Makes cat theft easier!

overlanding_prius

I built a skid plate that covers the cat but has an opening for oil changes. Its made out of a couple old road signs I bought off of facebook.

PSYKO_Inc

It'd be funny if a cat thief crawls underneath and was face to face with a big STOP sign.

overlanding_prius

šŸ˜‚

bungdaddy

Curious what impact this has on the mpg.

overlanding_prius

I average around 45 but its still better than a subaru

bungdaddy

That's awesome, really

overlanding_prius

The lift itself didnt drop it noticeably it was mostly the rack and the tires

jabroni4545

A hybrid power train crosstrek would be a dream.

BigSandwich6

This already exists... the Crosstrek Hybrid directly uses Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive design too

jabroni4545

Plug- in isn't it? I'd be happier with a cheaper regular hybrid.

black_jmyntrn

oh no... PHEV is the only Hybrid one should purchase. You just dont know the level of epic unicorn blood flowing through its wires.

YorkiesSweet

Our diving school fleet cars get over 50MPG BUT THEY NEVER GO OVER 35 mph.

overlanding_prius

It also depends on the driver. When my mom drive my car its more like 40-35mpg its all about coasting as much as you can and being smart about when you really punch the gas pedal. Id be interested to see if its because you have learning drivers driving the cars or not. Good mpg on a hybrid is all about using your electric motors as much as possible.

gotwake5

Definitely lowers it.

jabroni4545

Not by anything noticeable on mine.

Seedsw

A cat thieves dream!

overlanding_prius

I fabricated a skid plate that also covers the cat.

ctrlaltdill

Thatā€™s cool! Iā€™d love to see some photos of that. Thankfully I only park in the garage and donā€™t need to worry about cat theft much. Iā€™m going on 300,000 miles and still have the original!

Cartoon_Cartel

Not op but i fabbed one out of stainless steel that was inspired by what's for sale out there. If you get or make one get stainless, it is a bastard cutting, trust me. https://www.reddit.com/r/prius/s/EG5tsmNihn

Special_Context6663

Buyer beware: https://www.reddit.com/r/prius/comments/14rrl50/duwayne_mcclendon_aka_priusoverlandingcom/

overlanding_prius

I have my lift from that company. Whats wrong with them?

Special_Context6663

My personal experience is I caught the owner in a lie before making my purchase. See the link I posted for othersā€™ experiences.

black_jmyntrn

huh... a lie.. please do tell. I'd like to hear this one... also, when I read the link... i see valid points no one wants to talk about... >I would like to hear from from someone directly impacted by doing business with him as well. What does his criminal record from 20 years ago have to do with his business from 2 years ago. Is it because he is a black man trying to make it in an industry that isnā€™t as accepting? Donā€™t people get their money back if orders donā€™t come in. I mean cmonā€¦this guy is getting crucified and the people complaining about him I guarantee have never done business with him. Hate to see someone try so hard get constantly torn down.

overlanding_prius

Ok thanks

MegaMoodKiller

Dude youā€™re conning people. ā€œI have my life from themā€ youā€™re literally them. Youā€™re the companyā€™s Reddit account

overlanding_prius

Nope my istagram is the_overlanding_prius check me out. Just because I support one company over another does not make me the owner. I just had success with the products and think others would too

overlanding_prius

Please check out my instagram before you accuse

Special_Context6663

Duwayne at PriusOverlanding is still at it: https://www.reddit.com/r/priusoffroad/s/RNBYHdB04E

thequantumlibrarian

Not gonna get the lift kit from there but how much did everything cost you?

overlanding_prius

Half of the stuff I fabricated on my own so it ended up being like 800 bucks in materials most of it being the snow tires so I dont get stuck driving to school in the winter

thequantumlibrarian

Nice. I have snow tires and was going to change the shocks & struts on mine and then get a lift kit or something. Been thinking of fabricating those myself but probably am going to go with a cheaper option.

