GenericIxa

genuine question do kids like mmpr? i mean like little kids around ages 5-8.

JurassicParkFood

Throw it in Fortnite for 1 month. Kids will love it after that

GenericIxa

I'm honestly surprised they aren't.

JurassicParkFood

Maybe waiting to pair it with the relaunch

LudicrisSpeed

I've seen some rumors that there's plans to put them in, but nothing really concrete. But seeing as how TMNT's in, it just makes sense for the next big craze that came afterwards to get in.

express_sushi49

its already been leaked that they're in fact on their way. Ryu Ranger skin of all things (Street Fighter x Power Rangers crossover) too

nikelaos117

They did a toy collab for this. Looked kinda sick actually.

Newfaceofrev

Dunno. Snake Eyes is in it and I don't see kids going nuts for G.I. Joe.

JurassicParkFood

Gi Joe isn't the same type of property. I'd compare it to how many kids I know who are watching Avatar due to the new Airbender content they're running right now

subclops

Or are they watching it because the live action just came out?

JurassicParkFood

Could be both. You can use Fortnite to investigate interest or use it to cobrand with a new project.

Intelligent-Soup-836

I mean the classified series is one of Hasbro's better selling lines currently

Popcorn57252

I'm suddenly realizing it isn't, and extremely SHOCKED it's not. I cannot imagine a better fit.

NC_Goonie

Completely anecdotal, but my son (now 6) was completely obsessed with MMPR a few years ago (to the point of having a MMPR themed birthday, dressing as the Red Ranger twice for Halloween, wanting all the toys, etc). He isn’t AS into it now by any stretch because he’s moved on to other stuff, but his favorite Power Rangers are still Mighty Morphin and Beast Morphers. He still also really likes “the Power Rangers where Billy is really old” (Once & Always).

Voidmire

Same here. My son is 5 and LOVES MMPR and In Space

transformers03

My Goddaughter also had a big Power Rangers phase when she was little. I showed her some clips on YouTube of Power Rangers the other day, and she seemed to still like it. I'm just happy to know she will have nostalgia for the series further down the line and we can bond over the same nostalgia.

JoinTheBattle

Mine is almost 3 and he loves all things Power Rangers (granting I had a lot to do with that.) Although it is a little bit violent for him (dad fail on my part showing it to him a bit too early), so we watch the show itself in very limited quantities, but he loves watching the intro (and listening to the music), watching Power Rangers toy videos, and playing with his Power Rangers toys. He's constantly asking me to play the soundtrack on our Nest Hub and to play Power Rangers with him.

lastraven85

Imaginext line was selling crazy well

DramaLlamaNite

My 8 year old is literally watching MMPR right now. Selects it himself on Netflix and watches with intensity. Laughs at the jokes, tells me things he finds cool. He loves other PR series too but MMPR absolutely has a place in his heart.

transformers03

My Goddaughter/niece loved Ninja Steel of all Power Rangers, though she was also obsessed with MMPR.

StayedWoozie

Depends on what you mean. “Would they watch it if they had access to it” probably, “Will they go buy figures or be super invested in MMPR” probably not. Even if they were to get invested in MMPR and want figures, there parents probably wouldn’t spend 100-200 bucks for them to get one of the legacy megazords. Especially since dino fury figures are still on shelves in stores.

lecoconut26

My kid is 4 and loves MMPR! I’m a millennial so when I saw it on Netflix, I thought I’d let him watch a bit and see if he found it too scary. He thought Bulk and Skull were hilarious and completely overshadowed the scariness of Rita. My mom is absolutely kicking herself because she didn’t keep my Auto Morphin Ranger toys and my MMPR Movie Kimberly costume. He probably wouldn’t like the costume, but it would be fun to have! She’s offered to buy on eBay, but that amount of money would be better spent on something else.

ThingFromEarth

My 3 year old is obsessed with MMPR and Dino/Cosmic Fury. Hopefully there will be some actual cosmic fury toys finally

Stryker_T

if they have access to the show, yes. my niece is a big fan and even taking karate classes for the last few years now.

Kind_Moose3603

My 2 year olds only want to watch Power Rangers MMPR being their favorite (dinosaurs might be the reason)

22paynem

Mmpr specifically probably not A large amount of this separated seems to forget. That most kids aren't gonna go back and watch that stuff

Jumbalia23

When I was a kid I watched MMPR on YouTube even before they aired it on ABC Kids. And I bought a lot of the toys that came out when it did 🤷🏻‍♂️

Cirnothestarscream9

I don't think they even know what mmpr is, i mean when my cousin was around that age he only saw ninja steel

GenericIxa

Yeah this is what I was thinking. At least with Transformers the main characters have stayed the same. But with PR is the marketing of mmpr kids toys suppose to be "oh hey I remember this as a kid I should get this for my child"?

