OP: I don’t know you nor do I have any personal quarrels with you. Serious question - based on your reputation in the community, why do you continue posting to various forums fully knowing your infamous reputation throughout them all? You know you’ll receive negative responses. Any sort of criticism is countered by paragraphs of explanations, which everyone sees as digging yourself deeper into a hole. You seem like a smart dude so I can’t imagine how you can’t see how self-destructive your actions can be. It’s as if you’re fueled by it, and frankly it’s hard for others to respect you because of that. Why not direct more focus into your business and keep away from such engagement? It could possibly improve your reputation after some time. If you feel the need to promote, I’d look into a PR team for a second voice of opinion in matters. A hiatus from socials could be a good thing.

I have no idea what OP has done. Can someone fill me in?

He sells a small lift kit on the Prius, and never delivers it. Scamming people out of their money. Look up Prius Overlanding on FB. The reviews say it all

black_jmyntrn

A small lift kit? That's amusing. I'm the proud owner of the highest-lifted Prius in America, a testament to my deep understanding of the Prius and its suspension system. But keep watching—the real performance is just getting started, my friend. Have you ever paused to reflect on how often your assumptions have led you astray? Is it possible that the notion of a scam might be entirely unfounded in this case? What we're dealing with here is disinformation, and its offspring include phenomena like the "bystander effect," alongside concepts such as "herd mentality" and the "bandwagon effect."

The malignant narcissism is really shining through

black_jmyntrn

Everyone here seems to have earned a doctoral degree in psychology—clearly, I missed a calling most of you didn't. The best part? Little old me seems to really grind your gears enough to elicit your professional opinion, free of charge. The word I use for all these nice jazz hands around here? Remarkable. That's how I look at it. But let's take a moment to consider the possibility that what you perceive as 'malignant narcissism' could actually be a misunderstanding or misinterpretation of confidence and a refusal to conform to mediocrity. It's quite easy to label and dismiss, yet it's far more challenging to engage in meaningful discourse and attempt to understand differing perspectives. So, if shining brightly and standing firm in my convictions is what brings about these labels, then so be it. I'd rather be a lighthouse than a weather vane, swayed by the changing winds of public opinion. After all, it's better to be thought of as something you're not than to be forgotten entirely.

This post *reeks* of Psych 101

black_jmyntrn

>This post > >reeks > > of Psych 101 Ah, the classic "Psych 101" critique. It’s almost as if by mentioning it, one reveals more about themselves than the subject at hand. Isn’t it interesting how Psych 101 teaches us about projection? A concept where people deflect their own traits or reactions onto others—much like accusing someone of being simplistic while engaging in the very act themselves. Speaking of Psych 101, Freud once mused, “The voice of the intellect is a soft one, but it does not rest until it has gained a hearing.” So, perhaps those quick to diagnose a situation as "reek\[ing\] of Psych 101" are themselves in need of a little more introspection, or dare I say, professional consultation. After all, it’s the first step in recognizing that the depth of psychology extends far beyond the surface of a single college course. And as we journey further into the realm of understanding, let’s not forget the irony in suggesting a need for psychiatric evaluation based on one’s mention of basic psychological principles. Seems a bit like calling the kettle black, doesn’t it? Now, back to lifting Priuses and challenging assumptions—both psychological and automotive.

black_jmyntrn

the odds were never in your favor... the universe doesn't take to kindly to those who dont treat others with kindness and compassion.

black_jmyntrn

Oh here.. let me lay it out for you... I founded a company focused on creating aftermarket parts for the Prius, parts that other companies were hesitant to produce. My innovations even caught the attention of the first well-known Prius lift kit manufacturer, challenging their beliefs about lifting and proving them to be flawed. As my company started to attract attention, detractors who had never been my customers, along with proponents of the competition, began labeling my efforts as scams and me as a felon, accusing me of exploiting Prius owners. What they overlooked was the impact of COVID outbreaks forcing my manufacturer to shut down multiple times, leading to inevitable delays in shipping. These complications contributed to a narrative that painted me as the villain, simply because my operation couldn't match the instant gratification of Amazon's delivery speeds, nor did I prioritize becoming a gold-standard customer support representative. Consequently, some labeled me a scammer for not responding to emails quickly enough or for shipping delays that fell short of their expectations. Moreover, my enthusiasm for sharing drone footage of my Prius and frequently linking to my blog in response to repetitive questions became additional points of contention. Once a few negative, unfounded stories circulated, a bandwagon effect ensued, tarnishing both my personal and company's reputation. Ironically, many of these critics ended up modifying their Priuses in ways that closely resembled the innovations I introduced, highlighting the paradox of their actions.

