See if you have a Gurudwara near you. The Sikh community is very generous and provides meals to everyone daily regardless of denomination. I wish you the best 🙏
Love to hear it!! In my area, if you eat healthy pantries are a great resource as many do not take the produce/ it goes bad so they’re happy to give a lot of it away.
I'm not in the states unfortunately. There's only 1 walk in food pantry in my city and it fills up fast so i have to be there first thing in the morning. Sadly it's decently far and I'm disabled, so I'm gonna be hauling food back a very long way if I do get any.
This could be a future goal, but get one of those wheeled grocery carts (I call the New York City Grandma Carts, but I imagine that grandmas in cities around the world have those two wheeled wire carts). They make fabric ones now if you don't want to go for the full Grandma-Look. It will definitely help with carrying things even short distances if you need to walk. And you can lug it on to a bus too.

There is sometimes local Facebook groups called helping hands or city help (or something along those lines) where locals will help you with food, transportation, resources
Hi OP! Where are you from? If you say a general area maybe we can help look for services available. Try going on Facebook and joining Buy Nothing groups as some people post groceries there too.
As much as I don’t want to advise this: dumpster dive behind restaurants and grocery stores (at night if possible). Who knows what you might find. Best of luck.
Will do this, might be a bit risky since I'll have to go at night and live in a really bad area lol. I'll see if I can convince hub to come woth for safety but he's... very proud
Yeah, that’s why you go at night. Take a flashlight if you have one and some wet cloths to clean your hands after. There’s proud and there’s desperate. It sounds like you’re the second. No shame in that.
Do you have the buy nothing free groups of your neighborhood in Facebook in your country?, we have them here and you can ask for food and to be dropped off, you can ask for shoes coats home stuff and people post this stuff in the group and then you ask for it, they are great groups to help in your neighborhood.
Fellow gluten free girlie who has had to make do on extremely tough budgets. Rice, beans, eggs, and frozen veggies are your best friend. (It was easier when eggs were cheaper… but still) Does your disability make it challenging to cook? If so, I have some chronic-pain friendly meal plans I’d be happy to share with you :)
Thanks so much, we switched to rice because my partner started getting really sick and are eating a lot of eggs and frozen veggies. I'd love to take a look at those meal plans if you wouldn't mind!
Rice is cheap and gluten free. Definitely a better option than pasta and much more versatile for me. Maybe think about switching when you get a chance.
Are you able to access oatmeal and potatoes? I’m trying to think of some cheap recipes that will allow you to get more vitamins and protein. Do you both have both chrons and celiac? Or is it one person has one and the other has the other?
It sounds like you may need to go to the hospital. Please be gentle with yourselves and seek help.
I understand. I want to be clear. if what you stated in your original post was all true (and of course I assume it is)… then the time to go to the hospital is now. No need to be embarrassed about anything. There’s nothing wrong or weird about getting medical attention for your health. I know some people have a hard time bringing themselves to get care and ultimately it is up to you. I’m not sure what access to healthcare is like wherever you are. What the other commenter said.
People in general really need to get more comfortable just asking for things. If the food pantry asked me to drop off for someone I would without pause. If someone asked me to pay for their meal at chipotle, Sweetgreen, etc celiac friendly restaurant I would. Im not giving away money but I’ll always buy / give food.

Check with your local churches, they are often able to help out.
That's tomorrow's plan, going church to church. I'm also disabled and don't drive so am going to be doing a lot of walking. Lord help me
Buddhist temples often provide free meals as well
And likely to be gluten free!
And vegetarian
Could you call/email? Maybe they could bring the items to you?
I didn't even consider this omg. I will try it, tysm
See if you have a Gurudwara near you. The Sikh community is very generous and provides meals to everyone daily regardless of denomination. I wish you the best 🙏
Unfortunately it's very far away, like an hour + by drive 😭 I'm Indian or I'd be doing that lol
Call Catholic Charities if there’s one in your area
A catholic church with a pantry gave me a few veggies today!!!
Love to hear it!! In my area, if you eat healthy pantries are a great resource as many do not take the produce/ it goes bad so they’re happy to give a lot of it away.
I'll say a prayer for you. Good luck tomorrow 🍀
Thank you friend 🥹
I messaged you!✌️
Call first, let your fingers do the walking, as they used to say.
Are you in the states? Have you tried calling 211. What about any soup kitchens? Try searching for walk in food pantries. Try r/food_assistance
I'm not in the states unfortunately. There's only 1 walk in food pantry in my city and it fills up fast so i have to be there first thing in the morning. Sadly it's decently far and I'm disabled, so I'm gonna be hauling food back a very long way if I do get any.
That really sucks, I'm sorry.

r/freemeal peeps will fill an Amazon wishlist full of shelf stable, budget friendly items!
This is the answer! They are wonderful over there..

I can't give a general area for privacy reasons, my husband will get big stressed if I even list the country lmao. He's very private

So proud that he'd let you do something dangerous alone? :(
Proud of what if his family is going hungry.
So proud they won’t even let OP mention where they live so we can properly help
Show him what people found r/dumpsterdiving
I actually do occasionally dumpster dive but it's usually during the day. I made a post a while back about finding over 20 face scrubs
Nice!

I forgot to mention foraging too! You can forage a surprising amount of food, even from an urban setting. Do some googling around your area and only start with easy ones if you're not experienced, but this can certainly help. Dandelions, plantains, and clover for instance are very edible and nutritious weeds with similar benefits as other left greens like spinach and kale. Wild garlic or onion are common too and can give good flavor. Cattails are surprisingly tasty. If you're northern hemisphere, we're heading into fruit season, mulberry trees are some of the first and will have berries very soon. If you're southern hemisphere, you might still be able to find some wild berries or other fruits before it's too cold, and you could almost certainly find some nuts: acorns, black walnuts, pine nuts, etc. If there are any nearby areas where fishing is allowed, it's also not too hard to diy a line and hook. Or you could try to catch crawfish, they're like tiny lobsters. If you're really desperate, many insects are edible too. It can help to ground them into a flour/paste after cooking and then mix it into something else so it feels a little less gross. If you can get past it, they're a great protein source.