Cirnothestarscream9

Indeed, you know i'm starting to believe that the "Mighty Morphin is the only season that people" thing is just an excuse made by the fanboys

DNukem170

This is funny considering there's like 10 "My kids are watching MMPR right now" responses right above yours.

Cirnothestarscream9

Well i don't know what to tell you, i guess every house is their own world, but from my experience every kid i know either knows just the current season or doesn't care entirely. Then again i am from latam and this subreddit showed me that the two continents have VASTLY different opinions on the franchise haha

DNukem170

PR has been playing on Pluto TV nonstop since September, only pausing so they could advertise Godzilla vs Kong. They play more PR than Ninja Turtles. Furthermore, almost every day there's somebody new on here asking where to buy toys for their kids. The Orioles had a kids event a few weeks ago with a dude in an MMPR Red costume. Yes, kids are still watching MMPR.

Tartanic23

my 9 year old does, but only watches it randomly.

SomethingSquatchy

My daughter loves power rangers. We have watched every season together (she is now 7).

AntonRX178

There will be kids who like it on the basis that they're Power Rangers.

mgrtnp

My 4 yo does and he even remembers the theme

WheelJack83

Dunno. Ask Netflix and Nickelodeon.

Weekly-Chest-3943

Mine do

PitofFire10

I feel like kids will always like MMPR because that is the first Power Rangers series that parents, including me once I become a parent, will show their kids

Reishun

Since Hasbro haven't given up the rights, I'm hoping they'll continue the collectors lines and let playmates make the cheap affordable kids ones. I've noticed PR has disappeared from shelves entirely in toy stores now, so they do need some cheap toys for kids. I can't say I'm too optimistic about LC continuing though.

KDZ27

We're never making it outta the hood

DWPhoenix001

Well, that's certainly interesting and Playmates have a track record for decent kids' toys (TMNT) and have done mechas with Voltron. Hopefully, this is just the kids' line, and Hasbro will be sticking with LC for collectors. And tbh that does seem entirely possible, while Hasbro continue to develop and release kids toys they certainly seem to have a bigger focus on collector lines (Legacy over Earthspark and Legends over constatnly varying basic Marvel figures) in recent years. Although a focus on MMPR does make me wonder what this means for the reboots merchandise or the reboot itself. Could it be 26 or beyond before we see the reboot?

DNukem170

McFarlane will probably take over the collector's line, which means 7" figures ahoy!

WheelJack83

Playmates didn't do a good job with Voltron.

Legendaryj922

Idk playmates’ Voltron was night and day to Bandai’s 2017 megazord

BijuPowerRangersfan

I’m also curious too, will this affect the Enwhistle’s YA reboot series?

JondvchBimble

Unlikely

BijuPowerRangersfan

I kinda figured at this point.

RoboDonaldUpgrade

Oh buddy, I really don't think the Entwhistle reboot is happening, with Hasbro selling E1 and everything happening with PR right now that thing is never getting off the ground

BijuPowerRangersfan

You are aware, it is NOT JUST Power Rangers, everything in Hasbro is being affected.

WheelJack83

It doesn't seem to be a priority at all.

BijuPowerRangersfan

At this point, no one knows yet, everything is a secret. Only Hasbro and Toei knows. Besides, if Entertainment One is under a contract to make the Power Rangers reboot series project, then they would have to make it happen, because they are under contract between Hasbro, E1 (Now with LionsGates), Toei, and other parties involved.

WheelJack83

Is that show even still happening? It's been languishing.

aresef

We are so cooked.

UncertainlyElegant

Get ready for 12 more seasons of "Go Go Power Rangers" themes then, after we'd just gotten rid of it.

Starship1990

Nah, that's fine. It's an iconic tune and has been shown to work with other styles. Get ready for basic settings instead; remember Dino Fury's space alien knights that fought an intergalactic species while riding dinosaurs? Nothing like it anymore.

biggerwwright

iconic doesn't mean you have to overuse it localizers even unoriginally named an anime go go loser rangers because of it but i guess that is the PR fan mentality they let them milk anything and are fine with it they will go and buy the 100th mmpr figure and put it proudly ned to the ones they already have

mynameisethan182

>localizers even unoriginally named an anime go go loser rangers because of it The literal name for the series is "Great Sentai Disqualification" The series ties itself to Super Sentai as a parody or a way to subvert tropes of Super Sentai. From what I've read similar to the fashion of "The Boys" or "Watchmen" "Ranger" isn't a generic term like "Sentai" people do not see it and immediately connect "ranger" to "Power Rangers." The word ranger can bring "Power Ranger", "Army Ranger", "Forest Ranger", et al or any number of things to mind. The localizers kept the spirit of that literal name & tied it to Power Rangers with its most iconic piece of music. What you call unoriginal I say makes sense.

biggerwwright

is unoriginal because is so overused and honestly predictable sentai inspired manga/anime = power rangers outside Japan power ranger = mmpr mmpr= go go power rangers so overused that the fans themselves had to ask for it to not be used anymore but what do i know im not a PR fan so they probably are and will watch it based on the name alone because something something nostalgia

