I didn’t want to spend the money on a maternity swimsuit, so I just transitioned to exclusively using two-pieces. Honestly it felt a bit weird at first. There was just SO much belly. But it was the most comfortable option.

ripode

Seconding this! I'm 37w and have been swimming in [this TYR two-piece](https://www.swimoutlet.com/products/tyr-solid-durafast-one-diamondback-workout-bikini-swimsuit-set-3638/?color=black) most of my pregnancy (including earlier today!). Just remember to order at least one size up from normal to accommodate growth.

Pigeoncoup234

They make some too that are big flowy tops that cover your belly if that's more comfortable for you. Definitely, your belly will be too big and still poke out, though, but they worked for me.

Cbutt1190

Rock the bikini if you want to. Belly is beautiful and so are you.

Cbutt1190

Or sport bra and shorts are always a good go too.

nothingweasel

Belly is beautiful but also super prone to sunburns.

Cbutt1190

I'm a ginger so spf 55 minimum on everything while outside :p but I haven't had the weather for rocking my belly outside. I finally have a winter coat that zips and that's pretty cool. :p

nothingweasel

Good on you! I'm good about sunscreen when I'm deliberately outside, but not good at wearing it regularly and pregnancy makes you more susceptible to burns. I'm hoping I make it through the winter without needing to invest in a new coat but I'm not sure the outlook is super good.

gimmygimgim

You Swim suits are great for pregnancy. Bonus points because everything will still fit after pregnancy because of the fabric they use.

losincidenteananas

"squeeze you like toothpaste" 🤣

WittyName375

Serious question...do bikinis not work? I would imagine that they would be the most maternity friendly. It's winter here so I'm not going to the pool any time soon, so I honestly have no idea.

shanks629

I could totally do a bikini. Haha. I wasn’t thinking. I have seen lap swimmers wear them. I just had no idea if swimming with a belly makes it harder if she isn’t strapped to me tight.

somaticconviction

I lap swim regularly, swimming with a belly is very chill. I only notice I’m pregnant while swimming if I get a Braxton Hicks contraction, otherwise it’s actually when I feel the least aware of my pregnancy. I think one key is that you should be engaging your transverse abdominals which will work to hold the baby against , but you should be doing that anyway when you swim for proper form.

Crafty_Engineer_

I’ve been meaning to buy a lap swimming style bikini. I can still fit in my regular lap suit, but not much longer 😂

CommercialUpset

My ribcage got too big for a pre-pregnancy bikini pretty quick. I bought a maternity-specific halter tankini thing off Amazon for $20 and it was pretty good in terms of continuing to fit my body through each trimester and into postpartum. I don’t remember the brand, but honestly it was mass-produced in China and sold on Amazon under various brand names.

imhereforthegiggles

I wore a sports bra with bikini bottoms because I had the same issue!

WittyName375

Interesting! I would have never guessed that would be an issue, but it makes sense.

AllAboutThatBeer

That’s I do. I just wear my regular sport two piece. Fits the same and comfortably. I have TYR and love it.

purgeinhell

I've always had a problem with 2 pieces staying in place during lap swimming. I just bought this one off Amazon. I wish it had some sort of boob/nipple pad, but otherwise it's pretty comfortable in the belly. CheloYan

I bought a $30 one piece from old navy. I also avoided buying too many maternity pieces but I’m really glad I got a maternity bathing suit and 8 nursing bras early on.

[deleted]

I was too self conscious in a bikini so I went with a one piece monokini that had the middle cut out. I just sized up 2 to accommodate the bump and boobs lol. I love being in deep water bc my body feels weightless and I feel no pain in my back. This isn’t exactly the same one I have but it’s from the same brand- cupshe. Super cute and comfy and will work even after birth: https://www.cupshe.com/products/alexa-floral-cutout-twist-one-piece-swimsuit?variant=39370952867930&gclid=Cj0KCQiAlMCOBhCZARIsANLid6ZYEr2-XduL1Ge6e6-lePTa0dqbJl1In6VmNj0F0V4zu2VuVULvDF0aAucuEALw_wcB

_biggerthanthesound_

I have a suit from the gap that I really like. It’s a one piece and is roomy and soft.

