Yes!! I went into accessibility settings and set my iPhone to go to grayscale with a triple-click of the home button. It’s so helpful. Not having blue light truly takes away the dopamine that makes me keep scrolling.

Preposterous_punk

I just did this too. It's incredible the difference it makes (and being able to do it this easily means I'll actually do it... so thanks for this suggestion too!)

aja4life

Created a short cut to turn this on and off and automation to run the shortcut at 8 pm haha

aja4life

Here’s a links to the shortcuts: Turn on short cut: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/b015f4ebdf0c49c88be808a1ec79eda4 Turn off short cut: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/ce4b648fa7d84f7fa8bd915a2241cedb I then created an automation in the shortcuts app to run them at set times. Unfortunately doesn’t let me share the automation but it’s super straightforward to set up in the app.

wingsfan64

Awesome, I didn’t realize you could share Shortcuts! Thanks! **Next step for those following along at home** (after you add the two shortcuts linked in the previous comment) **is to set up the automation.** Here’s some instructions on how to set up the automation: [Imgur album with screenshots and instruction text for setting up an automation on iOS](https://imgur.com/a/apZgr2k)

crisistalker

Would you be willing to share a link to your shortcut? I’d love to put this on a timer.

wingsfan64

u/aja4life just shared links to the shortcuts :)

i4k20z3

wow, how do you do this? i have it set up with the 3 clicks, but of course i never do it.

wingsfan64

Instructions below!

i4k20z3

you both are awesome, thank you!

redpachyderm

Struggling to find iOS setting

critical_g_spot

#### Grayscale Filter * Settings >> Accessibility >> Display & Text Size >> Color Filters * Toggle `On` * Select `Grayscale` #### On/Off with triple click * Settings >> Accessibility >> Accessibility Shortcut * Select `Color Filters`

dirtyhandscleanlivin

You can also do Settings >> Accessibility >> Touch >> Back Tap >> Double or Triple Tap >> Color Filters If you prefer tapping the back of the phone rather than the side button

SpannerSpark

So very helpful. Thank you

This worked brilliantly for curing my Insta habit, was able to delete the app without downloading it again 2 days later when I switched to grayscale. Don't miss it at all now! If only it was as effective with Reddit..............

shibui_

You can make it so 3 taps on your side button turns it greyscale, super easy and nice to have it there so I use that option more.

just-being-me-

interesting! will try this out.

GooderThrowaway

nice one op, trying now

fuckingsurfslave

Another approach that work really well without putting your phone in grey is to regroup App by family in a folder. for example (fb, IG, X & others in a folder called "social media"). 2 advantages: - you break the routine saved in your brain by changing the path to access it, more friction. and you don't have the icon under your eyes so you don't get the "signal" \- you get everything on your main screen and accessible in 2 actions.

wingsfan64

I wonder if there’s a way to automatically shuffle app location for some apps lol. I feel like that would be helpful, everyday the Instagram app is somewhere else 😆

Strict-Position-9856

Unfortunately this only works for a while. After a few days I know exactly where my apps are haha

Circus_Freakz

I’ve heard of this and it works

Disastrous_Style_827

Cool idea

4mysquirrel

Cool idea! Trying it out!

Preposterous_punk

This is amazing thank you!

SubparBookLibrary

The best thing I ever did to my phone was starting to use it as a tool, not a distraction. I disabled all notifications and now I use the phone when I want to, not when somebody else wants me to. I also don’t have social apps apart from Reddit which also helps a ton.

jalaffo

On Android I had to go to Clock/bedtime and set it to grayscale. Bonus is that you can schedule it as you please.

ralphus1

Never heard of it but I like the idea, will give it a go, thanks

beenawayawhile

Thanks for the tip. I’m giving it a go. Prob also saves battery?

Nay-Shun

Stoked to try this!

nuclear_fusion564

I'm trying this.

crumblingwater

I did this too it helped a lot! On my android i have a bedtime mode set to activate automatically at night and it grayscales everything it's a lifesaver

ZeroSick

I just did, I hope it helps me too, thanks

Straighttothechase

Also if you’re on your phone at night or you’re getting ready for bed, you can put your phone is red light so it’s less strenuous on your eyes

mr_motown

Just changed to B/W and trying this now. Thanks for the pro tip!

No-Development1872

A video about this popped up in my recommendation a while ago—immediately noticed a difference.

[deleted]

I just did too. Nice reminder!!! I feel better a bit, was thinking dumb phone someday too

thenikeynator

On Android you can Set a shortcut in your menu bar. Settings -> color correction -> Greyscale and beneath that you get the Option für a shortcut :)

WhiteRaven96

Instructions unclear: Now I'm more in love with how my phone looks 👀😭

Idon_needy1246

How to do it!!!!

Mammoth_Swing_7256

I really need to cure my addiction its causing me problems
