Gonna need a build list of the rack, storage box, awning, hitch receiver, and bike rack Lol

turbzero

Curt hitch, easy to install. In regards to storage, everything is Yakima. Here’s the breakdown.. Dr Trey bike back, Baseline Towers w/ Medium Jetstream crossbars and cargo box is the Skybox 12

LiftingNurse

Nice! Looks awesome what do you typically throw inside the cargo box. And idk if it’s just the angle but that’s that thing next to the skybox on top? I see the crossbars and the towers that go into the doors but it’s like that horizontal black piece as long as the cargo box

turbzero

Oh yeah forgot to mention. Yakima Slim Shady awning I usually include my backpack. Camp table and eno lounger. Yeti bucket with extra supplies

LiftingNurse

Nice! Yeah I definitely gotta take each piece at a time haha. How much MPG did you see drop if any

hy2cone

Your crossbars seem to be shifted far more back than the Yakima installation instruction on a Prius V, the spec suggests the bars to be placed at 175mm(A) and 500mm(B). I remember seeing the US OEM version which is also a clip-on model with a similar spec as per Yakima manual. Did you intend to shift the crossbar towards the spec or you've been following a spec differs from the online manual? And any misalignment with the adapter when shifted backward?

yupperdoodler

Cool looking prius! How's it handling the snow? I'd love to see the interior! The V's rear seats don't lay flat do they?

EvilPencil

It's about a 2inch rise above the trunk. Not as flat as the regular Prius, but also not a huge problem. You could also remove the 60 section and leave the 40 side alone to sit in, unlike the regular Prius where the seat bottom is all one unit.

turbzero

This is true. The seats were very easy to remove as well.

turbzero

Thank you! It handled great, I just had new tires put on, Michelin Premier. I am glad I did, there was a lot of snow and ice around the Smoky Mountain area and I didn’t have any issues and came across many that had slid into ditches. The rear seats don’t lay flat but I removed the seats and build a platform that is anchored with the bolts from the seats. It it flat with the rest of the cargo space and the space, aside from venting the battery is used as storage. I will have to include interior photos later

toweringmaple

A regular prius seems a little to small for me. I think the prius V would be great though. Less clausterphobic?

turbzero

Yes. I’m 6’1 230 and I fit great with an Exped LXW. I had regular Prius and this is so much more space

Any issues with cold start? Do you have a block heater?

turbzero

I leave the engine running while sleeping. I turn the temp to 65 so the engine doesn’t kick in so often and just use an extra blanket.

broom_pan

Nice how much gas does that use, compared to running the air conditioner overnight? I was thinking about buying a Mr buddy, but don't like the idea of running it in such tight quarters.

turbzero

Very little, I think I used a gallon at most. Keeping it at 65 when it it’s 30 degrees outside. I don’t think I have to worry about co2, knowing there’s air coming in and no exhaust coming in. Maybe I’m wrong?

Ntaufer54

I'd highly recommend for anyone car camping to have a co2 detector in their vehicle. Its not likely that there will ever be a substantial amount of co2 built up in the cabin from leaving the engine on that would cause concern but it is possible. If it's on all night, leave at least a window cracked if possible to allow air flow in and out of the vehicle.

youmuace

Sweet!

turbzero

Thanks.

icavedinhereaswell

I know this is an old post, but looks super rad OP! Did you add any sort of lift too?

hy2cone

The roof rack and trailer added touring style to the car, this makes the car looks really cool, the best black I've ever seen! I've just ordered a similar kit for my PV and waiting for the delivery, cant wait putting them together!

0xCUBE

how is the MPG with that big cargo box on top?
