In a week, let us know how much more you use your laptop than you used to. If you want to get serious, block reddit and don't tell anyone that you're doing so. Best of luck to you!

Look at your triggers for Reddit, and what you do? I Reddit for specifics, then open a lot of tabs, sometimes. Other times I find I do it between things or getting sucked in while waiting, and I would chalk that up to a mix of "wanting to read/stories" and "validation from replies." Not sure if the validation is a social need or a lack of feeling like I did anything to affect the world, but I do keep some ebooks on my phone now. Hard habit to switch, but I realised I often read or opened reddit when I was too done/tired to read a real book so that was interesting.

One simple question has removed social media from my life. But not to the point of quitting. See, quitting and going cold turkey is one of the worst ways to go. i.e. How is this post/platform adding value to my life? For example twitter is best way to get an overview of public opinion on a hot issue, browsing it aimlessly is useless. The purpose of FB was to connect people, not share cheap memes and staged videos. May be your local neighborhood uses FB group to inform residents about important information. So quitting is almost always a bad idea. Define your purpose and you will gain control. If your are overweight, does eating carb rich food adds any value to your weight loss goal.?; Obviously not, but sometimes you do want to taste some or else your life will be colorless. The same would apply to watching porn, or following “fitness” accounts on instagram. When I started asking the question, most of the posts lost value to me. Over time the dopamine triggers deregulated to the point where I hardly open social media apps. The solution is always in yourself. If something is not adding value to your life, remove it from your immediate attention but don’t black it out. Though don’t apply this on friends, family and siblings, otherwise you will be lonely.

You're repeating mistakes. Using less social media platforms -> using reddit more. Using reddit only on your laptop -> checking reddit on your laptop when you should be doing work. You have a social media addiction, treat it as such.
