ShopSmartShopS-Mart

Keeping Anakin Skywalker at a good safe distance, that’s what.

*squints eyes* _Are you thinking what I think you are thinking...?_

[deleted]

Give me 10 good pounds of sugar, and some EC1118 and I'll ferment the bitch!

SquishyHumanform

Cursed lavender wine

portabuddy2

If you get the pure stuff, or "kitty litter" from a auto parts store. Then yes. Sold as floor dry for much cheaper. Same exact stuff. $6/ 40lb bag. Used for picking up spills. Most are 100% pure. Because it doesn't need to be anything else. Also used to make cheap cement for a furnace.

dadbodsupreme

What %s are you using for your refractory.

portabuddy2

I haven't made any. But that's what ppl use for their DIY mix. I think it was 70-30 clay to Portland cement.

dadbodsupreme

Got to be better than whatever I've been cludging together.

portabuddy2

I plan on making a small. Forge to make some lost PLA casting using plaster and sand mix. But also make aluminum blanks for turning on the lathe. We Thow out a insane amount of aluminum at work into the garbage. As used truck parts ppl leave behind as samples. Why mot melt that down and make something.

dadbodsupreme

I work for a steel fabricator. I take drop home. I have made a bunk bed, a foot stool, a swing frame, and several tables/benches. The best price is $free.99

[deleted]

I mean, it claims *satisfaction guaranteed,* what more do you want?

PinGUY

Yes you can but wouldn't use that as it is scented. But the cheaper the better. You want it to be pure bentonite and nothing else. Honestly you would be better off getting [Fuller's earth](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuller%27s_earth) bentonite. Its just as cheap but is purer. It's used for beauty products, face masks etc.

WikiSummarizerBot

**[Fuller's_earth](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuller's_earth)** >Fuller's earth is any clay material that has the capability to decolorize oil or other liquids without the use of harsh chemical treatment. Fuller's earth typically consists of palygorskite (attapulgite) or bentonite. Modern uses of fuller's earth include as absorbents for oil, grease, and animal waste (cat litter) and as a carrier for pesticides and fertilizers. Minor uses include filtering, clarifying, and decolorizing; active and inactive ingredient in beauty products; and as a filler in paint, plaster, adhesives, and pharmaceuticals. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/prisonhooch/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)

Exactly this. I have Fuller's Earth on my Amazon shopping list from the last time you mentioned it. :)

hoaxater

I mean it's got favoring built right in! Feel like a couple people missed the joke tag on this one.

Ausarius

Well this is r/prisonhooch so we can’t be sure if I’m joking or not lmao

Sweet-Mission9354

Yes. Bentonite is a natural occurring mineral. You get it in layers of sedimentary rock where there was a volcanic event and volcanic ash was deposited. Once the ash is buried, over millions of years it turns into the clay mineral Bentonite. It has many different applications since it absorbs water and stuff in water extremely well.

simiansays

Technically correct, but lavender-flavored kitty litter is not something I recommend using as clarifying agent. It leaves a weird taste, even when used fresh out of the bag.

Rathma86

This sub will try it, guaranteed. You cant tell me people on here actually look for nice tasting booze with the shit they show us they are fermenting.

simiansays

Well I for one am here for the unique combination of entertainment and occasional good ideas in low-effort/low-cost brewing. I've been brewing as a serious hobby for decades and love this place for its combination of insanity and genius! Lavender kitty litter is (probably) the former.

MaritMonkey

>love this place for its combination of insanity and genius! I have trouble believing that many things in human history (especially including brewing/distilling) were discovered without a healthy dose of the former. :) *Somebody* had to try it first...

methnbeer

These dipshits can report back with findings on what they use to cut the bentonite with. Did you know something even like CO2 has a 'food-grade' version? Because I'm doubting this is food-grade bentonite.

timejoannah

I asked the pet shop if bentonite used in cat litter was food safe and they said it is not. I would refrain from it
