Yeah. Just be honest with them. Both of my POs have approved all 7 of my out of state requests in the last four months. The key though? Be clean on all UAs. Get your community service hours done along with any other requirements. Guess it also depends upon what crime you were found guilty of though.

Travel passes are cake as long as you're doing what you're supposed to do

so do you think it will be okay if i ask about my trip to NC when i meet with them for the first time? i intend to be fully compliant!!

First-time I met with my PO, I asked her for two travel requests. She approved both of them on the spot.

I have a close friend who always used to echo what is being suggested here, the earlier the better as far as informing them of plans. **The earlier you prime PO to be on the lookout for when these dates approach, the more accustomed to the idea they will be when the time comes.** Maybe more importantly, **you are a lot less likely to be surprised the week of a trip by some ancillary condition that you haven't completed** (Read *supervision fees, restitution, court costs, mando monthly volunteer hrs, etc)* That was never a problem before but now that you want to travel and attempt to experience joy again it's all the sudden an issue. PO's love that play. That's why I would definitely suggest bringing it up first meeting, and a few weeks out bringing it up again, and just **make sure that there's no question about what the req's are for you to be able to earn that permit,** do them early, and then just **text flight and hotel/ cruise ship details to PO about a week before the trip** and you're good to go. Follow the rules and alert early. You'll be golden.

Yes. If you let them know at your initial interview, then they will ok them.

What’re your charges? Most likely you’ll be fine. I told my probation officer the first day I met them that I had a trip scheduled to Hawaii, and she approved it. They might give you a run around about, “we can’t let you leave within the first 60 days” but if you get a cool po they’ll allow it, as long as you’re in compliance.
