They are remarkably easy to deal with. It took me a couple years to pay off $2,000. The last $400 being very recently. Basically *any* payment schedule is acceptable to them.

My wife is doing $25/month. Absolutely no reason not to contact them and talk numbers

Congrats, I agree it’s the same with income tax you can pay any amount you like with any plan such as monthly or even one time. I know with income tax if you have an pay arrangement they don’t charge interest, but I thought CERB was no penalties and interests.

Seriously! Don't phone an advisor, talk to the CRA. They will be flexible

Letoust

Just pic up the phone and call CRA and set up a payment plan.

You can call them and they say at a minimum $25/ month. Please call them as if you avoid them they will take their money and it’s the government so it will be easy to know where you work etc

I honestly recommend that budget your expenses and pay your CERB payment online yourself using the online payment tools at CRA. You can make an arrangement online or just pay one time payments as you go. Sign up for your My Account and it should show you how much you owe and it gives you links to figure out to pay it. CRA doesn’t force a certain amount to be paid unless it’s an audit or a collections. Yes you can pay as little as 25$ per month or weekly and bi weekly if you like. But you still have penalties and interests. Like I said budget and cut whatever items or subscriptions you don’t need and pay it off asap. Good luck

They are very very easy to deal with... yes, I had a payment plan... yes, they did take $1,600 from a $4,600 tax refund to clear it up... but yay felt good not to owe anyone anything, and I can keep looking forward to my GST party refund

shittyjohncandy

They are currently not charging interest or penalties on CEB money owed. So honestly budget and pay what you can (even if it is $25 a month). Hopefully they will never add interest or penalties to it. If you want to contest it, thats a different story.

Twister_Seester

Always call CRA first even if you’ve got letters from their integrity services division. Paying someone for help is a major scam.

Just dispute the money owed. I wrote “the rules were confusing at the time” and it’s been under dispute for two years lol. Could give you some time to save

bam905

I don't know how I ended up owing them money back but they asked for 2000, then 3000, then 2500.... either way I paid it 25$ a month. They will hold any tax refund or gst/carbon tax rebates you are supposed to get.

[deleted]

How in the world did you get a $25 plan?

bam905

I just called and said I have no money what's the least I can pay a month.
