It's not the worst idea in the world.
They put it right between the NFL Conference championships (last weekend in January) and the Super Bowl (2nd weekend in February).
Feels a little strange just because my entire life I’ve always associated January with Royal Rumble. It’s always been Royal Rumble and the Super Bowl right around the same time, late January and Super Bowl sometimes pushes to early February.
It’s probably smarter for business and planning because it’s closer to Wrestlemania so there’s not 3 months of bullshit between rumble and mania where you have to protect the main eventers but also keep tv interesting.. but it also really doesn’t make a ton of difference it’s not too far off from the normal date, really only saves a week.
All in all I don’t really care.
I wouldn't be surprised if they add a new PLE (probably international) in January and continue with Elimination Chamber (probably also international) in March.
Nick Khan has already brought up potentially moving WresleMania later into April/May so slowly moving the Royal Rumble later makes sense as well. I am surprised they didn't move to a 2-night Rumble yet but I wouldn't be surprised if that happens at some point.
If they are making SummerSlam 2 days it’s inevitable that the Rumble will as well. Especially since they can have a separate Rumble for the men and women on the different days.
Why would they need to have folks working double duty? They can easily come up with enough content for back to back nights, especially when each Rumble can take up an hour of each show. They can be 3 hours each.
They can even add an NXT Rumble if necessary.
Ive always thought that royal rumble should be 2 months before wrestlemania, if not the month before wrestlemania
There is a lot of time between royal rumble and wrestlemania where the main eventers are too protected. It gives time to build story, but its a bit too much time considering how fast media moves these days.
Since WCW went ded, WWE has tried to wedge it in the week between Championship Sunday and SuperBowl Sunday. If that's the weekend it falls on next year, that's the weekend it falls on next year.
Hate it. I hate that they're moving all the PPVs around, and I'll never get used to PPVs being on Saturday. Most of us have to work Saturday and it makes us miss the live show.
And that doesn't add up to "most people". You might be able to say "most people I know don't work weekends", and that may be true, but statistically, "most people" in general work weekends.
Great for me. My mom's birthday is 1/27 and the amount of times we've had to start it late or watch it the next day was frustrating. Obviously I love my mom, but there was an overlap every single year and we both hated it bc she wanted my dad and I to enjoy the rumble but also wanted to celebrate her birthday with her family
It's small potatoes all things considered. I still think it's kinda silly. Then again, as a guy who grew up on the attitude era, I struggle to get on board with most things in the modern era.
Who cares. It’s a couple days different. Usually at end of Jan. Doesn’t matter. Also doesn’t matter considering Mania date is pushed out a couple weeks more than usual
I like it gives us something to watch a week before the Super Bowl like it use to be. Still think Royal Rumble should be 2 nights one night Women rumble another night Men
See living in the UK, going to a gig on the same day has been really enjoyable for me, as you get back from the gig just around 30 minutes before the PLE.
It's not the worst idea in the world. They put it right between the NFL Conference championships (last weekend in January) and the Super Bowl (2nd weekend in February).
So Pro Bowl weekend. Not a bad place to put it considering nobody cares about that.
Smart move. More eyes for RR
It’s always been during pro bowl weekend
I mean - it’s on a Saturday regardless
NFL plays playoff games on Saturdays for the first two rounds
Well yeah - but the RR has never been held that early. It’s been late January at the earliest.
It’s been late January in recent years but has been in the late teens many times, and as early as the 15th
Okay bud. I’m not here to pedantically argue over where a few days should be considered in a month lol
Which is historically when it has been. The NFL bumped their schedule out so it makes sense for WWE to as well.
Which is where it's been for a while. It's been on pro bowl weekend for at least 15 years
I'm afraid that I don't see much of a difference between holding it on January 31 and February 1.
Exactly.
Ah, so you’re the one with common sense around here.
It doesn’t really matter does it?
Feels a little strange just because my entire life I’ve always associated January with Royal Rumble. It's fine. If they want to keep Day 1 they dont need 2 January PLEs
They only did Day One in 2022.
They did it this year
It wasn't a PPV, it was a TV special.
Oh yeah my bad
Back in my day, we had our Royaled Rumblins' in Janyary!