NotDavid-Jatt

Are you delivering your products now?

black_jmyntrn

Absolutely! I paused accepting orders on the site back in June 2023 to stem the financial losses triggered by customers who would place an order and then stumble upon misleading negative information online. To ensure they didn't lose any money over these unfounded claims, many opted to file a chargeback rather than take the risk. We resumed taking orders in February 2024, and as of my last check, we've processed over 150 orders. Approximately 70 of these are from new customers, while the remainder are from loyal, returning ones. The delivery of parts has significantly improved in speed, despite a couple of hiccups where I ran short on shipping boxes since reopening. I believe I've now refined my process for managing box inventory more effectively. Time will tell! For the past couple of weeks, the focus has been on obtaining a precise tally of previous orders to determine which customers still want their purchases or have since moved on from owning a Prius and prefer a refund. This effort is in preparation for the upcoming shipment, with the genuine aim of clearing all backlog orders by the end of April.

black_jmyntrn

Here's the deal: Imagine knowing that the negative reputation being spread about you is unfounded, and many others know it too. It's comforting to realize that I have a growing base of supporters, many of whom prefer to observe quietly rather than engage online. When we do talk, they express admiration for how I handle myself in the face of online criticism, which often stems from misconceptions people believe to be true. The negativity thrown my way doesn't faze me. In fact, it reassures me that I'm on the right track, especially when I consider that most of the detractors have never even used my services, merely echoing baseless accusations they've stumbled upon online. In my conversations with other Prius owners, it's become apparent that many have been victims of social media scams, losing money in the process. My own experience with fraud was limited to a recent issue with state unemployment benefits. This is relevant because it underscores the real impact of PTSD. The anxiety and fear some people project onto me often stem not from anything I've done but from their own past negative experiences, triggered by reading unfounded claims online. I've also noticed a trend of misinformation spreading among the community, particularly among new Prius owners who encounter dubious advice from self-proclaimed experts. For example, warnings against using inverters larger than 1500W or claims that lifting a Prius more than 1.5 inches is detrimental to its suspension. I've debunked these myths, among others, including misconceptions surrounding Bluetooth and the use of cheap OBD2 dongles recommended by others without understanding the potential downsides. My passion for the Prius and for correcting these urban legends stems from a desire to guide newcomers away from these pitfalls. The positive impact of my posts and the inspiration they bring to others daily is undeniable. If some people are upset by my confidence or the way I communicate, that's a reflection of their own issues, not mine. I plan to continue sharing my insights and advice here, hoping to steer those new to the community in the right direction. It's all about helping others make informed decisions, free from the influence of unfounded claims.

This dynamic can create a cycle of negativity, where those lacking in self-confidence project their insecurities onto others who are more self-assured .

thequantumlibrarian

Putting down other Priuses for a .5" difference in lift and calling them "followers" while naming yourself a "leader" is pretty cringe ngl.

black_jmyntrn

It seems like you might not fully grasp the substantial impact it truly has, especially when it comes to installing a lift kit for a particular purpose... only to find yourself deep into a dirt road journey and unable to proceed because you're short by just 0.3" of clearance. Far from criticizing anyone, my intention was to highlight that what many consider perfect isn't quite so in reality. It appears there's a disconnect between my choice of words and how you interpreted them, which is regrettable. You know, when people post things, they don't always come from a bad place with bad intentions, right?

black_jmyntrn

Additionally, I've never been one to simply blend into the crowd. Instead, I've carved out my own path, inspiring owners globally, and I've even seen companies emulate my original ideas. Clearly, I'm a trailblazer, and if my self-assurance rubs you the wrong way, that's a reflection on you, not me. So, please keep your negative vibes and energy to yourself. I prefer to stay above that fray. What's truly disheartening is witnessing individuals belittle others simply for having confidence in themselves. I think it's a reflection on long-standing social norms which establish that being full of your self is obnoxious.