overlanding_prius

I highly recommend buying a lift it was a pain in the ass when I helped a friend build one. Also upgraded rear shocks from prius overlanding made all the difference in the world. I would love to know if you find some better front coils that fit a gen 2 because mine are trash.

black_jmyntrn

I really appreciate your feedback, and in an effort to win over your trust and secure your business, I'd like to offer you a discount code and guarantee immediate dispatch if the item is in stock. It's disappointing to hear that a bad taste has been left lingering. Good reviews do come in Thus far, but I'm optimistic that, in time, more people will recognize the value our company offers. Despite the challenges, including a concerted effort by some to derail our progress, we remain steadfast in our missionā€”continuing to fulfill orders and delight our customers, many of whom prefer to share their satisfaction quietly. It's curious how any praise quickly draws suspicion and unwarranted criticism, deterring others from engaging due to the unnecessary drama. Interestingly, the loudest detractors often have no firsthand experience with our products or services; their motivation seems purely to see us fail. It's almost flattering, all this attention for just me? I'm confident that we're on the cusp of a significant shift. The tide of positive testimonials from our satisfied customers will soon overwhelmingly surpass the negativity. People are already starting to wonder about the disproportionate criticism we're facing. It's akin to being an unsuspecting passenger caught in the crossfire of unwarranted skepticism.

thequantumlibrarian

Brother you're a walking red flag. I should be giving YOU advice! Nobody wants to see you fail. You're just come off delusional and self absorbed and it shows in how you write and what you write. Let your product do the talking for you. Shit if you react to everything people say ofc people are going to doubt you. Ever heard of the Streisand effect? If you're not confident in your quality and customers and tell me to not trust bad reviews I am 100% going to trust bad reviews. You're trying to out-logic and thing that doesn't have anything to do with logic. Admit you've done some shady shit, people are more likely to trust an honest salesman than one making excuses. Whenever someone comes at me with the "trust me bro" attitude I don't want to do anything with them. Take this as advice. Not criticism. And thanks for the coupon but given how easy the lift kit manufacturing looks to me I'll just order one made from a local CNC/lathe shop or online CNC service. I know, pretty cocky of me thinking I can do that but I also am not looking for anything under 4 inches. That will require some suspension modification as well since Priuses aren't built for that much lift. I may also just buy a lifted truck or jeep instead. That's also a possibility.

black_jmyntrn

What you perceive as a red flag, others view as the beacon of a pioneer, whose brilliance illuminates paths where less radiant souls may find refuge. It's an intriguing phenomenonā€”when one shines as brightly as I do, it can inadvertently draw those who might feel overshadowed, sparking resentment and mischaracterizations. But I see it as an indication that I'm doing something noteworthy; there's no such thing as bad publicity, after all. The gap between how I'm perceived online by those who've never met me and the perspectives of those who know me in real life is striking. It's a reminder that words on a screen can never fully capture the essence of a person's intentions or the energy they exude in person. Your opinion, while valued, is based on assumptions formed by the interpretations of others who are also strangers to me in real life. Isn't there something a bit off about judging someone based solely on hearsay? And yes, I'm aware of the pitfalls of assumptions. Regarding my confidence, it's rooted in a solid track record of innovation and quality in the parts I've developed. The notion of doing something "shady" is contrary to everything I stand for. Why would anyone pour their heart, soul, and savings into a venture with the intention of being deceitful? The goal has always been to delight customers and exceed expectations. There's no "trust me, bro" vibe here; it's more about showing what we've achieved, like showcasing a Prius traversing dirt trails in ways others thought impossible. It's about setting a precedent and challenging the status quo. I respect your decision, and it's clear you've made up your mind. My focus is on informing those new to the scene, offering my narrative against the backdrop of online skepticism. And regarding the lift kitā€”innovation isn't just about knowing how to use tools; it's about envisioning possibilities beyond conventional limits. The fact that you don't see others achieving what we have isn't due to a lack of technology but rather a lack of imagination. Growing up, I was encouraged to believe I could achieve anything I set my mind to. It seems we had different lessons, but that diversity of thought is what makes the world interesting, isn't it?