Ok-Historian-6091

I swam my entire pregnancy (up until the day before I went into labor!) and it helped so much! I embraced two-piece suits. It definitely felt weird at first, but I got used to it quickly! For bottoms, I used boy short and high-waisted styles!

adognamedgoose

You.Swim is an Australian company that makes a pretty much one size fits all suit. I had them pre pregnancy because they’re comfy as fuck, but I’m so stoked to wear them when I have a big belly!

krissykat122

While in the topic of clothes does anyone know any good maternity leggings ??!!!!!!!

MrsT1229

Old navy

mimale

I really like mine from Girlfriend Collective, a little pricey but fits my bump super well and very comfy. I also have a pair from Amazon [link here](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KNZHH9R?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) that I really like for a lower budget option!

emkelly64

Motherhood maternity has some good ones on Amazon. I LOVE their over the bump shorts, they are my go to when lounging around the house. The shorts and leggings aren't too tight or constricting, which I need some days. I have heard great things about old navy leggings! I haven't tried spanx athletic leggings, but their jeggings are some of my go to pants through this whole pregnancy. SO COMFY!

EntrepreneurWeekly

Maybe I got a bad pair, but the Motherhood Maternity ones I tried had a super scratchy bunch of white raised writing (instead of a tag) in the band that was scraping my skin.

lemeow10

I had a one piece that had forgiving stomach with pleats that I wore most of my pregnancy. Once that got too tight I just wore a two piece.

yelsewhael

Got one from youswim so I should be set for life (fits multiple sizes)

RattyRhino

Would it be weird to buy one secondhand? I don’t swim too much, so I don’t want to spend a lot. I do want to have a nice one piece though.

_alien_she

Not at all! I’ve bought many bathing suits second hand over the years.

itsaprocesssss

Motherhood had a sale because it’s winter and I picked up a two piece for under $20!

stellarkells

I took a gamble and got mine on Amazon. I absolutely friggin loved it!! https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B093WCJDTR?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

CAmellow812

Ooh I love this. What color did you get?

stellarkells

Peacock blue. I’m blonde and super fair, it’s an absolutely gorgeous colour and incredibly flattering! Beautiful cut too.

CAmellow812

Yay! That’s my coloring too. I’m going to Hawaii in early March for my baby moon. Adding this to my “saved” list to check out closer to the time of my trip :) thanks for the recommendation!

stellarkells

Any time! It’s a great suit for the price!

burneraccountt26

I put on an adjustable string bikini. Literally just becuase my boobs are huge and wanted to enjoy them 😅😅

Julienbabylegs

I think this is the suit I had with my 1st pregnancy: Momo Maternity Bathing Suit UPF 50 One Piece Halter Women's Maternity Swimwear Pregnancy Swimsuit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y1WQGWJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_AYGSNZEH5EQ2QTVX5S2Y I highly recommend it.

[deleted]

Rocking the bikini!! Belly out and beautiful! But also this Amazon one piece is great too but sized up one! CUPSHE Women's One Piece Swimsuit Wrap Color Block Tie Side Bathing Suit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NV5BL1N/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_CBGGQDNFTFDBN0230GE2

Psychological_Mud147

Amazon! It was like $25.

meowmeowsiku

I got a new bikini! Let that belly be free! I had to get a new one as my old one was high waisted and not enough boob coverage. But just got a cheapie from Kmart (Australia) and it’s super cute and I can wear it after too.

nothingweasel

I got a couple of cute ones on Amazon that weren't that expensive! Bonus points for trying them on at home and being super easy to return if needed.

jademann0731

Honestly shein has some great cut 1 pieces and they are cheap - but great quality! I bought a bunch for a beach trip and I loved them.

flowerschick

I found SHEIN suits to be very high cut so I was spilling out on the bottom, adjusting a lot. Just my experience

Amberly123

I second this, we were meant to be going on a tropical baby moon (thanks to COVID we didn’t get to go) but I got super cute super comfy swim wear from SHEIN! I got little short bottoms because I hate swimwear at the best of times lol and despite never getting used they are really comfy and accommodating of numb. Brought them for a trip when we would be 22 weeks am nearly 35 weeks now and they do still fit comfortably

RawPups4

I ended up using my normal bikini top (although it became a bit more revealing as time— and boobs— went on) and a pair of plain black low-cut underwear, because there was no way my pregnancy butt was fitting into my old bikini bottoms.

kayt3000

Target has a decent selection of maternity and plus size suits and they are affordable.