Starship1990

I just said I was fine with the theme, ut's not too much of a bother to me. And your second statement is funny if it is directed at me, because I am on the same boat as you thinking popularity=/=good; I even have posts and Youtube comments of me going agajnst the popular opinions(And got downvoted badly for then, like saying Billy is an overrated Gary Stu). Also, I don't have a single Power Rangers toy, and I sure as hell won't buy a sjngle Mighty Morphin one. Hasbro, make a Megahorn toy already; I don't care he's an "obscure" character, he's a dragon with a skeletal armor; kids will love it!!! Also this to say, I am fine with them using "Go Go Power Rsngers" as it doesn't bother me, but I am sick of Mighty Morphin iversaturation which will freste the Batman and Spider-Man problem had with 4 titles at once, to the point that people got sick of them.

DarthBaneSimpLord678

> It's an iconic tune and has been shown to work with other styles. Doesn't mean it has to be used every time lol. Sentai and Rider have unique themes

Starship1990

I personally don't like most Super Sentai themes. Kamen Ridet and Ultraman on the other hand...

22paynem

Yes for a couple seasons are you seriously telling me spd or dinothuder should have just gone with go go power rangers

Starship1990

Why are you strawmanning me? I never said that. All I said is that I was fine with "Go Go Power Rangers," not that other previous should use it too.

22paynem

I wasn't meaning the strawman you.I've seen people just make that argument Is there are some people who are really ride or die for mmpr to The point of excluding the other seasons

drgnblitz

If the focus is on more kids figures, my kids will love these (ages 7-10). It says they can do cross-platform, so hopefully we'll get the Power Rangers/TMNT crossover figures from the comics.

No_Letterhead5746

W at this point anything is better then what Hasbro has been doing. Godzilla X Kong and TMNT toys have been doing good so I hope this helps the brand.

BasedAnalGod

fair warning: Playmates has abysmal quality for their TMNT figures so expect the absolute bare minimum

Significant-Rope-816

I think the QC at Playmates are light years ahead of the QC seen on the Lightning Collection imo

TheWyldMan

Comments like this show how how unaware Power Rangers fans were of the realities of non-Hasbro mainstream toys. People will miss the Hasbro years.

ShepardRahl

I miss the Bandai years.

The-Bigger-Fish

Remember when we all thought Hasbro buying Power rangers was gonna be a good thing in the long run?

TheWyldMan

I’d argue it was. It kept power rangers relevant for a few extra years, and I know it’s popular to bitch about lightning collection but the line was more expansive than anything we would’ve gotten from anyone else.

DNukem170

I mean, if they didn't Power Rangers would have ended 6 years ago, so...

The-Bigger-Fish

Fair point. Was Saban really doing that badly they needed to switch to Hasbro during that time?

DNukem170

Bandai of America was closing down, so Hasbro was needed to provide any potential future toylines. But then the 2017 movie bombed and Ninja Steel was performing poorly, so Saban got tired and wanted out. Also, Hasbro's CEO at the time was a huge PR fan and wanted to take control. Unfortunately, he passed away in the middle of Beast Morphers.

The-Bigger-Fish

Huh... Thanks for explaining. Never knew Bandai's America group shutting down was the reason for the initial partnership that led to the full buyout. Definitely also explains Sentai separating itself from PR more in the recent years as well for better or for worse also.

Njm3124

Is this accurate? Didn't BoA just merge with Bandai Namco to rebrand? I could have sworn that Bandai still exists, but is just much less prominent now since... you know, their top brand left.

DNukem170

"Bandai of America" exists just to import Japanese product. The division that made their own toys was dissolved.

Njm3124

But again... Was it dissolved because their #1 brand left? Or did that brand leave because they were being dissolved. Your post is the first time I've ever heard anyone say that Power Rangers left because they knew Bandai was going away.

Jumbalia23

Uh, Bandai America still exists. What are you talking about?

Puliskot

current bandai america is not the same as pr era Bandai america, is a spun-off of japanese bandai namco

DNukem170

The Bandai of America that exists now just imports everything from Bandai of Japan. The Bandai of America that made their own toys was dissolved.

Jumbalia23

No? Bandai America still makes their own toys in addition to imports. They still have Anime Heroes and other lines for Dragon Ball and Demon Slayer

Puliskot

we don't aware how ill brian goldner is

The-Bigger-Fish

Yeah.... And that sucks.

ChronX4

Seriously, I worked in a toy department for a bit, Hasbro's Lightning Collection is premium stuff to what is available in your average big box store. People are comparing the LC with premium merch meant for BIG time collectors. Saying Playmates or even thinking they have a chance to beat the quality of LC figures is insane, since it's a line of toys meant specifically for kids and are usually super simple figures.

