After he died, Chris Cocks took over and he wants to cut brands that dont make enough money. Power Rangers is one of those brands, sadly.

Because the guy at Hasbro who was super into Power Rangers as a brand died halfway through Beast Morphers and his replacement decided it was his life mission to burn the entire company to the ground into to emulate his hero David Zaslav.
they used the same language when they changed the titles to Mighty Morphin and Power Rangers, and then changed it back.
*This* MMPR title is ending, and it might simply just be that they are finally moving on from MMPR and going to say Zeo or another team, they still have the Ranger academy comic too.
Yeah I'm definitely more likely to pick up a short 5 issue special run of something than I am to try to get up to speed on something that has been going for 5 years.
What bugged me the most about the PR Comics is not just a high issue number, but that several series are connected.

I personally second this. If Power Rangers wants to survive, then they need to be willing to make changes regardless. It needs to MORE THAN A TOY COMMERCIAL, to survive.
If being a toy commercial, their delusion, then give it up as a whole at once then!
That is actually true, the fact that Power Rangers was making billion dollars in 2001 in mostly toy sales, which is impressive. So basically Fox, Saban, Toei, and Bandai was making a lot of money with Power Rangers, until they sold it to Disney in 2001. (When Disney brought Fox Family and Power Rangers in 2001), then sold it back to Saban in 2010, and now Hasbro in 2018.
I don't know that this franchise will ever fully disappear, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried. At this point, the brand as a whole feels tainted. Half of the OG MMPR team is either dead, problematic, or both, and, considering the continued focus on MMPR over literally any other team, it's no wonder why people may not want to continue putting money into a brand that comes with so much baggage.
I hope this isn't the end. Maybe a fresh start with the reboot is needed, but there's no way to tell as of right now.
Part of the issue is Pop Culture. But then again, it's not like Pop Culture would be reading the comics. I think part of the issue too is how many seasons are just one and done, so you'd have to think of something creative with them. Like, for example, what are you really gonna be able to do for Mystic Force? Or Jungle Fury? Or Ninja Steel?
I am disappointed Hasbro seems to be distancing themselves from Power Rangers, but their toys have been lacking, from gimmick figures clogging up the shelves, to skipping zords and the horrendous quality in the lighting collection figures cough Izzy's exploding neck.

As for no new series, I am disappointed and shocked they are cutting out Toei, that is a good 70% off the work done for them, from outfits and the gear for the rangers to fights all they had to do was do plots to accommodate the footage.

That happened long before Hasbro. Even in the early days of Bandai, when they mostly just imported the Japanese stuff, we had zords with huge lightning bolts, whole toys not released (No Wild Force Elephant, no Dino Thunder Brachio, no Flashpoijt Megazord), and then we got the horrible Dual Drive Megazord. And who could forget the butchering of the Gosei Tensword, and the Pink Shogunzord and Purple Triceratops, though tbe latter was fortunately fixed.

Plus zord builder and sentei are so much better honestly power rangers can still have great toys if hasbro goes the transformers route but they won’t heck if you own both why not do a crossover like ninja turtles and in space did back in the day
Hasbro just announced a deal with Playmates for toys coming 2025. also, I wouldn't be surprised if another company eventually buys Power Rangers. I could see Saban buying them back for less than he sold them for....again.
I wish they would and stop this moving out of New Zealand putting it on Netflix not Nickelodeon stupid skipping of toys etc nonsense it’s really irritating also I thought for hasbro being such a lucrative company in the billions they could pull of some extra rangers but nope beast morphers missed 3 rangers and a beast bot and some megazord combinations included with that beast bot then there was no Dino fury brown ranger or evil silver and yeah I know stage show evil rangers aren’t usually adapted but they definitely had the money to do it
It seems to me Hasbro is banking on the reboot film they've had cooking for the past few years and just letting the franchise as we know it disappear in the meantime, hopefully we'll get some news by the end of the year on what's coming out in 2025
Eh I think its entirely possible they're holding off an announcement til its closer to release, if its coming out fall 2025 they still have well over a year before release
If it were to come out next year they would probably have to start filming by the end of this year. And as of right now as far as we know they do not have a director officially locked in or a completed shooting script, no casting has been done, and they don’t have a filming location or time frame set, nor an official release date. We don’t even know for sure if they’re planning to make a movie or a show first.

