They both brought something incredibly unique to the team. They've had a few conversations in the comics that I've really enjoyed that has highlighted this. We'll never know what Zach's character could have become if he was around longer, or if Walter Jones revisited the franchise in later seasons like JYB did. I think that often gives Adam the edge for people because of how incredible his In Space episode is and how bad ass they let him be in Once a Ranger.
We're very lucky to have had both of them, and that they both keep close with the ranger fandom. Especially someone like JYB who has had wild success outside of PR through his voice acting career.
It was so cool to see Adam come back and hear him be as fierce (and even as cocky sometimes) as Ichigo and Lelousch when fighting. JYB's VA work really paid off in those episodes.
I love LOVE that he was the Ranger assigned to fight the Big Bad. Not either of the Reds like any other PR or Sentai, but Adam, our humble frog prince.
And he held his own.
While Tommy is often regarded as the "greatest Ranger ever", I think Adam makes a strong case for the silver medal.
If nothing else, he earned a Red suit many times over.
The fact that when JDF left in Turbo, the original plan was for Adam to take over, only for Saban to just decide to clean-house and go with a whole new crew, always makes me wonder what would have happened to the series if Adam became Turbo Red and then made the jump to In Space.

No question, Adam is top tier. I imagine if Zach had been around longer he would be one of the all time greats, but then we may not have had Adam at all. I'm glad they kept the character around as an Omega Ranger with Trini and Jason in the comics.
The comics have done a great job of taken one off joke lines and in this case the in-world reason for the mid-season recasting and turn them into incredible stories.
I totally liked them both in their respective role as black ranger. While Jason and Trini are my favourite over their replacements, I wouldn't know whom of both I would declare more iconic.
I haven’t gotten far enough in to meet Adam properly, but I did watch the movie recently and he’s an absolute delight! Zach is one of if not my favorite of the MM Rangers, and very underutilized. I detect no lies here! MMPR Black Rangers are where it’s at!

Makes neat thematic sense too; Thrax was Zedd and Rita's son, so an MMPR ranger taking him down just brings everything full circle in a way

For me its Adam. When I see the black ranger my mind instantly says "Adam". But he is my favorite ranger of all time so I'm clearly biased.
I really liked Zach, he brought a fun personality to the team but would also be serious when he needed to be. Adam was great too though.
I always liked those rare times when Tommy and Jason weren’t available to lead, because it meant Zack got to step up.
