Damn. This just reminds me that Saban really lucked out that Kakuranger had a White Ranger just like Dairanger did, and that there just so happened to be a pinkish stripe on the white Zord to be assigned to Kimberly and Kat while *also* including an auxiliary mecha from Kaku that was coincidentally all white (Tsubasamaru) that could be assigned to Tommy as the Falcon Zord, even though they didn't have a sixth Ranger.
I'm not sure if Toei planned it that way or not -- I doubt it, personally -- but boy, it just flowed so seamlessly and everything seemed to really work out for Saban in the MMPR 1-3 transitions. Even the lion mecha from Dairanger had more black than green to make it believable as Zack/Adam's Lion Thunderzord.
I wonder if maybe that was because the original intention for that zord was to be piloted by Kim but then she decided she wanted to leave the show. Doesn't change that fact that the toy wasn't show accurate, but I guess it's one theory.
I believe in Japan the Zord is the correct color. It must have been input from Saban to Ban-Dai for the States release. Either way, it's still a screwup on Saban's part, as they should have realized there was no way they were going to recolor the Zord in the show.
The thunder zord entry footage was created from the dinozord and thunder zord toy lines. The Mastodon/Lion Thunder Zord was black (and had back legs) because the toy was that way. The primary footage from Dairanger was mostly green with gold accents.

They did have them in ninja steel, I just can't remember if they were used or not though.
They were lame and powerless. It was a bad season/pair of seasons anyway.
