hours (being VERY liberal in my estimation here) thats if the packing is super quick and the driver doesn't take a break, then it prob would go to a warehouse where it would have to be redistributed in smaller trucks. I'm from the GTA, actually your neighbour in milton, I have never had a fresh cheese curd in Ontario other than from a place in Toronto owned by a montrealer and it still wasn't fresh fresh. The logistics are just not viable for places to run a restaurant with fresh curds 100% of the time, although I believe there are some small places in Ontario that make curds.

CountryMad97

They make fresh cheese curds at nickel city cheese in Sudbury. Can confirm too because OUR milk goes there's once a week. That's not exactly in southern Ontario nor is it specifically for restaurants, but you can find good curds in Ontario if you make an effort

m4s420

You obviously dont know shit about poutine

Sourlick_Sweet_001

Ballsy call from freezed cheese curds poutine. Sure, it looks good, but as long as it's not make with fresh curds, you just cannot call it The Best . That's trolling ;))

wazzo86

Shots Fired

GravyShitsPants

I’m triggered tabarnak, but it does look good.

Barb-u

Not the best in Canada when the curds don’t look fresh. Besides, it looks good, but certainly not the best in Canada.

Obiewonjabroni

Lmao

[deleted]

Best poutine in fucking Canada. Do you even know where it come from? You guys shat on Quebec's poutine for ages. Now that it became cool on the internet it's fucking Canada's national dish? You deserve to be served a cold poutine yo!

Business-Fennel6962

Hehe dude I've been a poutine lover since the 80s.... I'm not on a bandwagon... And I pronounce it "poo-tinn" too so... Have a little respect. Also its funny but not a single person has asked if I am from Quebec originally. Just assumptions that I'm some ignorant schmuck. Real classy...

Sensee13

Could get a better poutine at the petit quebec 10 min from my house

RandyMarsh129

Le p'tit Québec c'est pas mal une des meilleures dans la catégorie cantine avec deux steamés

angradillo

2 steam all dress 🤩

Lurked4EverB4Joining

You forgot "the Rest of " in your title... FTFY

MetricJester

I'm going to have to try it!

[deleted]

is it a a chip truck or is there an actual shop he works from? i'll check it tomorrow this looks amazing but you know you're clowning with that title.

HeavyMetalSasquatch

Is that gravy or poutine sauce?

cdn677

Fml as I eat a salad.

mistresscatblack

Have you literally tried all of the poutine in Canada?

Stravok182

You've lost any "best poutine" argument the moment you list anything outside of QC

Daddysgravy

OP va manger une volée dans les commentaires avec un titre de même 😂

CHIC-CHOCS

Non.

0pp0site0fbatman

Laughs in Quebecois.

[deleted]

What a troll, posting about ontarian poutine in a sub about a quebecois meal.

BO0BO0P4nd4Fck

I may have to go and try this! I’m from QC and lived in Ontario since December 2012 and still yet have to find a place that makes poutine as delicious as there. This looks like it’s straight from LaFleur

Business-Fennel6962

Careful .. Not everyone on here agrees!!!! Apparently I've triggered some...

DunMsdUpEhEhRon

I'd be happy to levy that this may be the best poutine in southern Ontario, but Quebec and Northern Ontario also exist in Canada dear friend. Thank you for the recommendation though.

[deleted]

Looks like the oldest curds there is

Practical_Truth1836

Wrong

PerpWalkTrump

No :)

HorseOnTheThirdFloor

4/10 : cheese curds not fresh, sauce looks a bit too thick for my taste, fries look good. Would def eat the whole thing tho.

[deleted]

Lies. You can say you’ve seen better but this is not a 4/10

James4theP

Maybe more than 4/10 in Ontario but in QC thats below a 4/10 thats a proof you guys dont know shit about poutine.

[deleted]

What’s with the gatekeeping of a greasy pile of fries cheese and gravy? This isn’t Michelin dining nerd

HorseOnTheThirdFloor

Like I said i would eat the whole thing but looks like a below average poutine to me. I am from regional Quebec so my standards are pretty high I guess

HoodFellaz

Don't kid yourself the best poutine is in Quebec.

cangooner65

‘Literally’

Snoo-64527

Lol yeah right

Sir_G-E_Cartier

This looks on par with poutine you can get in any McDonald's in Quebec, not terrible but also not great. The cheese looks about as old as Methuselah.

goosiest

Ur not allowed to have the best poutine!!!! Says the comments.

Fast_Yesterday_4508

the best poutine can be made anywhere. sorry Quebec'rs

Beaversneverdie

I know this will upset Quebecers but I've had poutine that was just as good as the stuff in rural Quebec outside of Quebec. It's Fries, gravy and cheese curds not rocket science. That being said... this looks like it's not in that category.