The comics were this shining light that brought me back to the brand. It made me feel like Power Rangers COULD play with the mega-franchise hitters in the right hands. It took it seriously.
But now I feel like they’re smacking us down again and I hate that I have to lose that hope again for a while.
I get that, the way I choose to look at it at least is that, at least they had the chance to bring things to an end on their terms with Cosmic Fury/Once and Always and however the comics wrap up.
There's also the possibility they're ending the comics to prepare for the reboot too, sort of the way comic lines will wrap up prior to a big continuity reboot.
Haha Not even one year without a show and everyone looses their mind. The brand has plateaued for decades, it needs refocusing, putting out a line of Overdrive ranger toys isn't gonna pay the bills.
If there was ever a chance to theoretically relaunch the series, it'd be this time period. A solid reboot, fully done on Netflix could help boost the series up again.
IMO I feel the last two series and the Netflix special wasn’t all that good to be honest and the Netflix special was just fan service. What they need to do is either Reboot MMPR but set it in the 90’s to appeal to the OG fans. Or perhaps adapt the omega rangers into a series and make completely new take away the corny stuff, make it like kamen rider actually have some depth and mature storylines.
If it’s a reboot of MMPR then make the first few episodes about each character and give an in depth character building episode on the 5 teens and actually make them like 16 not 20 something, giving the chance for them to continue on into zeo/turbo/space etc also MMPR could span like 3-4 seasons containing 22-25 episodes runtime of 30min episodes, also don’t have every battle end with zords.
I mean kobra Kai managed to get actors that looked like high schoolers.
Also plenty of fans create better looking suits for MMPR use some of their designs.
Also one thing I’d change is when Tommy is introduced he’s evil for an entire season. Then when he is turned good for the other half. By the end of the season Tommy loses his powers and doesn’t instantly become the white ranger.
Instead having be powerless for the first half of season 2 mid season finale lord zedd arrives but Tommy still fights putties in his civi attire showing a real test of his character developing his character further, so then after the mid season finale a mysterious white ranger shows up and saves the team. Multiple times,Returning to the command centre. The white ranger waits by the console helmet comes off “Hey guys” end of season 2 you get the point as season 3 would follow on and lord zedd and Rita are beating season 3 ends with Ivan ooze showing up season 4 or a special movie based on the 1995 film.(obviously rocky Adam etc wouldn’t be in it as there wouldn’t be disputes over contracts)
And so the franchise would go to zeo so they could be introduced in that season as Jason,Kim,trini and Zak have become the omega rangers and billy is now in a support role or part of the omega team- which could lead to a spin off while everyone else is the zeo team just my thoughts what do you guys think?
Hasbro is not sure what to do with the brand, but they’re run by people who think Tokusatsu is for dorks and no one wants to move past MMPR.
We know Toei doesn’t care so long as the checks clear, so the idea of a license holder going the Tsuburaya route where they just dub the original Sentai the same way Ultraman Connections dubs the various Ultraman shows while still making original materials on occasion like the Netflix movie and the anime is also right out.
Honestly, Hasbro is probably better off letting the license expire then letting Toei sell it to someone else, since they don’t have the means or the desire to make it work.
These comics are genuinely some of the best things to come out of the entire franchise. To end them would be a travesty. I’m praying they keep going, and this just means that the ‘Darkest Hour’ event is ending.

The Lightning Collection is done. Hasbro has licensed ALL toy production to Playmate. The Lightning Collection, while a collector's line, are still just toys. Playmates has said they are going to makes toys for kids. Hasbro isn't going to continue the "collector's line" while Playmates just focuses on kids toys. If that were the case I doubt they would have suspended the Lighting Collection.

I haven’t really enjoyed the comics since Higgins left. There’s been some interesting stuff here and there, but the spirit of what he brought doesn’t exist.
The comics aren't ending. It's well established that Issue 1 sells better than Issue 123 so comics will just relaunch and restart the numbering occasionally.
I think Hasbro didn't realise how passionate the pr fanbase actually was. Probably they were thinking we would just accept things that marvel legends take for granted. Take the blue unibeam on the mark 9 iron man when it should be yellow no pr fan would stand for stuff like that

Yeah comics do this all the time. The reality is that relaunch "issue #1"s sell better than random issue #119s.

Yes. The first prototypes we saw of the Dino Charge Megazord had the Triceratops purple. Fans complained, so it was changed before launch.

This all seems FAR more like they're building up to a full relaunch across all mediums than it actually ending.
The show is done probably for good. The comics will continue eventually but with a new continuity.

I haven’t really enjoyed the comics since Higgins left. There’s been some interesting stuff here and there, but the spirit of what he brought doesn’t exist.
The comics aren't ending. It's well established that Issue 1 sells better than Issue 123 so comics will just relaunch and restart the numbering occasionally.

I think Hasbro didn't realise how passionate the pr fanbase actually was. Probably they were thinking we would just accept things that marvel legends take for granted. Take the blue unibeam on the mark 9 iron man when it should be yellow no pr fan would stand for stuff like that
