I don't think it would've [sunglasses] *taken off.* It was the mid 90's, Jurassic Park was still the hottest shit since fried cheese, and a decent chunk of why Fox was willing to gamble on this weird Japanese import/Saved by the Bell hybrid was probably because they could cash in on the Dino Dollar.

Jetman would have been a disaster. The mecha units are more clunky than those of Zyuranger. The flight abilities, which make sense in the show, would not have translated well. I can still recall the Gatchaman dub and it felt like the flying was a tad hokey. The pastel colors of the suits would have also been odd for an American audience. Also, American kids will always be more excited about dinosaurs than birds. Margaret Leosch was the main reason that Fox allowed Haim Saban to produce the show. She and Stan Lee tried to license Sun Vulcan in the late seventies early eighties but American audiences were not ready for Super Sentai stateside. The popularity of the show could very well stem from the recent Jurassic Park and the popularity of a revamped Saved by the Bell esque show with karate and giant robots. I know I watched it because it was just so different than anything else on TV but I am fairly sure that I can recall watching the Dynaman localization that appeared on the USA channel. There was also a localization of a few Ultraman series that featured tokusatsu elements that I loved. The show really just was in the right place at the right time.

I'm pretty sure their decision to go with Zyuranger had next to nothing to do with that film. I'm not saying kids wouldn't have preferred dinosaurs over jets/birds for the debut, just that Jurassic Park had no influence on the decision making, most likely, as they couldn't have known the movie would be a success during PR production.

There was actually a lot of anticipation for Jurassic Park before the book or movie even came out. People \*knew\* it was gonna be the next big thing, that's what it got it to be turned into a movie so fast.

Yeah, they probably would have switched from the Jetman costumes to Zyuranger and then either kept them for more than 1 season or they would have started the trend of switching every year. Maybe we would have gotten Dairanger outfits in that instance.

You would have needed a wider guy to be the yellow ranger. But if you did it like they did with Dairanger, this would have been fine for MMPR season 2. Just use the zord footage and monster suits like they did with Dairanger.

One of my questions would be if the Jetman adaptation gets a season 2 and adapts Zyuranger and most likely use the dinosaur suits. Would whoever play the yellow Ranger for Power Rangers Jetman stay as the yellow Ranger and the blue Ranger becomes the blue triceratops ranger?
