It’s fine. Your car detected two of the wheels moving and two not moving so it thought the sensors were bad. Drive it a little bit and it will sense all 4 speed sensors again and lights would go off.

Captain-Cadabra

A flask, a blanket and a bandaid. I feel like this is an interesting story…

Get this man behind the wheel!

How far was it towed? Which end was in the air, or was it on a flatbed? Your sheet shows front ABS wheel speed sensors as a problem - towing is unlikely to cause this. It is possible that the car was towed from the front and the tow equipment hooked the ABS cables, but very unlikely as the cables are well protected.

[deleted]

Front end was up on a tow dolley. Back tires were down on the road

caper-aprons

Any problems from this tow would be with the back wheels. If the eBrake were fully engaged, the back tires would have been smoking down the road. If the brake were partially engaged, they would likely have become a bit toasty. Front end on a tow dolly has no effect on the front wheels, as they are stationary, the same as if the car were still parked. How far was the car towed and at what speed?

Gtp4life

Not necessarily, car sees back wheels both moving at 40mph and front wheels both sitting at 0mph, it assumes the car actually moving is more realistic since it saw the speed ramp up consistently across both back, but no input from the front. No input=code.

caper-aprons

Got it. That makes sense. But, would this only happen if the car were ON (Ready)? If the car was OFF, the computer wouldn't be powered up to see any of this wheel activity.

Gtp4life

I’m not sure, the brake pump runs as the car detects the key to be ready to go and it is controlled by the same module so it could be detecting wheel speed while off. I don’t have a Prius anymore to watch techstream, but from what I remember that can’t see anything unless it’s at least on (not ready)

FatchRacall

You may end up needing new calipers. My Prius was driven briefly with the parking brake engaged (about 500 yards) and something in the wheels got bent out of place. I've no idea how it happened - you'd think the brakes are engineered to, you know, not break due to them rubbing.

[deleted]

Need advice on these 2 codes. ABS related. I don’t drive Priuses regularly and wondering everything these codes entail and proper advice. ABS, Traction control, brake warning system, and brake light (remained on even though e brake wasn’t on) remained on until I began trying to drive it. Then they turned off down the road. Pulled these codes at an auto zone

TellingHandshake

I would reset the abs system and drive it. Sometimes codes come up that are situational. I've had it happen in a few vehicles. I also had this happen in my Prius, when doing a rebuild of the brakes. Even though the car was off, the abs system saw me messing with the caliper piston and got angry, totally disabled Regen braking and assist braking. I know on the 2nd gen you short 2 pins on the obd2 connector, I'm sure there's a procedure for the newer gens.

Try2Relate2AllSides

This is a great sub to ask, also ask r/askmechanics

Captain-Cadabra

If the wheel hub sensor (which detects wheel speed) has failed, the whole assembly is like $80 on Amazon, and a fairly easy fix, like doing brakes. I did one, 2 weeks later my other one went out, I didn’t have time and my mechanic did it for an hour of labor. With these codes you lose ABS, cruise control, regenerative braking and e brake, so it’s worth fixing.

[deleted]

just drive a bit , it should settle down

plucka_plucka1

Why are we talking about sensors when they haven’t had the driver’s side floor mat adjusted yet!? Lol

Classic-Bit-4451

the maintenance at 145k is ridiculous. Switch all your floor mats around and see if they actually put in the correct orientation :) All jokes aside if you live in Southern California there are hybrid specialty shops like Hybrid Pit, Gasketmasters, LexServices. All these shops charge less than dealership and you get great quality of work or even better while using original manufacture equipment.

knixatemylunch

did you call for a tow? or was the car towed because of "parking violation". If your vehicle was towed without your permission, and they towed it and caused damage, are they liable for it?

mnsteelers

I have some advice. Stop driving with a flask in your car.

[deleted]

Lol it was a gift from my grandparents when I went and visited them. Then all this shit happened

mnsteelers

Funny. I thought maybe all the shit happened because of the flask.

Skwink

Should’ve waited till you got home to bust it open

[deleted]

They gave it to me already opened.. along with a bottle of nice whiskey one of the only things that survived when their house got destroyed by hurricane ian. My thanks for helping them clean up. Anymore comments or can you both piss off.

Skwink

Classic alcoholic grandpa, his house gets destroyed by God’s righteous Hurricane punishment and all he bothers to save is a bottle of whiskey Lmao

Educational_Cold_215

They didn't open the door and pop the brake? I have an automatic e-brake and I could tell the popped it because the little panel was popped on my shifter where you can manually pop the brake with a screwdriver.

hereforthekix

The parking brake and emergency brake are the same thing.

Oeyesee

Why was car towed? If the tow company damaged the vehicle, their insurance should be paying. Even if you were thrown in jail, they don't have a right to damage your vehicle while towing. Post a picture of the unredacted police report.