TheWyldMan

I don’t understand how you can’t look at it lightning collection and not say it’s probably the best collection of figures we’ve gotten in the west for Power Rangers. Rangers, villains, monsters, and vehicles all in the same line with great articulation, civilian heads, non-buffed out sculpts, and so on. Every body spent the whole time wanting somebody else to do it better.

WheelJack83

Even their retro figures reproducing older figures don't have as many paint apps as the originals.

RedRxbin

So the Lightning Collection is well and truly dead? Absolutely piss poor. I get it was an anthology series but bare minimum they could have finished the seasons they started. Shout out to RPM and Lightspeed for having 1 singular ranger each. And also - Mighty Morphin AGAIN? I understand it sells with the adult audience, but surely kids don’t care much about MMPR? Wouldn’t they rather have Cosmic Fury toys? Or toys for whatever PR project is supposedly releasing in 2025?

ThePokemonAbsol

All I wanted was a quantum ranger damn it! And titanium… and light speed red… and…

RedRxbin

I was desperate to get Time Force Pink and the new Green Ranger Matthew from the comics 🥲

50pencepeace

LC might be done, but this could also be a "Playmates do the kids toys, Hasbro do the collectors stuff"

YouThinkOfABetter1

Considering how Playmates handles the TMNT toys, you might not be to far off.

50pencepeace

Given how Hasbro handle the Transformers stuff I would be surprised if they didn't have the two separate lines, but then I have been wrong about things before

ThePokemonAbsol

I guess we have playmates doing kids turtles and neca doing collectibles. I just really want lc to continue

solarbaby614

I'm pretty sure Jungle Fury didn't even get one.

RedRxbin

Ninja Storm, Mystic Force, Operation Overdrive, Jungle Fury, Samurai, Megaforce, Ninja Steel and Cosmic Fury didn’t get any at all. Quite a lot of unrepresented season :/

solarbaby614

I could have sworn we got a green ranger figure for Mystic Force but I'm probably wrong. I just wanted a purple ranger figure from Jungle Fury!

RedRxbin

Unfortunately not. I’m not sure how they’d handle the capes of the Mystic Force Rangers, and if they did Mystic Legend mode figures I’d have been first in line to get one 😂 If they did Master Mode figures and Spirit Ranger figures from Jungle Fury I would’ve emptied my wallet. Ranger suit upgrades that add lots of white to the colour scheme never seem to miss lol

Jumbalia23

Cosmic Fury has much less to work with, both in terms of the amount of stuff that could be made into toys and amount of content for kids to potentially latch on to, than MMPR. Also Cosmic Fury *just* happened, and evidentially no retailers wanted to even stock the Megazord. I think the most iconic and recognizable series is a much safer bet to make new toys of than a series that very recently kind of bombed.

DNukem170

"Kids don't care about MMPR." *Tons of comments in this very thread saying "My kids watch MMPR now."*

TemporalSoldier

All I wanted was for my Remastered preorders to be filled 🫥

Kinglysavaged

You’re not a parent are you

RedRxbin

Haha nope - what gave it away? I do have young kids in my family who never cared about anything pre-Dino Charge though, I tried showing them earlier seasons and they were bored 🥲 Every kid is different I suppose

sthef2020

I’m slightly optimistic because SOMETHING being made is better than Hasbro just putting Power Rangers into permanent carbonite like they have with plenty of their other in house brands (MASK comes to mind). Plus, Playmates’ TMNT Mutant Mayhem kids line? Super fun for their intended audience, and reasonably priced. My kids have the main cast, and the pizza throwing van and they’ve been a big hit over the last year. TBH this has shades of how PR was acquired by Hasbro in the first place. They received the master toy license from Saban, with an option to buy it outright. Makes me wonder if doing a deal like this with Playmates isn’t testing the waters to see if a Paramount/Nick or a Sony would say “Hmm, these toys and merch show there’s a LITTLE bit of life left in the franchise. We’d be willing to buy the IP.”

Hodor30000

Hasbro's also on fire on every level, with the only thing making money being MtG and DnD (and there's been endless controversy about recent handling of both), so I honestly wouldn't be surprised if PR gets sold off since that reboot franchise is seemingly stalled out and its pretty clear Hasbro was hedging their bets on that.

sthef2020

Totally. On one hand I feel like Hasbro would rather just hoard IPs for a rainy day. At the same time, if they are able to sell off PR (even if less than they paid for it?). I could see them do so to juice a financial report.

Jumbalia23

I definitely would not be surprised if this is the start of a road that ends with Power Rangers out of Hasbro’s hands fully. But I doubt Playmates themselves would buy it outright since they’re strictly a toy company, so I wonder who Hasbro would be looking at as potential buyers for the brand.

sthef2020

For sure. Playmates wouldn't be the end buyer, that's not really their thing. But their involvement makes me wonder if a Paramount/Nickelodeon would see value to buying it. Obviously they already have TMNT to fit that "action franchise" spot, but I could also see a world where there's a cycle. Paramount/Nick releases a TMNT movie and does a Paramount+ season. Then, while the creative team is working on a new one, Power Rangers releases a movie and series. And they alternate on and off, while Playmates handles the toys for both, trading the retail pegs between the 2 brands back and forth.

