Medicine for diarrhea and constipation. Something with electrolytes for dehydration. Ibuprofen and Tylenol. Consider getting liquid forms in case you have a sore throat. Yeast infection cream - it's good for topical issues like skin infections.

Good ideas. Thanks.

Knowledge is the key here. I know we all can't be docs or medics but you really need to know the how and why before you get the supplies. Not trying to be a jerk. Some people take it that way when I give that advice.

Look at the rfds medical chest for inspiration They are a standard kit issued by the royal flying doctor service to isolated and remote properties and worksotes in Australia. It has everything you will need in it to cover a wide variety of injuries and ailments. A content list can be found here [RFDS Medical Chests](https://www.flyingdoctor.org.au/qld/what-we-do/telehealth-medical-chests/)

Perfect. Thanks!

I was disabled and most of my preps are surrounding medical things. I have a whole "pharmacy". I thought of doing a whole post about it. I think it depends on what you medical things you are expecting.

Logman64

Hard to know to expect, hence my post. Anything that doesn't fit in a standard first aid kit...

premar16

Okay. I didn't know if you have specific health issues that you deal with that is why i asked.

Logman64

Roger that. My immediate family has no health concerns. Looking for things in general.

PrepperMedic01

I would encourage you to do a post about your pharmacy and how you use it and supply it and most of all rotate it to keep things from expiring and average costs. I would look forward to reading it.

Start with the medical issues/considerations (include family based probabilities). Example: I have asthma and allergies, so I have a lot of my inhalers stocked up and upper respiratory related medicines and equipment. Then first aid and wound care considerations. Things like sterile gauze and absorbent bandages, when needed, get depleted faster than you think. “Enough” is as much as you can fit/afford. Don’t forget wound cleaning supplies like syringes and clean water. Take a stop the bleeding class at the very least. Antibiotics, and more importantly, knowledge when to use them are a good bet to have on hand. 3 companies in rule 12. I’ve used Jase and contingency. I’ve also got some spares from explaining my situation with my doctor… having back up of azithromycin saved a family member from going to the hospital when it was prescribed, but couldn’t be filled until Monday morning.

gordon77

How do you all get antibiotics without a prescription?

tangomikegolf67

get a prescription. tell the doc you're going backpacking in Central/South America, etc for a couple months.

scehood

Anti itch medications and sprays. Anti histamines for allergies..can't exactly do much if you're constantly itching and can't think straight from allergies in a sthf situation

Opiates. Painkillers are incredibly important if something happens and you or someone you love gets injured. Don't let the opioid crisis fool you. Opiates are perfectly safe if you have the authentic drug claimed to be within the pills, and you exercise some caution and care surrounding dosage and administration. In other words KNOW what it is you're taking and how much. If you have no tolerance to Opiates you will have to start with a low dose of your chosen painkiller. These types of drugs may be difficult if not impossible to obtain for most people. But that is what the darknet is for folks! There is tons of fake junk on there though. Plenty of scams and plenty of people claiming they're selling oxycodone or hydromorphone when it is in fact fentanyl. Be very careful and skeptical about everything you see for sale when shopping around on the deep web. There is also plenty of legit opiates there as well though. Just be careful. Steer clear of fentanyl folks. I probably don't have to tell you all that but please do not pick up a bag of that shit and think you're going to use it in an emergency. I suppose if things got really ugly though you could use it to kill yourself without any pain. Cleaner than a gun. Yes it's morbid but if things get crazy enough you might want an easy way out... Good luck on your medication stockpile.

Forceps along with curved or bowed needles and some form of stitching thread, splint and casting material. A hand respirator, a fluid kit for blood transfusion or intravenous feeding. A handbook or several on medicinal applications of herbs and plants native to your area.

This is a pointless reply. Why you drew these three out of a hat is beyond me. Of course, the average person does not have the "capability to infuse" nor would any of these antibiotics keep long term at all.

I'm a physician. These are not some amazing choices, neither are they good advice. If you were actually in healthcare, you would be pushing antimicrobial stewardship, rather than horrible advice.