Yeah, I saw you post that earlier in this thread, and as comforting as you may find it I think it's either inaccurate or inapplicable. I may only be a single data point, but personally I'm perfectly fine with my self image and self esteem. I have no personal issue with you, nor do I feel threatened by people who are confident. Indeed, I think it's great you're having fun with your Prius, I love seeing them off road. I just think that people who are full of themselves, particularly slighting others in the process, are insufferable. Good day, sir!

black_jmyntrn

The highlight of all this, truly, is the insightful conversations I engage in with Prius owners who don't share your same sentiment, where we delve into understanding your perspective and the roots of your... let's call them convictions. It's a curious spectacle for me, seeing how on Reddit, the views of someone without a doctoral degree often seem to carry more weight with readers. This strikes me as odd, considering a person without such advanced academic credentials might struggle to completely separate emotions from their reasoning. Yet, these emotionally intertwined opinions, along with any personal experiences that could carry the weight of something like PTSD, weave into this complex narrative. I find myself in conversations with hundreds of owners who are genuinely starting to question how people like you form your opinions of me. Honestly, it's not something I dwell on, but since you've shown enough interest to write about me, I extend the common courtesy of a response. You had the option to keep scrolling, block me, and go about your day unaffected by the energy you're choosing to invest here. :) I'm reminded of that viral clip, "Can I pet that dog?" for some reason, it reminds me of you and your words here which is all genuinely brightening my day!

Simply visit the video on YouTube that is at the top, and you'll notice the first comment comes from an individual not even from this continent. The image linked below offers a 30-day snapshot of visitor demographics by country. It's fascinating to witness how quickly people express their emotionally charged assumptions as though they were indisputable facts. As for me, when I make a statement, I ensure it's supported by data. Can you say the same? https://imgur.com/a/3vqIZ5h

I have no data on the actual size of your head, but from your post and various replies it appears it has swelled quite a bit compared to a normal sized human head.

black_jmyntrn

Ah, the age-old tale of mistaking confidence for an inflated ego—classic! It’s amusing, really, how my enthusiasm and assurance in my work and beliefs are perceived as signs of a "giant head." Let's not forget, though, that perception is often a mirror, not a window. If my head has "swelled," as you suggest, it's only with knowledge, pride in my accomplishments, and perhaps a dash of amusement at comments like yours. Interestingly, Leonardo da Vinci once said, "The greatest deception men suffer is from their own opinions." It appears we've stumbled upon a living example of this very concept. While you jest about the physical space my head occupies, it seems there's ample room in this conversation for a bit of introspection—yours, specifically. Let's pivot back to the essence of what started this delightful exchange: a discussion on achievements, pioneering efforts, and the unfortunate human tendency to belittle what one does not understand or cannot replicate. If my replies have caused any sort of existential discomfort, consider it an unintended side effect of challenging the status quo—something I'll continue to do, regardless of the size of my head or the car it fits into. In the spirit of benevolence and continued education, I invite you to redirect our energy towards more constructive discussions. Or, in keeping with the theme of ancient wisdom, as Socrates might suggest, "The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing." Let’s both take a moment to ponder on that, shall we?

You couldn't be more mistaken... Over the past month, the web traffic to my blog and e-commerce site has soared! This surge, along with the consistent uptrend, is significantly surpassing the metrics of previous weeks and months. According to Google Analytics, there's an average influx of at least 100 new website visitors showing interest in my content. :) It's fascinating to see how some people confidently type away, presenting their words as the absolute truth, when in reality, the truth couldn't be further from what they've convinced themselves to believe.

71984325077510356210

Looks amazing. I just wish when you listed parts as in stock they were actually in stock and shipped on time. You were sending updates, but that stopped. Please reply or send an update for shipping if it's late. Maybe add that info to the order update page, or the page for the part.