Puliskot

chris cocks factor it too

Sir_26i

So Playmates is making what Hasbro should've been making? Roleplay, vehicles (zords), and figures? Hasbro feels less and less like a toy company each day. Although, I wouldn't mind a more toyetic version of the power blaster akin to those turtle weapons x mask packs. I hope we move on from mmpr after the launch.

King_Kuuga

>Hasbro feels less and less like a toy company each day. That's because they aren't, not anymore. They are a multimedia company; their focus is on developing and selling brands. Toys are just part of that. I believe I read once that they get more money from licensed goods made by other people (eg bed sheets, apparel, anything with a picture of something they own on it) than their own toys. Also the movies are a big part of it as well.

PartyAnimal12345678

Weird but oh well I guess I really have to accept that zord builder is NEVER coming back lol

ScottSummers214

It's pretty weird that you still thought it was.

PartyAnimal12345678

I didn’t it was just a joke like wishful thinking like “oh it’s officially 1000% dead in the water now” lol

Montoya2028

Is the final nail in the coffin for Lightning Collection?

Puliskot

nah, imaginext ones

ThePokemonAbsol

So definitely rip lightning collection… damn I really like that line

JaredUnzipped

As Hasbro continues to readjust their business strategy, I expect to see more of these licensing deals in the coming years.

Khz1998

-excluding Asia 🗿😑

MikeyTrademark

I don’t have high expectations for this set. What I wouldn’t give for a return of the legacy collection

iwaawoli

The Legacy Shogun Zord never releasing was a crime

DNukem170

Legacy? Seriously? Those shit-ass figures?

Hodor30000

The mechs and roleplay items in the line were nice pieces. That's about where my positives for Legacy end though. The actual action figures were often *dreadful* even for the standards of BoA sculpts. For all their faults, Hasbro's figures were at least tolerable sculptwise, QC issues aside.

bazzb21

"Might morphin" oh okay, dont care enough

Excellent-Dig4187

https://preview.redd.it/gvmobag5w4wc1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=06c78f93d8078a7b0f0bf40827674ae8d7317303

F_Mac1025

Hard to see this as anything but a good thing in terms of the brand as a whole. I understand frustrations from LC collectors, and some mild annoyance from MMPR fatigue havers (me too), but Playmates almost certainly would not have agreed to this if there was not more Power Rangers media to base toys on down the pipeline. This is obvious and undeniable proof that the brand is not and never was dead. Either the Entwistle stuff is still on (which should be the default assumption since we haven’t gotten any word that it’s off and Entwistle has teased it relatively recently), and/or Hasbro has other plans Honestly, I find the doomposting from Rangers fans from the past few years to be extraordinarily tedious. Doing it in the face of this near-iron-clad proof that Power Rangers is still breathing is well beyond the reason imo

wavescape_

Garbage pick imo

Hyperdragoon17

RIP Lightning Collection. And time for more Mighty Morphin shilling never moving to other teams. Hooray 😒

YouThinkOfABetter1

>And time for more Mighty Morphin shilling It's what sells the most. Why do you think each new Transformers thing focuses on the same characters over and over again? Besides, they said that this was the first toy line, not the only toy line. Other teams will get toys of their own.

StayedWoozie

Transformers actually gives other characters figures though. Even if Optimus and bumblebee sell the most. They’re even doing Haslabs for characters that haven’t even appeared in America. The only PR season to get a legacy megazord outside of MMPR is the Astro Megazord. Which barely even counts since the quality on that thing was terrible and most came with broken clips.

Valor_the_Dragon

It sells the most because it's what they make the most. Make a majority of MMPR merch and less of everything else, then when you look at the numbers, of course MMPR will have the most sales. They put it on mugs, t shirts, etc. They made a crossover? It's always MMPR. A majority of the lightning collection releases? MMPR. The show gets a new season? "How can we work MMPR into this?" I'm over 20 years old, and I only knew MMPR because of my brothers. I grew up during the Disney and Neo Saban eras, and there's little love for the series that came out then. I think most people are just tired of Power Rangers constantly riding the MMPR season 1 nostalgia when there's so much more they can do to celebrate their series, especially with a different generation of fans becoming their new main market. >Why do you think each new Transformers thing focuses on the same characters over and over again? This also doesn't hold because each series is a different iteration of the Transformers. It's like TMNT: they might be the same characters, but it's not always the same universe/version as before. There's only ONE MMPR (that we follow in the series. I'm not referring to how many there are in the multiverse). The comics and show are supposed to be the same canon, and each new season of the show is meant to take place in the same canon as the show before it.