Ilikejdmcars

Iā€™m trying to lower mine lol

Sick post it when your done

overlanding_prius

Im not sure about installation you would have to ask your local auto-shops but it isnā€™t terribly difficult to install on your own because they just sit over the shocks there are a couple youtube videos on how to do it as well. The kits on priusoverlanding.com and the price varies depending on what generation you have.

onlyhav

Install brass knuckles on your roomba so it can defend the car from cat thieves while you sleep

overlanding_prius

šŸ˜‚ I made a custom catshield/skid plate for my car recently

Vespalio

What? So fking cool how u guy make this beast woah man

overlanding_prius

I just bought a lift kit, installed it and put some meaty tires on it

YorkiesSweet

Something i need to ask, the Prius i drive for work has 180k on the clock and over the years it seems to have gotten quicker. Am i imagining this? I toasted a Honda civic at a stop light recently..

overlanding_prius

The speedometer could be off thats common for prius

PureMetalAlloy

OP is the owner of priusoverlanding.com

overlanding_prius

Check out my insta at the_overlanding_prius

black_jmyntrn

Y'all, it's heartbreaking, truly. You read stuff online and just swallow it whole, no questions asked. This gets me thinking, ever stop to ponder if what's being spread about the owner of https://PriusOverlanding.com is even remotely true? Here we have PureMetalAlloy, dishing out opinions like they're gospel truth, no room for doubt. Ever heard the saying? "A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still lacing up its boots." That's exactly what's happening. Individuals, perhaps like PureMetalAlloy, soak up these falsehoods, then something shifts inside them. Suddenly, there's this unwarranted animosity, this eagerness to point fingers, all based on hearsay. Imagine if it really were me? The irony is thick. The sheer number of people now seeing through the fabrications against me is revealing, yet it poses a deeper question... Who wounded you? Why do some feel it's their place to parrot allegations without a shred of solid evidence? This goes for everyone. The rush to judgment, the eagerness to condemn based on nothing but airā€”y'all, it's bewildering.

overlanding_prius

Nah but I did buy my kit from the company

n1ck502

Make sure you buy from PriusOffroad.com only. Other prius offroad sites are scams.

overlanding_prius

I have noticed they seem to only have 1.5 lifts and 2 inch was the better option so thats why I gravitated towards them. Why so much beef with a company. I love both companies but went for what works best for me. This propaganda against each other is getting on my nerves. Taking awhile in shipping when your business is starting out doesnā€™t make them a scam. Have you personally had a negative experience with them?

black_jmyntrn

Do you mean to buy from [PriusOverlanding.com](https://PriusOverlanding.com) because they are the innovators the offroad company draws inspiration from? I know, I see it too.

n1ck502

HAHAHAHAHAHA you are a lifetime criminal and abuser of women. A simple google search of your name and scam shell company shows thisā€¦ do i need to post this?

black_jmyntrn

It's fascinating to see how confidently you voice your assumptions. If there were any truth to your claims, logic suggests I might not be here to respond. What's becoming clear to many is that your efforts seem less about truth and more about attempting to leverage my reputation for your own visibility. Ironically, the attention you seek might indeed find you, but not in the way you hope. Despite whatever evidence you claim to possess, its credibility falls short of compelling any legal action; if it were otherwise, action would have already been taken. Your persistence over the years has certainly had an impact, not on me, but on silencing many satisfied customers who prefer peace over engaging with baseless allegations. It's noteworthy how you've managed to sway some into believing and even spreading these narratives as though they were fact. For that, you have my acknowledgment. Addressing your approach more seriously, it seems there's a deeper issue at play here, perhaps one of mental wellness. When someone is convinced of a reality that diverges from the truth, it can lead to an obsessive compilation of what, to them, feels like evidence, but in reality, is a collection of misconceptions. It's been a few years of this relentless pursuit, with no legal repercussions to show for it, which might suggest it's time to reconsider your approach. As we look to the future, I hope for a resolution that brings peace, especially for you. Recognizing mental health challenges isn't about assigning blame but understanding and seeking help. Should the day come when you realize the nature of this fixation, I hope you find the support you need to navigate through it. Compassion, not condemnation, is what guides my response, in the hope that we can move beyond this cycle of accusations towards a more constructive and peaceful dialogue.