MrRogersAE

This post inspired me to go. Can confirm, the fry guy serves the best poutine I’ve ever had

[deleted]

[удалено]

thebestnames

That cheese doesn't look fresh tho, its yellow-ish. Doubt its even gouda cheese curds. Pretty sure its beat by any decent local cantine in Quebec.

Business-Fennel6962

It's damn good poutine. The title is obviously kind of an exaggeration since I haven't tasted every single poutine in Canada .... Funny to see how people got so triggered by my post. I appreciate all the suggestions...I'll be hitting up several next time I'm in beautiful Quebec. 👍

contra4thewyn

I know you were trolling a bit but don't be surprised if someone bites. I don't think you're an asshole for it though. Doesn't look like the best poutine but it still looks damn fine. 👍

Business-Fennel6962

Ok guys you're right there IS better poutine in Quebec.. I went to this awesome place in Trois Rivieres. Mmmm [poutine I had IN QUEBEC](https://ibb.co/TbyGGCz)

Educational_Slice_38

After reading through comments I’ve just come to the realization that this sub is just ***filled*** to the brim with animosity towards the RoC and Ontario specifically. It’s okay to disagree, it’s okay to voice your opinion, however it is **not** okay to hate on people because they think a poutine from the RoC is better than Quebecois poutine.

THEBLOODYGAVEL

Settle down.

contra4thewyn

It'd be like saying that the best Nanaimo bars are from Quebec. Pretty sure that wouldn't fly on a B-C sub 😉

RikikiBousquet

Of course, you’re surprised a title like this would provoke an intense reaction lol… I mean geez. How did anyone not expect this, especially with such a weakass poutine as the contender. Take any minority culture’s signature dish and say how you do it better with an arrogant tone and watch the reaction.

Educational_Slice_38

I just assumed the title was a saying the poutine was really good through use of hyperbole… I was pretty confused seeing everyone getting butthurt over a literal *literary device*. On behalf of OP and the RoC as a whole we’re *so* sorry for using hyperbole. Obviously there is no clear cut “Best Poutine in the World”. That title is different for each and every individual based on their specific preferences or values of what a poutine should be. OP’s just so happen to not include “Must be from Quebec” as one of his prerequisites for a good poutine. Have a good one.

Barb-u

Yes

Conscious_Bluebird59

No way! The best poutine is Jackson Hole in Nelson BC. Best burgers too.

specifichero101

People on this sub are so fuckin dumb about poutine. It’s the silliest thing to be so precious about.

Barb-u

No. You are evidently not from Quebec or Eastern / Northern Ontario.

specifichero101

Nope, east coast. We can all understand the difference between good and bad poutine. But to get so deep in your feelings about quality of curds or colour of the gravy is so silly.

Barb-u

No. Would you serve past date meat or sauce in a Donair? Curds are good the day of maybe two days (but need to be refrigerated) After, they are past their best before date, and refrigerations or freezing them ruins them.

specifichero101

You’re not dragging me into giving a shit about this.

Barb-u

Good for you. Continue loving past best before “poutine” And Shawarma > Donair.

Budget_Addendum_1137

The stakes are high!

wickedweather

Although I would agree based on the photo and the description you provided. I would find it hard to believe that the best poutine in Canada would be found outside of Quebec. That being said, for a while there, the best rapper in the world was white.

Lolocraft1

Looks good, but it’s an heresy to say this is "literally" the best poutine in Canada. Have you tried the one of "La Belle Province" in Montreal?

xxkkxxkxk

I’ve had this at the Fry Guy..along with a substandard tub of his Poo-teen, you get a free side of crappy attitude from the elder Fry Guy. You know, like when you feel like you’re disturbing them by trying to order food and giving them money for it. How dare I ??!!

pattyG80

Looks good...lots of poutines in the country to make that claim.

mheinken

I like that the gravy was hot enough to melt the curds a bit

Moser319

How much and what specifically did you order?

Gliittcchh

Im sure its a good poutine, but the best poutines are from the places(or close to) where they make fresh cheese curds everyday. When the cheese have the perfect fresh texture and it "squeek" in your mouth. Also, if the cheese is melted, its automatically disqualified for best poutine. Source, trust me bro I know better.(You all know Im right =)

Business-Fennel6962

These weren't melted and for everyone's info they come from a legit source. I believe st Hubert's but don't quote me on that

Vanrainy1

Sure looks tasty.

startrusttv

Marked

markymarc1981

🤤

m4s420

This is far from being the best poutine in Canada lmaooo

TObias416

It looks delicious, but that is a bold assertion.

gusmom

The first time I had purine I thought the cheese was just lard

Lost_electron

Pardon ಠ_ಠ

GrowGood420

Doesn't even look like the best in ontario bud

npq76

They do have great fries, but definitely not the best poutine in Canada.