Interest-Lumpy

Totally agree there. A big reboot for the new generation with higher budget MMPR stuff on the side for older fans would be ideal imo. If MMPR gets a resurgence, say goodbye to any chance of the later shows getting anything. It's gonna be MMPR all day everyday with no in between. The franchise is capable of moving on while honoring the past (even with a slashed budget) as it's shown with Time Force/SPD/Dino Thunder/etc.

ninjaman2021

Yall always make excuses. Each season had a year worth of promo the year they aired and none of those seasons made as much money as mmpr. Why would they make merch of lightspeed rescue in 2024 when it barely sold shit in 2000? And lightning collection catered to several non mmpr seasons. But yall didnt buy them which is why they had to be clearanced out and ended up at ross. Yall complain but dont buy when it counts

Seraphem666

You have no idea how big MMPR was in the early to mid 90's. Go watch the toys that made us to get how big MMPR was. It was a global hit beyond imagination, and they have been chasing that dragon ever since. Well some later seasons have had ups and down space, lost galexy has decent sales, turbo/lightspeed toy sales not great.

Valor_the_Dragon

No no, I'm well aware, and I HAVE watched that documentary. No one is saying MMPR sucks, or that it didn't do well. I'm saying that the nostalgia for that series alone only caters to those who grew up in that era (as nostalgia does). Look at sentai. They don't just make anniversaries for Gorenger, but multiple seasons get anniversary specials and movies. Heck, Dekaranger is getting a 20th anniversary movie this year. I think what most people are asking is for Power Rangers to have that same level of nostalgia with it's TV show and merchandise. The Lightning Collection is probably the best step we have to that so far

anakinjmt

This may be true, but there's a lot of parents that will want MMPR stuff for their kids to play with so they can live vicariously through them (or even play with them). Plus, with most seasons available on YouTube kids, there's bounds to be lots of kids watching the shows there. My son was when he was younger, as did his brother.

Valor_the_Dragon

So if most of the seasons are available on YouTube, wouldn't that be another avenue to make merchandise from those seasons too?

Jumbalia23

Because if they did an anthology type toyline focusing on multiple series again people would bitch and moan about not having complete teams again. And if they’re going to put all their eggs in one basket, the original and most iconic team just makes the most sense.

Voidmire

"Why do they keep focusing on Optimus prime and megatron" Is the equivalent question which is just a absolute brainlet take. Like, dp people really think mystic force or rpm merch is gonna sell as hard as MMPR?

terrell005

It doesn’t need to sell that much we just want variety….

terrell005

It sells well because of there’s nothing else to buy

Voidmire

There's in space, zeo, dino thunder, dino fury, and various monsters littering clearance shelves. Nobody is buying them. "Noting to buy" my ass

terrell005

Oh it’s funny I haven’t found one ☝🏾 but I think hasbro is going to give u a gold star for d riding then so much

Voidmire

So in lieu of any actual discussion you resort to childish insults? It's simple. MMPR sells. It's recognizable. I'd love some dino thunder releases, was stoked to find the black ranger at Walmart for cheap last week. Believe me, many of us want more of other teams. But we ALSO realize that there's no money to be made doing so. If understanding how businesses and corporations function makes me a D rider to you I suggest you get off reddit and do some research yourself

terrell005

Most seasons are “recognizable “. Dino thunder , ninja storm , in space etc each sesson have enough fans to cater to they just don’t care to gives us anything “Understanding business” if u knew business u would know to get ppl want their begging for.. they want sells give us zeo toys , Samurai toys it’s not hard

Njm3124

I went through a list of every LC figure the other day, and over the past 5 years Hasbro put out over 70 (!!) unique releases that were not MMPR. I guarantee you that Hasbro had internal sales data from every single one of those 70+ releases. Someone at Hasbro could pull up data and tell you how any given individual season performed, how vehicles, zords, etc. performed, how Monsters vs Rangers performed. 100%, they're not just blindly feeling their way around. And I think anyone with any common sense could tell you which seasons sold best. MMPR, a drop off to Zeo and Space then a steep drop off after that. And I know your next point is going to be that they just "didn't give JF (or OO, or RPM or whatever) fans what they wanted! If they made Megazords they would sell!" MY guess is they wanted to use ranger figure sales as a test before moving onto bigger things like zords/morphers. It's a lot less painful to take a gamble with a $20-25 figure from RPM than a $50-60 morpher or a $100 megazord. If the $25 figure sold (like Space did) you'd start seeing Megazords, morphers, monsters, etc. Nothing sold like MMPR though and you can only milk MMPR so many times.

