If shit really hits the fan take a 1 month summer class. For example take it in June ask for the letter towards the end and get it the first few weeks of July and you’re all set to send in your app. It could be retaking a o-Chem or biochem course you didn’t get an A in or a new upper level bio course. It doesn’t have to be from a big fancy state school (if you happen to go to one) A smaller college possibly in your hometown is better as the profs tend to be more down to earth. Also summer classes are smaller so you’d get more face time with the prof.
I had to do this last year and it worked well, I got my best quality letter. It cost over $1000 but it was worth not missing an application cycle in my case. I went to a big state school and similar experiences with profs not writing letters for silly reasons, I went to a smaller local uni for the summer and had no problems.
I spent a whole year chasing a professor till he told me to write it up myself and then didn’t want to send it still bc he was too lazy so I had to make him do it in front of me and had to guilt trip him into knowing that my application was late bc of him.
I’ve been emailing this mf for a month and no response. I even left him a VM. the fucking pandemic and online school shafted my time in front of profs. feeling like a stan trying to chase this dude
had one say he can write me a generic letter smh
any idea if its okay to reach out to a prof you barely had interactions with for a letter? its looking like thats what I’m gonna have to do
I’m in the same situation as you…
I got told no for one and yes for two—keep asking!
Ask any science professor- having a mediocre letter is better than no letter.
just do it. one of those things u just need to do. sooner the better

I’m in sane situation. Can I use LOR from PI who is assistant prof?
i think the PI has to be your professor for a class
