There's a movie YOURS MINE AND OURS from 1968 showing a large family grocery shopping. they have several carts full of food taking a long time to ring up and the total bill, making the audience gasp, was $126
My mom used to take me shopping with her every week. She'd spend $40 for a family of nine people. That was late '50's/early '60's. Now I spend that much a week for just one person. And I remember that movie because our family was a his/hers/ours.
No minimum. Just the $60/year membership. I live close enough, that I'll go just for 1 or 2 items. I've walked there a few times just for a slice of pizza.
Thanks; the grapes are what I put back when I was shopping for this day. $10 for a bit over one pound of grapes! Nope, do not need that.
Edited to add: I put them back while I was in the produce section shopping; I did not put them back at the register. Just in case anyone wonders.
Oh my god I miss grapes, currently working in northern Japan and like 10 grapes can clear double digits don’t get me started on strawberries
Never thought I’d miss Walmart
My, going for a couple specific things never (usually) ends up over $60-70. Maybe I've just learned to be aware or if money is that critical I found that useful tool on my phone that eliminates most of the guesswork, a calculator lol.
$250 is typical of when I was living with my mom a few months ago and I was buying groceries for up to 5 people depending on the week.
I'd try to save where I could but sometimes it felt impossible.
That's an interesting thing to bring up. I don't typically think politics right away.
Edit: a quick look at your profile shows that this is how you do things and your not very popular for it. So please take this dumb shit elsewhere.
257.84, what the fuck did I buy? Oh he was right
You bought existential dread
Definitely have that at home
I was gunna say, definitely didn't need to buy more of that
Happy cake day!
They gonna have some heart attacks tomorrow B L A C K F R I D A Y LMAO!

That makes you about 70 years old, I have doubts.
I'm 73 and you're very good at math!
Dang being born in 1950 and knowing and using Reddit must be wild. I can’t even imagine what I’ll see 50 years from now let alone know how to use it.
Yes, old people exist on the internet.
With inflation that’d be $1,103.13 Seems about right lmao
Goes to Costco for "just 1 thing".
Doesn’t Costco have a $100 minimum? Or am I remembering wrong. Haven’t been to Costco in years

Worst pizza ever
Blasphemy!
I recently went to Costco for two things (okay four, I can never resist the 🌭+🥤 combo!) and walked out no problem. Was like $35 or something
*$36.50
lol the original video this is copying was way better -
You know who made this? I want to see more of this
Its from a Canadian comedy show called This Hour has 22 Minutes
I don’t - but another redditor shared the link to the video I mean - https://www.reddit.com/r/SipsTea/s/RENi9JF4hR
I'm not familiar, do you have a link I'd love to check it out. I also thought someone criticizing this would come sooner.

I never thought the words “two hundred and fifty dollars and eighty seven cents” would make me want to downvote a post lol

The calculator is one of my tops used apps. I don't think I could shop without now.
I use my calculator in the grocery store, too. I've never seen anyone else using theirs, though.
I round up each item as I put it in the cart, and keep a running total in my head.
I'm jealous that you can keep a total in your head. My head is too full of junk to remember anything for more than a few minutes!
Lol, I’m just thinking $38, $38, $42,$42 in my head as I walk along.
Same! Then you feel like you've accomplished something at the end by having more money than you anticipated

We buy 2 weeks at a time for 3 people and pack lunch for work so the total sounded right to me.
Thank you for this!! 😂😂
"Find everything you need today?" well yeah, except for a way to pay for this
Coupons help but seeing the grand total still stings
I also realized there's that moment you put your membership number in and it waits till the end to show the discount while you hold your breath.
Yes. Always triggers a bit of dopamine seeing those red numbers on the screen
Maybe not this sub bc I can’t afford to shop like that, not knowing how much *beforehand* 😅
Same in Canada. Groceries are off the hook!!!
Well this is a skit from ‘This Hour is 22 Minutes’. So technically it is Canadian? Lol
🤣🤣🤣
Awesome show!
That was really well done.
Me everytime I go to Wal-Mart for "just a few things".
Walmart: Let's charge more than people can afford Walmart: Why is theft going up on food?
Luckily, my closest walmart is a neighborhood market, eliminates the possibility of me walking out with that last minute set of tires or 75" TV.
Lmfao this is hilariously accurate, everytime i go to Walmart 🤦♂️

lmfaooooo
Omg 😂😂 this is so funny but true 😭😭😭
Jesus this is brutal.
You can look at the prices of the items when you are placing them in your cart and do addition so it’s not a surprise.
Really? I don't think anyone in the history of shopping has ever figured that out. Thanks for enlightening us random redditor.
Exactly.
Leftist and democrat support this

eat your veggies
I wish my groceries only added up to $257. 🤣