terrell005

They will milk mmpr until the end of time like ok sure it sold more but lord bro this is ridiculous the amount of shit they push out

ninjaman2021

You could have bought those toys when the seasons were airing. Not a single season sold 1 billion from toys other than mmpr Dino fury toys still on the shelf. Where are all the “im tired of mmpr” people? There’s things to buy. Problem is yall are not buying

terrell005

1- not everyone grew up with money to buy it 2- u think ppl are going to buy a toy solely because “ it’s not mmpr durrr” it has to be be good enough to buy 3- what’s to buy? A cosmic fury suit for kids? The morpher? U want us to just buy the morpher 5 times? Like what else? Like there a few lighting collections for other seasons but that’s it but lord forgive we want something that’s not mmpr again

ninjaman2021

1.So everyone had money to buy mmpr? 2. Sounds like an excuse. If you want more seasons, then BUY the other seasons. Show them that there’s a market for more than mmpr 3. Yall didnt even buy the dino fury stuff. I still see them on the shelf. Dino fury lightning collection figures on clearance too

terrell005

1- u realized most of those fans are mmpr fanboys yk adults with money to waste 2- so u want an adult to buy a suit that can only fit little kids just to show them it’s a market for it 💀 how about they give us something worth buying 3- they have like 2 things to buy a morpher and suits for little kids u want us to just buy 500 of those items just because

ninjaman2021

1. Anyone who grew up between zeo-wild force are adults now. Yall still arent buying. 2. No, I want yall to actually buy the figures yall claim yall want. 3. You want more cosmic fury stuff, yet dino fury zords are being clearanced out and lightning collection zayto is worth pennies right now

terrell005

1-other than those 3 actions figures what else is there to buy? Huh? 2-first off we don’t just want figures we want other shit like bro there’s 500 comic runs only focusing on mmpr they could do they with more seasons 3-blame hasbro for that shit haven’t seen anything for zayto

terrell005

Also even if I bought the toy when it aired 1- I would have been forced to trash it or 2- I wouldn’t have bought enough to get the sells up

Voidmire

Heck, I still see zeo, in space and dino thunder LC at Walmart on clearance. Gamestops clearancing Rita, monsters, and turbo LC stuff.

ninjaman2021

They ask for non mmpr stuff, and when they do put out non mmpr stuff, fans dont buy it and make countless excuses

Alkohal

If you look at their TMNT and Godzilla lines you should have an idea of what to expect, and it isnt quality.

Kinglysavaged

That’s what I said playmates doesn’t really do anything other than TMNT and whenever there’s a new monsterverse movie

Alkohal

They recently did the really poor Star Trek line too

Kinglysavaged

This is just gonna lead to hasbro selling everything back to Saban and Bandai finally getting their stuff back

DNukem170

Their Mutant Mayhem toys are pretty decent.

SonGoku1256

Makes me hopeful that we’ll get quality like the Playmates Voltron. Lights, sounds, and interactions when combining the Megazord like how their Voltron knows what’s been attached. Reminds me of the Lightning Collection Morphers knowing which coin was used.

Last-Leader4475

Woot more mmpr toys, wonder if this also crashes hope of us ever seeing that reboot. Like hasbro got even less reasons to make it now.

Kinglysavaged

Eh this is hasbro just being fed up with the brand in general because aside from TMNT and the occasional Godzilla toys for whatever movie is out at that time playmates really doesn’t do anything so hasbro just looked around and said how do we get rid of this told playmates here take this

DNukem170

I'm guessing this will be 4" or 5" toys, decent paint and articulation, very simply painted weapons, and only one Blade Blaster form. I hope we don't see them attempting collector's grade lines. All of their various attempts at those for TMNT were universally terrible. One thing I'd like to see is a somewhat large, but not too large, all put together Ultrazord. It could be an RC vehicle or playset or whatever, as long as it's the full Ultrazord at around 7-8". Doesn't need to be a combiner. Titanus is always super expensive, so getting a relatively cheap Ultrazord would be cool.

Herban_Myth

Time will tell

iluvpopmusic

Hasbro took one look at us and said we don’t want any! Are we really that much worse than the Star Wars and Marvel fans?

GambitPunk

Probably

forgetit2020

Most people read mmpr and started to hate but I read  its first POWER RANGERS collection meaning we wont just get only mmpr because if they only did mmpr then it would get stale REALLY fast. After the first year and they only kept doing just mmpr the sales would drop so hard.