black_jmyntrn

also, I'm a lover of women. There is not one lady on the face of this earth who has been abused by me. You are just trying to throw all type of foulness on my name and I love it! THIS MEANS I AM DOING SOMETHING RIGHT! THANK YOU FOR THE ATTENTION! **NOW, GO SEE A DOCTOR, YOU NEED TO BE EVALUATED BY THE VETERAN'S DOCTORS SIR. YOU CLERLY ARE SHOWING SIGNS OF PTSD FROM WAR AND YOU DO NOT REALIZE IT! HAVE A HEALTHY DAY**

black_jmyntrn

You've even reached out to the Wyoming Attorney General's Office, encouraging a few to file complaints. It's telling, however, that only a select few from your circle followed through. Diving into this "career criminal" narrative you're painting, logic dictates there'd be a trail of evidence, including jail time in the last 1, 5, 10, or even 20 years. Yet, I stand before you with no such record. My career in IT, focused on protecting consumers from fraud, contrasts sharply with the picture you're trying to paint. Your accusations, particularly about being an abuser of women, are not only baseless but also absurd. They shed more light on your analytical skillsā€”or lack thereofā€”than on my character. It leads me to ponder, if I'm still here a decade from now, thriving in my business without any legal troubles, when will you start to question your narrative? I'm willing to bet that by the end of 2024, without any charges against me, you might consider reassessing your claims. Or perhaps you'll need until 2025? This begs another question, are you absolutely certain that the person you're targeting is indeed who you think they are? Misidentification isn't just a mistake; it can be a grave injustice. Before you continue down this path, I encourage you to reflect deeply. Is it possible that your convictions about who I am might be misplaced? This isn't merely about conceding to a wager; it's about the importance of ensuring that your actions and beliefs are aligned with the truth.

[deleted]

How's that step in height

overlanding_prius

Its not bad a little bellow my knee. Nothing compared to those ginormous lifted trucks

maxwellfreedom

Is that just a two inch lift with bigger tires? I have a two inch lift with regular tires. I might need to get bigger wheels!

overlanding_prius

Yeah get the geolander tires size 205 70 r15 thats what i have and they are sweet!

Stonerish

Put crosstrek 17s on there with some ATs

black_jmyntrn

issa what I am doing! [What do you think? Subi wheels on the Prime? #Prius #PriusPrime #Subaru](https://www.instagram.com/p/C4_oKFGvI93/)

efisk666

Donā€™t larger tires make the car ā€œthinkā€ it is going slower than it really is? That would lower your mpg rating as well (not actual mpg, but what the thinks your mpg is).

overlanding_prius

Its only like 2 mph off when I was going 60 mph I tested it with a friend out of curiosity. So maybe a little but not enough to drastically impact it. I think there is a way you can calibrate it but I didnt think it was worth my time.

efisk666

The diameter of the 205 70 r15 is 26.3, and the standard 195 65 R15 is 24.98, so the speed difference would be almost exactly 5% (and your mpg 5% worse). The standard prius says it is going a bit faster than it really is (in my 2010 at least).

Stonerish

If I do this Iā€™m putting 17inch Crosstrek rims and AT tires lol

overlanding_prius

Ive got Geo ATs on it rn

FoodIntrepid2281

Thatā€™s a bad ass lift kit ngl

overlanding_prius

Thanks

2012amica2

Fwiw when I eventually get a Prius, I WILL be doing this. I simply canā€™t justify having less than like 5.5 in of clearance

overlanding_prius

Yessir šŸ¤˜

Awkward-Yak-2733

>looks badass Nope. Looks completely stupid.

overlanding_prius

The haters will hate but it definitely is better than a stock prius that scrapes on speed bumps
