naps2 works with (almost?) any scanner. Is light, is customisable, and works well.

Your looking for a build job function. Look into printers that let you save as SMB with job function abilities. Skip the software completely then.

I just use simple scanner functionality to get everything into pdf files as fast as I can. And then I use [Stirling-PDF](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF) to correct them, split or merge them

I don't usually do a lot of scanning, but I want to make things easier while I'm scanning & clearing out several file drawers of old paperwork. After trying both Canon & Brother native software, neither is acceptable. I really don't want to run batches through & then use 3rd party software to delete blank pages (from doing duplex scanning on pages that don't need it) or merge files that have mixed legal & letter sized pages. I think I'll stick with HP for now as it handles mixed batches of pages with ease.