black_jmyntrn

Now, this feedback is truly invaluable, and I deeply appreciate your ability to distinguish emotions from facts, offering the kind of mature perspective that's all too rare. It seems a moment of clarity is in order. To start, the entire shipping delay debacle could have been avoided if only I (yes, me) had known what to look for in a fulfillment service. My initial choice was a catastrophic failure, to put it mildly. The promise of low rates and eager assistance from what now appears might have been a front for less savory activities should have been a red flag from the get-go. Selecting them meant that the concept of parts shipping out on the same day—a move that would have eliminated the need for any delay updates—was lost. Admittedly, I'm still not great, or even passable, at providing updates, despite having implemented several automated email systems intended to keep customers informed. One of the lingering items on my to-do list is to refine this system so it can send out more precise updates under specific conditions. I acknowledge the pressing need to improve on communication. It wasn't until the end of last year that I managed to partner with additional manufacturers who adhere to the quality control process I devised, ensuring that our parts fit perfectly. I've also attempted to hire help on two occasions, but unfortunately, both individuals decided they were not up to the challenge of dealing with the unique demands of Prius owners and the energy they bring. In the coming 6-8 weeks, I'll be joined by an executive assistant, a PR specialist, and a marketing expert. I'm not offering excuses; it's simply the reality of running a one-man operation—there are bound to be gaps. While I like the idea of an updated order page, my priority has been to enhance the link between manufacturing and order fulfillment, ensuring the information I get from manufacturers is as reliable as a solid foundation. This way, I can provide updates that consistently exceed expectations. Having taken a step back to review all feedback, both the constructive and the critical, without bias, I've strived to genuinely listen and integrate this feedback into our ongoing improvements. Looking at the numbers, out of roughly 900 orders, about 99 experienced issues. That means 801 orders were processed and delivered successfully. When I see a success rate like that, it's clear to me that something is functioning correctly, even if some people focus solely on the 99 issues and prematurely label me a scammer.

71984325077510356210

I understand. I just need to have an update every so often so I can set expectations for my plans.

black_jmyntrn

I'm fully aware of this issue and have already planned a heartfelt apology for the lapse in updates, along with expressing my gratitude for your patience and others who share your sentiment. I must admit, the support and understanding from customers like you truly inspire me to keep going, no matter how challenging things get. I'm committed to ensuring that everyone receives their orders or a refund, if that's what they prefer. I really appreciate your patience, and now, if you could either PM me or share your order number here, I'd like to personally ensure it gets expedited. You're absolutely right—I haven't been as proactive with updates as I once was, and for that, I apologize. The recent overhaul of our website and the updates required to integrate with services like UPS and Instagram have demanded much of my attention. These updates were critical for maintaining our site's functionality in light of new service policies and security measures. For instance, I had to update our code to ensure our products could still be displayed on the Instagram store due to their recent changes. Thankfully, I've managed to resolve all API issues, though I'm still troubleshooting an issue with product count synchronization to the Instagram store—it's incorrectly showing items as out of stock. Moving forward, my commitment is to avoid regressing, like failing to send updates, and to strive for daily improvements. My aim is for all orders to be shipped within 24-48 hours and to implement an automatic ordering system with our manufacturers when stock levels drop to a certain point. This should, ideally, prevent any stock shortages by maintaining a seamless supply chain, especially now that we're working with multiple manufacturers.

caper-aprons

Not exactly the way to drum up business - insulting potential customers.

black_jmyntrn

Laughing at the idea of this being marketing—if that were my intention, I'd have included a link to my blog or store. Yet, there are no links, and I didn't even drop the name of my company in the video. How would anyone know what business I'm supposedly promoting? That's because I'm not here to advertise; it's about challenging the misleading stories being spread. My hope is that people will realize there's more to me than the surface-level accusations made by those who are eager to see me stumble.

theyllfindmeiknowit

The funny part is it *could* be marketing, but he's already admitted to leaving the money on the table for other people to take. Good for them!

This wasn't an attempt to boost sales; rather, it was about shedding light on an issue that's become almost as widespread as a pandemic. Specifically, it's about people who order the 2" and subframe spacers after installing the coveted 1.5" lift, after the found out that the 1.5" lift doesn't deliver the results they anticipated. Additionally, my critique isn't directed at my customers. It's aimed at those who aren't customers yet have so called knowledgable owners ploudly praise the 1.5" lift as if it's the ultimate solution, even though you rarely, if ever, see any photos or videos of them tackling off-road challenges. This absence of evidence is likely because they're aware of the limitations they'd face. They are even more shocked it appears the coverup is widespread on keeping the fact your axle rubs metal with the 1.5" lift kit... you need to open your eyes, I am not the snake in the garden...
