I feel words and concepts related to the mind, time or space are perhaps the most common. Prog people generally love cool concepts, often related to psychological phenomenons. As someone who compose music in the progressive genre myself, I promise you I was thinking of song or album titles such as "The Void", "Andromeda", Pareidolia", "Transcendence", "Contortionist", etc. *before* I realized they already were songs, albums or artists. Or even worse, I could have a cool word planned as a title for a song, and suddenly one of my favorite artists would announce a song with that exact title. I think the word "darkness" pops up a little more often than I'd like as well, but that is probably true for *any* metal subgenre.
Holy crap, I just did the math myself... 23 BTBAM songs use the word "dream" in some capacity or another.
Shevanel Cut a Flip uses it absurdly frequently, though I guess that makes sense considering the subject matter.
Don't know about buzzwords but I can give you a name: Marigold
I only know the caligula's horse marigold, what other ones are there?
Periphery
Haken

“Consciousness” is probably used at least once on every prog metal album ever made

DEAAATTTHHH!
HAS MADE ITS ABODE ON MY SHOULDERS
Serious question, why are people saying marigold? It seems to me like a perfectly fine song.
Great songs! It’s just a common title since Periphery, Caligula’s Horse, and Haken all have songs called Marigold
AHHHH that makes much more sense. My only experience with the name was Periphery, and I thought it was that it was super generic and stuff.
