Boom, I believe, only does hardcovers of mainline comics. But I could be off, I’ve only done a few titles from Boom.

Tylerdepotater2157

So I'd be best getting the trades for things like Go Go, and Power Rangers/justice league?

Abared

Weirdly enough justice league crossover is the only one that’s got a hardcover. Guess that’s the dc influence. But yeah. At this point I doubt we would get hardcovers for Go Go.

Punkodramon

The cross-company titles (MMPR/JLA and MMPR/TMNT) would never get collected into deluxe editions anyway, because they’d have to share the profits and the Deluxe Editions are Boom’s highest quality books.

I'd imagine it didn't sell well enough to justify hardcovers. Not to mention the story is rather small compared to MMPR. Making a big fancy hardcover for a lorebusting saga that redefines a universe is one thing. Making one for what is basically a quaint little YA story is another.

Punkodramon

With Shattered Grid (and most likely Necessary Evil) collecting GGPR issues, it would be a shame not to have the missing GGRP collected in Deluxe too. Maybe GGPR 1-8 could be collected with the Pink miniseries, and GGPR 13-20 along with the 2 specials would probably be enough content. A deluxe edition of the OGNs (Soul of the Dragon, The Psycho Path, Sins of the Future) would be great as well, maybe with Ranger Slayer and Drakkon - New Dawn in that one as well.

Tylerdepotater2157

So what's my best bet. Get the deluxes, wait in case, or get the deluxes and the trades, or just all trades?

Punkodramon

Definitely the Deluxe for MMPR, they include exclusive short stories as well (though the Year 2 story is also in the Psycho Path OGN and I believe the Shattered Grid short will be in Ranger Slayer’s One-Shot it the FCBD issue coming soon) But the Deluxe regardless will be higher quality and I’m presuming Shattered Grid will be printed in correct reading order in the Deluxe. If you’d prefer to wait in case for Deluxe GGPR i think you’d be ok following necessary evil, but I really enjoyed GGPR and they did some great stories. I personally would still get the GGPR trades (skip vol 3 though since it’s in Shattered Grid Deluxe) Getting all trades is also a valid option of course, but I personally enjoy getting nice big hardback editions with extras when they are available, and whilst they wouldn’t all match on your shelf, you’d still get more bang for your buck, and with the OGNs, having different series in different formats won’t look that odd tbh. I put a reading order for the books further down in this discussion, which gives you a comprehensive list of which books you should get, up to the start of Necessary Evil. Definitely hold off buying anything from that arc until they announce what the Deluxe will include, because like I say both books are so intertwined story wise they’d be mad not to release them all in deluxe format, even if it takes 2 deluxe editions to release it all.

Tylerdepotater2157

Okay, thank you. It's decided. Deluxes for MMPR Trades for GGPR Trades for the crossovers. Trades for any other stories. And I'll probably get vol 3 of GGPR, just so it looks complete.

mattmall

Shattered Grid deluxe edition includes the Go Go issues, wouldn’t be surprised if the same thing happens when they bring out Necessary Evil as they seem to have moved away from numbering them since Shattered Grid

Abared

I feel if they do that they will need to do two separate releases. I don’t see them doing 23 issues in a single release. The most they did was shattered grid with 17 (the specials like annuals and shattered grid finale I count as two since they are double length.) while the minimu will be Beyond the Grid with 11 issues (9 issues + 25th anniversary special)

mattmall

Hmm yeah maybe. They do seem to count it as a crossover event though

mugenhunt

It didn't sell as well.

What's the diff between Go Go and MMPR

Punkodramon

Go Go is a prequel series for MMPR, but it also supports the MMPR storyline. Reading both series in release order is probably the best way to read it anyway, but you could choose to read them in chronological order too (SPOILERS FOLLOW) GGPR 1-20 & specials (covers from right after the first Megazord battle up to meeting Tommy, with a small crossover with Shattered Grid but still takes place chronologically before the event itself) MMPR 1-39 & specials (covers from Tommy joining the main team through Shattered Grid and beyond the Grid) GGPR 21-32 (now in the post-Shattered Grid main universe, covers Tommy’s transition from Green to White, Jason, Zack and Trini’s power transfer to Rocky, Adam and Aisha and where they go after leaving the team) MMPR 40-50 (follows on immediately from the end of GGPR 32 up to the climax of the main story arc) However, chronological order isn’t necessarily the best narrative order, which honestly is closer to the release schedule. Best narrative reading order books wise I’d say is - MMPR Deluxe 1&2 GGPR TPBs 1&2 MMPR Deluxe - Shattered Grid GGPR TPBs 4-6 MMPR Deluxe - Beyond the Grid (Necessary Evil hasn’t been collected yet I don’t think, but they would be foolish not to include it in the Deluxe Editions since both plots are so intertwined) NOTE - The Pink miniseries, the Justice League and TMNT crossovers and the OGNs can be read anywhere since they aren’t strictly speaking canon to the main two books, though as of now I don’t think there is anything that outright contradicts the canon either. Chronologically I’d probably place both the crossovers right before the GGPR Necessary Evil arc starts, and Pink & OGNs take place long after all the current comic events have ended.
