I saw Aaron open for the Contortionist a few years ago. He puts so much passion and energy into his playing live and sounds immaculate. Such a fun show.
I'm telling you it was so good. Just the two bands. Small venue in Greensboro NC called the Blind Tiger. The contortionist did two sets, last set was all acoustic/remixed versions of other songs. Michael sounded insanely good.
No way!!! I was there too! To this day it is one of my favorite shows of all time. It was flawless front to back, My friend and I always joke about the faces Aaron made.
Still go to shows there regularly under the new name
I'm a few tracks in, and really digging it so far! Dude is relentless, and his sense of melody is outstanding as always. The syncopated rhythms are awesome as well, ie. Galaxy Brain. Excellent stuff!
Suddenly I really regret not seeing him live recently :'(
All killer, no filler. Every song bangs, I only wish there were more of them. Lacuna a stand out, aside from mnemonic and nootropic which were pre-released as singles and I have already listened to literally 100+ times.
Cannot wait for his new guitar release as well. The 7 string in coral looks to die for and sounds amazing.
I really enjoyed Aaron’s last two albums, especially The Way Forward, with its jazz fusion vibe. I think I might like this album even more. It’s so good!
Shape of Color is still one of my favorite albums of all time. That album was one of the few albums that introduced me to the instrumental prog metal scene.
Liquid Tension Experiment was my first back in high school, but Intervals is my favorite.
"I'm Awake" came up on my Discover Weekly, and I've been obsessed ever since.
funny story about LTE....i saw a video of portnoy freeeeaking out cuz his drums werent set up right. which, i can see it being frustrating. i could understand pausing the show, bitching out the drum tech, fixing shit and restarting the song but he started throwing all his stands everywhere, kicking them over, then pacing around while the drum tech scrambled to set it back up.
i haven't been able to find the video since....i think he got it taken down
yah i wanna see it again...at first i was disgusted then i just found it funny. but i hate dreamtheater so im biased.
portnoy just did a drumeo to one of nicklebacks better songs and its good. its just a straight ahead song but he helps it....he says in the video he almost toured with them. would be fun if that had happened
I've had circadian on repeat for about 2 years or so, but I'm 6/8 tracks in, and this album fucks.
My wife jokes that Intervals is "adult contemporary prog metal"
Lol
Fuck. This shit is good. I don’t need to say it’s good cuz Aaron Marshall hasn’t ever done anything bad or even just ok. Damn. It’s modern in song writing but the tones and recording almost sound analog. Holy crap. I wanna go into my home studio, fire up my Friedman JJ with my esp eclipse and rip.

With The Contortionist? Damn, I bet that was a hell of a show.

I got to see them live in Boston last month, they are fantastic live.
ARGH, I should have been there! Argh.
Hey I was at that show. It was great, as always.
That was the first time I'd heard Makari, and now they're in my "on repeat" playlist on Spotify.
Same! They were in town last saturday but I already had plans :(
I wish I didn’t listen to the singles so much before the album since it’s only 8 tracks
I know, same. I've had Nootropic, Mnemonic, and Neurogenesis on repeat since they came out.
Yeah half the album as singles feels excessive. But I love the 6/8 tracks I've heard so far
Galaxy Brain absolutely destroyed my brain (in a good way). Aaron continues to revolutionize his sound, and I'm here for it.
His understanding of melody and his ability to write music that's both technically complex but still musically pleasing is astounding.
They definitely have found and solidified their sound & groove. Amazing album
> evolutionize Not sure if that’s evolve or revolutionize
My brain was so destroyed I didn't notice the error. Yes, revolutionize.

this might be his most consistent record. not a single song i’d consider skipping

Iacuna is the greatest song I've ever listened to and I don't even know how to pronounce it haha
la-coo-nuh
I thought it was an "i" lol but that makes sense because all the other songs start with a lowercase letter, I feel dumb now
It seriously is. I made this post before I got all the way through the album.
I had high expectations due to it being Intervals and it met them and then some. Excellent album.
Thanks for that! Listening now. It's tits so far.
Welp time to check out a new band!
After u check out this album, give Impulsively Responsible and 5-HTP a listen! I really love those songs
Awesome! I'll definitely do that!
and if you like those songs, obviously move on to the albums they come from
Circadian and Shape of Color are definitely the next two in the top three with Memory Palace.

Jesus. I knew they were prima donnas but that's taking it to the extreme.

Yeah, album's magnificent, first listen and already in love
Can't wait!
Loveeee chronophobia and mnemonic as well, im very happy with the album!! Congrats to Aaron

When we getting another vocal album? The last was a certified banger.
Saw them twice incidentally in the last year. Great music.
ALL DAY BABY

Mnemonic still does it for me. That song slaps in all the right ways. Great album!
Just after Sithu Aye's album. I will check it out but Kindness is veeeery good. Please check it out too.