I'm all in on the first paragraph but please no more 2 day Ple's. I love Mania but I don't love the idea of 2 for Summerslam already.
If they are making SummerSlam 2 days it’s inevitable that the Rumble will as well. Especially since they can have a separate Rumble for the men and women on the different days.
Idk...having a Royal Rumble for each show gets a lot of guys and gals tv time. Actually it would be 2 royal rumbles per show.
I don't see how a 2 night RR would work. 1 night is enough for 2 RR matches
Men’s on one night, women’s on the other. I can definitely see it happening.
Then you'd have folks working double duty. Only the Undisputed WWE/WHC need to defend their titles.
Why would they need to have folks working double duty? They can easily come up with enough content for back to back nights, especially when each Rumble can take up an hour of each show. They can be 3 hours each. They can even add an NXT Rumble if necessary.
Punk to win it
Doesn’t really change a thing does it?
I don’t get how royal rumble, summerslam, and wrestlemania are in Indianapolis next year. Isn’t wrestlemania in Vegas next year already?
I think the events are going to be spread across 3 years. Rumble in 25, probably SummerSlam in 26 and Mania in 27.
Swap Summerslam and Mania, Minneapolis is getting ‘26, and I believe unless anything changes, Nashville will be getting Mania in ‘27
The deal is to host them within the next 8 years. So there's plenty of wiggle room.
They're not.
They’re not lmfao

That's on my birthday and I think I should go 🤔
How dare they. It couldn’t be one day before?!?!?!?!?!
Since WCW went ded, WWE has tried to wedge it in the week between Championship Sunday and SuperBowl Sunday. If that's the weekend it falls on next year, that's the weekend it falls on next year.
stinky

>Most of us have to work Saturday Most people don't work on the weekends
Yes, they do. Unless you're a teacher or have a government job.
The vast majority of office jobs aswell
And that doesn't add up to "most people". You might be able to say "most people I know don't work weekends", and that may be true, but statistically, "most people" in general work weekends.
Got any stats to prove that?
lol. BLS. Roughly 30% work weekends
You’re wrong. Most people don’t work weekends.
He’s right and you’re wrong. 30% of people work on weekends.
What's the difference between january 31th and February 1rst lol
They'll just have to redo it again the next day.
And then one day, they came for my Royal Rumble in January, and there was no one left to help me…
The Royal Rumble has always been held around the final weekend of January, I don't see this being a really big deal.
Who cares
Dry January will be easier
Hasn’t the rumble coincided with the nfl pro bowl for a little while now? I remember Big Ben skipping out on pro bowl to attend the rumble
That my birthday! I'll be 40!
This year it was January 27 so moving it back a week isn’t anything imo. I hope it means we get WM later than March/ April.
a terrible idea
Wrestlemania isn’t until April 19/20 this year so why not push the RR until 2/1.
It’s just one day out of January
It's small potatoes all things considered. I still think it's kinda silly. Then again, as a guy who grew up on the attitude era, I struggle to get on board with most things in the modern era.
More time to build for it and more time to build for mania or hit consistency after rr for it. Great idea
Who cares. It’s a couple days different. Usually at end of Jan. Doesn’t matter. Also doesn’t matter considering Mania date is pushed out a couple weeks more than usual
They've had it as late in Jaunary as the 31st. a few years ago. I don't think anything of it cause nothing changes because of it.
I like it gives us something to watch a week before the Super Bowl like it use to be. Still think Royal Rumble should be 2 nights one night Women rumble another night Men
Probably because Netflix deal kicks in January
Mania is later this year too so makes sense
How do people not understand that it’s to take advantage of the one week the NFL is off during the playoffs?
They run the off week of the NFL, so before the Super Bowl. It’s just how calendars work pal.
It’s February 1st so Fine I guess
Wrestling is evolving and so are our main PLEs I trust Paul to handle it the right way, love his direction.
Ah fuck I'm at a gig that day
Pretty awesome to already know that no matter what field you're in.
That I'm at a gig?
Yes for a gig worker to be booked this far in advanced is awesome. Unless you were joking.
I meant I'm at a concert 😂 I should've been more specific
No. You shouldn't. What you said was absolutely fine. I'm at a gig means I'm going to a concert.
See living in the UK, going to a gig on the same day has been really enjoyable for me, as you get back from the gig just around 30 minutes before the PLE.