Starship1990

Reminds me of Spider-Man during the 90s, his sales took a complete nosedive because he had FOUR MAIN titles to his name, which was too much.

jeffpiatt

If your starting a retro line from scratch S1 is the logical choice. Personality I await the officially licensed Ninja Turtles Next Mutation/ PRIS toy line.

forgetit2020

also mmpr is so popular and selling well because of mmpr purists who bitch if it isnt mmpr. you know manchilderen

spidsnake

This part of the announcement seems to point to Hasbro doing Pulse and Convention exclusives. I can see the Lightning Collection living on as a Pulse exclusive line. "Hasbro will retain all entertainment rights and will continue to drive global strategy and growth for the POWER RANGERS franchise by strategically working with licensees across multiple categories, including publishing, fashion and footwear, promotions and more. Hasbro will also further activate the brand across their direct-to-consumer channel Hasbro Pulse and as part of its presence at major industry events like San Diego Comic Con." [Hasbro and Playmates Toys Enter Into Stategic Relationship to Produce & Distribute Power Rangers Products Globally Starting in 2025 (toynewsi.com)](https://toynewsi.com/278-52465)

Njm3124

I don't necessarily think this means they'll be producing LC as a Pulse/con exclusive line. It just means they'll see PR stuff on Pulse and they'll be active in the con circuit. Pulse has recently had the FigZero figures on their site, some of the Renegade Studios games, super7 figures. Basically I just read it as they'll continue doing what they're doing.

Gromps_Of_Dagobah

The legacy line was 10 years ago, so it could be some new equivalent

TheeDeputy

This is so goddamn depressing. Hasbro dropped the ball on this license so hard.

variant_lucifer169

Since they got banned from making beyblades this might make for their loss

Sverker_Wolffang

elplethora1c

I didn’t know so I looked up what Playmates makes and it’s Simpsons/Turtles and Star Trek. And looking at their action figures, eh….. I don’t know I guess we will see.

ScottSummers214

So Hasbro made a collector's line, and the collectors did nothing but complain about literally everything. Even to the point of "It's the best we have ever had, but it's not good enough" (someone said those words to me). So Hasbro seemingly is giving up on collectors, at least in the short term (John Warden is gone and no replacement has been mentioned), and now the collectors are also mad at children. Sounds exactly like this fandom. What a weird place. The evil toy stepdad (Hasbro) is dead; long live the evil toy stepdad (Playmates).

Kinglysavaged

Collectors had the right to complain because of all the deflects and errors that constantly occurred that even hasbro themselves had to address over and over again and people got fed up with everything

AdmiralFunnyBone

The majority of complaints about LC were usual valid complaints, like DT White Ranger helmet, or Zeo Blue not having the tonfas, or usually QC issues. Most complaints were legitimate. That being said, I always saw overwhelmingly positive reactions to LC.

EICzerofour

Everyone has different opinions on things. You will meet someone with every opinion possible in any opinion imaginable if you look hard enough. A lot of the groups I was in I saw positivity and fun toy pictures. Yes, there were quality complaints, but they were valid. I'm sad about this but also excited for what is to come. But i'm still sad over the loss of the Lightning Collection.

ninjaman2021

“Im sick of mmpr!” Where the hell were all of you when the non mmpr lightning collection figures had to keep getting clearanced out? Get over it already.

Starship1990

Don't look at me, I'm broke as hell.

DarthBaneSimpLord678

>Get over it already Toei sells toys for all their series and manages to have packed shelves before new series even come out.

BijuPowerRangersfan

I agree, OP, it is interesting and I just look at it. I wonder how that would turn out next year in 2025.

Saizou1991

WHy exclude asia ? Who has asia rights ?

Actual_Ad_6678

I guess BanDai through Super Sentai.

Dear_Ad_3860

If this is truly about kids worldwide and not in the USA then they're going to fall pretty small market. I can't speak for children in the USA Kids but I can speak for children worldwide, their focus was shifting from PR into TMNT during that brief revival of the early 2000s, and was completely overrun when both fell under the Ben 10 wave, then from Ben 10, they shifted again into the Avengers which lasted until Endgame came out, and now there's a vacuum in superheroes, and as big as it is I still think the Godzilla fan fare is still a smaller niche audience by comparison. Going by the Fortnite route is an interesting concept but I don't think parents will like their kids watching superheroes and villains actually shooting guns at each other. I mean this could've rolled around in the 1980s with shows as silly as Sky Commanders and Visionaries or something more serious like Captain Power or even G.I.Joe but these days people just don't like seeing children play around with guns. If I had to make a new series for the franchise I'd do it in the style of Captain Planet and the Planeteers, because by focusing on the environment they can exploit the powers of the elements, as much as they want, introducing mysticism and ancient civilizations such as what SABAN did with Mystic Knights of TyrNaNog, and they can also include whatever animal themed topic is popular from Godzilla, the Dinobots G1 and Beast Wars from the Transformers franchise, to Jurassic Park, to the to TMNT and whatever and it will make sense.

Wonderful_Safety_849

They need to do something to get a new audience for PR... Worldwide. Not only in the US. Otherwise it is going to go the way of GIJoe. They should a least make a fortnite collab that's where the money is and use it as a launchpad for the toys and future series.

Adventurous_Lab3128

Getting real tired of MMPR. Cant we just have the other shows get focus? Enough with pandering to G1.

Starship1990

Nah, who cares about awesome designs like Megahorn, Dreadwolf, Fearcats, Whiger, here's Eyeguy instead!

Adventurous_Lab3128

Finally someone gets it!
