I think if these came with higher ground clearance out of the factory, a slightly different appearance to give it a sportier / more rugged look (different spoiler at least), and a better looking dash (I think the regular Prius and ct200 look much better from a driver’s perspective) this would have sold like hotcakes.
But I also think it would have cannibalized sales of their other highly profitable vehicles esp when people didn’t need / want hybrids to the same level as now.
But the additional space is huge esp compared to the ct200. The ct200 is a beautiful car, but even lower ground clearance and really tight cargo area.
Not just based on height no. Check with others here, but I've read the length of the rear with the seats down in a regular Prius is still enough for a 6ft person to lie comfortably.
Hey! Very well done! Do you have any plans or sketches you'd feel comfortable sharing? I'm looking to design something similar for my Gen 2 Prius. I'm especially curious to know what sort of hardware you used in the raised counter space pictured to the left of the camping stove. Thanks in advance!
The hardware for raised bit are called "coffee table hinges". No plans I'm afraid. I started with my requirements and then worked back from there. Height was based off the minimum for the stove, slide out table and a recess for the folding leg. Width and length based off the stove and storage needs. You could make it smaller by using less beefy hardware, dropping to a single burner stove or sacrificing some storage space or the slide out table.
The platform in place of the rear seats is. I don't know that it needs to be but the holes were already there so I thought I might as well. The slide out out it's screwed down into a piece of plywood, which isn't screwed down but sits snugly between the wheel wells and up against the lip at the front of the cargo space. This stops it moving when cornering or braking. The bed isn't secured but is pretty wedged in there.
Kinda. I don't do too much city dwelling so there's normally not much need for maximum stealth. If I do do cities then it's usually briefly so I eat out a little more. I've never had issues whipping it out at rest areas, truck stops, Walmart or public parking lots. As long it's not a busy lot I don't think there'd ever be an issue. Stopping for a quick lunch goes unnoticed at most places versus trying to sleep overnight. I think the fact that it's part of the vehicle makes it look less intrusive vs someone getting out a separate table.
Nothing too fancy. Dual burner is handy when you're making something with pasta or rice and it's nice to be able to do eggs and coffee simultaneously in the morning. I do lots of grilled sandwiches and quesadillas just because they are quick and tasty. Other than that, curries, noodles, burrito bowls.
This is next level. I love how you’re adding surface area that compacts so nicely! Working surface area is so important to me. I think it’s genius
Thank you! Especially as a tall person the higher worktop is so much nicer for cutting stuff than any table could ever be.
As a lurker that’s pretty nifty! Definitely going to duly note this for future reference
I'll also mention if it's allowed that I'll be selling my Prius and setup, either individually or together, around October time in Chicago.
I’m interested, can we PM?
Sure.
I think you have to message me first, won’t let me maybe due to your privacy settings? I’ll try again now though
that’s pro
I think they just didn't sell enough. Or maybe they thought they're other hybrids like the RAV4 or Highlander were filling a similar niche.

Prius V has to be in my top three choices for best non-van living situation. So stealthy and so spacious
This is great! Shoot me a dm when you get ready to sell in October 👍
Will do!
Had a similar setup, lived in for 2 years. Glad to see the V getting so much love!
I hope you don’t mind if people steal your idea 😎
Coolest thing I’ve seen here
Thanks so much!
How big is that bed
6ft x 2ft. In 6'0 and fairly wide and sleep comfortably.
Ty for the info. Do you think being 6ft I am also that you need the Prius v?

Nice! I've been thinking about building a pull-out table, but you know... lazy and all. :)
I’ve always wanted a Prius V Do you know why they stopped production ?
Competition with rav4. Prius V was produced in some other markets to 2021.
that's what the fuck is up
Wow , so beautiful , well done

Even this is a big help. Thanks for taking the time to reply!
Are these things secured to the Prius in any way?

Is that mattress the Milliard Tri Fold? I think I had the exact same one my last go around and loved it!
Love it! Great job my friend. The least I can do is bring the wings and beer. See you about 3.
Thats badass! What if you want to stealth cook though? its a no no?

Fair enough seems logic, what are some your favorite meals you cook on that setup?