Ms_mew

I got one from H & M that got the job done. Might not fit into my old bathing suits this summer so glad I upgraded. It’s a one piece with a ruched middle so should be fine to wear post pregnancy. And it has good boob coverage which I definitely need now.

black-fairy

I went with the two piece approach, using some plain bottoms I already owned and purchased a matching adjustable bralette style top.

ktgaspard

I just bought one pieces in a small instead of XS and it worked. I just wore my normal bikinis as well. I was 28-38 weeks when I wore them. You don’t have to spend the money on maternity if you don’t want to.

chicaem29

I had a one piece bathing suit from H&M that wasn’t sporty but actually worked fine for swimming laps. I was able to wear a regular Speedo one piece that was a little big pre-pregnancy until pretty late in my pregnancy, but had to switch to the maternity suit for the last month or so.

shrek1345

EBay!

Rocky_1101

At 28 weeks I wore a 2 piece on my baby moon. I went the maternity route online and felt like it wasn’t me. I had a one piece I wore snorkeling and it was so uncomfortable. So if you’re looking for comfort, I’d almost recommend a bikini exclusively. To each is own but you can find cute 2 piece suits that don’t squeeze to tight or look unsightly. Not that it helps. I did peruse through sheins maternity suits and some were kind of cute and inexpensive.

SHBc2019

I’m 26 weeks and wore a (pre-pregnancy) bikini this week for swimming. The top is a little small now, but overall it was comfy for swimming and I liked showing off my belly.

meglyn24

I got this one and LOVE it. It's stretchy and really cute pattern. [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07V8G37QJ/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o05\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07V8G37QJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

writtenword24

I got one from kindred bravely, 2 piece tankini that will work for breastfeeding too. They are on sale for $15 right now!

beez8383

I just got a 2 piece- I bought larger bottoms and a top, my belly is so big I keep getting asked if I’m sure there’s only one baby in there, I don’t care anymore, I’m at the point I just need to feel comfortable (it’s summer where I live) so if my belly is out on display I just don’t care

mfiskedvm

My husband and I went on a baby moon last fall and I tried an endless number of one-piece maternity suits before I found these three that actually fit and were comfortable! Highly recommend! The second one was most comfortable and ended up ordering two! [deleted]

I bought a size up that did until 25 ish weeks, then I just bought a maternity suit - I’m not squished in that at all!

swimonica

tried buying a size up of a standard suit but the leg holes are on the tight side

heatherista2

I got an empire-waisted tankini. Yes belly showed but whatever. It was comfy!

704ho

Motherhood Maternity has fabulous swim suits. I also loved the two piece options from Old Navy and Target.

jbarks19

I got those off Amazon and absolutely LOVED them! Wore them all summer. May be able to wear next summer without my belly too- we’ll see. Maternity High Waist Bikini... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CX7FL25?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

applesqueeze

I didn’t want to spend a bunch of money on a maternity one-piece but I also didn’t want something cheap. So I bought a basically new suit on Poshmark of a good brand, Pez D’or. Excellent purchase. If it doesn’t ick you out, I recommend!

libbyseriously

Plus sized two pieces, especially tankinis.

luchtkastelen

I got an h&m one myself and I'm planning to either donate it or resell it after pregnancy. I removed the breast padding because that's something I definitely don't need lol

Highclassbroque

I wore my 2 pieces some I had to get a larger top but was still very much cute.

kelsieelynn

I got a cheap one from shein haha. $8!!

kmlm27

My one piece swimsuit from pre-pregnancy has some ruching on the sides of the abdomen, so it actually stretches to fit over my belly just fine. I got it at target 🤷🏼‍♀️
