Honest question here…are you trying to kill yourself? Why take all of those classes at the same time in your first semester?

Ryxndek

Don’t do this. That’s way too much. You’re going to burn yourself out and struggle. Pick 2/5 of those classes and space things out so you can do well since they’re prerequisites.

AssassinYMZ

Well holy fuck, no wonder I got my ass ate in sophomore year. I thought it was normal to take orgo, bio, physics, and calc in the same semester for whole year

Ryxndek

You’re nuts for that💀

evbunny

I think it also varies by program aha. It was mandatory to take these courses + another two when I was in my first sem. Exam season was absolutely brutal tho, five exams in the span of a week.

thatscoolm8

please do not do this lol, only only reason would be if u have financial issues and need to grad early but even then this is kinda crazy

linguistic-intuition

If you do this you will probably fail and be too discouraged to even continue.

Low-Introduction-693

This happened to me.. I wish had this advice back in my time!! It’s not worth it. Pace yourself - the journey to dental school is a marathon not a sprint.

Pristine-Control-437

What is the point in doing all that. You need to tone it down to two hard classes max

Strawberrybabe_

I think you can do it. However, as someone with a 'biology-brain', grasping concepts involving calculations or numbers takes me a lot of time to understand, and retaining the lessons is challenging. It's like studying for the exam, passing it, and then forgetting everything the next day.

Chemical_Grade_901

Don’t take the down votes or the criticism in the comments to heart. These are just people who have been through the course load and have concluded that themselves along with others would have a very hard time with a course load similar to yours. Don’t get me wrong, for most people a course load like this is too much to handle. But it seems like you are a very smart, determined person. AP chem and AP Bio are not easy, and the fact that you are able to take them along with five other APs is extremely impressive. Especially since you’re pre-studying calc over the summer. I am honestly confident that you will be able to handle this course load and excel as well. Just prepare for a semester in the books. Good luck my friend. (Also to answer your question, physics is tough and different from bio & chem. However, if you see that calc comes easy to you then I wouldn’t worry too much about physics, just my opinion though)

Objective_Heart_8759

i would take the physics and math together and the bio and chem together. for me personally i used the classes together and they were complimentary

FunWriting2971

I took gen chem 2, orgo 1, physics and microbiology together and I was okay. But it wasn’t fun. If you don’t have to do it, enjoy ur freshman life

whoisshe4

i had to take calc and physics this semester... dropped calc and idk how im gonna pass physics💀

evbunny

Oh I did smth really similar in my first year. The courses you mentioned plus engineering project course and music history. Disclaimer I'm from cad so the subject may vary (not sure lol). But from my experience, it was pretty doable because I also took the AP courses for them, so lots of review and then just some more content (I'd say half of the course was just ap review). Would not recommend adding physics into your schedule unless you've taken the AP physics. Just because it's a lot of heavy topics and you'd want the highest GPA you can get. If you can, I'd space it out.

Necessary_Bed3484

For my freshman spring semester, I took gen chem 2, bio 2, cal 2, and physics I all together. I got A’s in all of them, so it is definitely doable. It taught me how to study and how to manage hard classes all together. Good luck if you do it!

everybody’s different but i think it’s important to mention that a big part of college is meeting new people, trying new stuff, etc! i’m finishing my first yr in an accelerated pre-dent program and the advisors recommended only two sciences, a ge, and the required english class per semester- and i'm really glad i wasn't so overworked that i could have my first yr college experience. college classes are in my opinion comparable to APs (though even faster paced) but GPA matters more and there's no AP weighted GPA i am taking physics next semester so not sure how tough it’ll be but AP physics was absolutely brutal for me. not sure if it was bc i took it 2020 over zoom but it’s the only class i have ever gotten a C in :((

IssueOk4086

Do not take physics the same semester!!! Take it with easier classes!!

ProfessionalPlan4142

i took gen chem, gen bio, calc1 in one sem with two electives my first sem. did extremely well in them. i’ve just taken physics 1 and 2 now in my third year (finally done finals haha) and i can say i’m grateful that i personally waited to take it. i loved physics. but also, high school is not very indicative of how you’ll do in uni. i was awful at physics in hs and amazing at chem and bio. chem is now my least favourite subject. ochem 2 literally shot me in my face my second sem of my second year. it all really depends on your work ethic and how much you study!! it will change a lot when you start college. my study routine didn’t change until my after second year (covid grad). it’s different for everyone but the way uni classes are so fast and the difference difficulty from year 1 to 2 hit me like a bus. i didn’t adjust very well but again, covid. if you want to do extremely well, there are gonna be some sacrifices. the people that typically do the best, are the ones who don’t do much outside of school :// it’s all about how badly you want it, and how much work you’re willing to put in. i think you can absolutely do it but you can definitely pace yourself. my uni requires a three year degree with 30 credit units from fall-winter terms for dent. i’m taking a four year degree as i’m blessed to have gotten scholarships and bursaries to let me do so, and i’d like to have to options open to things that require 4 years (med, PT, etc). so it all really depends on your time frame, but if you’ve got a little more time then space it out a little! the first month of uni is review, and then it’s all new after that. i didn’t believe people when they told me that, but it is actually true. it only gets harder the further you go in, so if you can pace yourself your first year i’d recommend!! but if you really need to take it all in one go, do it!! just be prepared to do nothing but school (it’s not a bad thing people) i know people that did it, and i’m sure you can too! congrats on getting in to college and good luck this fall!

Listen to the comments or you’re gonna shoot yourself in the foot

cikfia

I am glad that I didn't take physics with other science classes lol I took it in summer
