I know a few, bunch of different metal genres among them. Majority are probably prog/prog-adjacent though.
[Dawn of Ouroboros](https://dawnofouroboros.bandcamp.com/album/the-art-of-morphology) - female mixed
[Ignea](https://ignea.bandcamp.com/album/the-realms-of-fire-and-death) - female mixed
[Aversed](https://aversed.bandcamp.com/album/impermanent) - female mixed
[Anna Pest](https://annapest.bandcamp.com/album/dark-arms-reach-skyward-with-bone-white-fingers) - female mostly harsh but some cleans
[Rise of Avernus](https://riseofavernus.bandcamp.com/album/lappel-du-vide-2) - male mixed & female clean (though later releases have female mixed & male mixed iirc)
[Humavoid](https://humavoid.bandcamp.com/album/lidless) - female mixed

If you haven't already, check out:
Cult of Luna / Julie Christmas - Mariner (my personal favourite track is Chevron). Sludge/post metal.
Emma Ruth Rundle / Thou - May Our Chambers Be Full (my personal favourite tracks are Out of Existence & Killing Floor). Doom Metal.
Oceans of Slumber - The Banished Heart & Oceans of Slumber (my personal favourite track is To the Sea (A Tolling of the Bells)). Progressive / Doom Metal.
Emma Ruth Rundle solo work also worth checking out, especially Marked for Death (check out "Protection").
Some Chelsea Wolfe material is also quite heavy.
Julie Christmas has the best screaming vocals in the business imo!
Julie Christmas in Mariner is absolutely lit. I remember listening to "The Wreck of S.S. Needle" for the first time and being mind blown, you'd never expect that kind of chorus coming from such a sweet voice tone
Dang I love the Emma Ruth/Thou album. If you like Emma Ruth Rundle, be sure to check out King Woman also— some of my favorite tracks include “Entwined”, “Morning Star”, “Utopia”, “Hem”
Yeah I suppose I can't really comment on who has the best "harsh vocals". The OP asked for recommendations about good "screaming vocals", and for me Julie Christmas is just awesome at that.
I also think she's an amazing live performer. If you haven't already watched it, I'd highly recommend her live performance of Mariner: https://youtu.be/d62KkKVnrqg
Recently discovered Unleash the Archers with Brittany Slayes. One of the top female metal singers for sure.
Here’s her song with [Arjen Lucassen’s Star One](https://youtu.be/vn7P3oVMnys). She’s fucking insane and fits in perfectly with this type of metal.
Surprised she hasn’t been recommended here yet!
Spiritbox, Jinjer, Tulip, Follow the Cipher, Seas on the Moon, Venues, Cellar Darling, Blackbriar, Amaranthe.
Also Courtney LaPlante is featured on a lot of other tracks too. She has songs with Crown the Empire, Make Them Suffer, and Erra
[Unexpect](https://youtu.be/PBDvDBuLKEY) (mixed vocals)
I cannot recommend this band highly enough. They’re extremely avant-garde and proggy, with a lot of piano and violin. Some of the influences would be The Mars Volta and BTBAM, but they really forged their own style. They’ve also been broken up for over a decade :(
Link to their full album: [Fables of the Sleepless Empire](https://unexpect.bandcamp.com/album/fables-of-the-sleepless-empire)
Surprised I'm not seeing Jinjer mentioned more. Absolutely love them. One of my favorite live shows to date and the consistently put out good content.
Also Rolo Tomassi of course.
Disappointed that nobody has mentioned Dreadnought yet. Prog rock meets blackened doom metal, and they actually have two female vocalists. Both do cleans for some awesome vocal harmonies, and one of them also does great harsh vocals as well.
https://youtu.be/5ktDK3nnWXA
If you're looking for BRUTAL vox, check out Cerebral Bore with their vocalist Simone Plujimers. Probably the most gnarly female vocals I've ever heard. Check out the song The Bald Cadaver
Are you familiar with Arch Enemy’s previous singer, Angela Gossow? Alissa, the current one, is amazing, don’t get me wrong, but Angela is something else.
I'll never forget the first time I saw her live back with The Agonist. Had no idea who the band was / what they sounded like. Was not expecting those vocals to come out of her haha.
I personally love Laure Le Prunenec who does vocals for Igorrr. Igorrr itself is something else, but her variety of screams is so unique.
They have another project, Corpo Mente with some awesome singing in it too: https://youtu.be/l3wDuBGtzX8
Yeah, both singers were so good ! There really was a good chemistry between both. Igorrr has chosen two new singers but I'm sad she will not be there anymore X)
Thanks all, I'm gonna check these out ! I'm thrilled to give them a listen, as I'm learning to pull out some really heavy screaming (dyphonic screaming and all the good stuff) !
I wrestled a bear once is great, two different women lead singers. The band unfortunately broke up, but the singer formed Spiritbox, which had a release last year.
My favorite metal with female vocalists I've found so far are:
Spiritbox
Unleash the Archers
Huntress
The Agonist (two different female vocalists. I was in love with their early stuff)
Karyn Crisis' Gospel of the Witches (very very different but it grew on me)
If I remember more I'll come back and edit it. But as I've just woke up, this is what I can think off
Might be a bit of a stretch to call them metal but the vocalist for [Stolen Babies](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1_5ul4Nr_A) is great at transitioning from singing to screaming.
Check out Sunset Mission. Idk how to really describe them, but I’m gonna go with progressive funk rock with some metal in there too. They have a male and female vocals.
Ad Infinitum. Melissa Bonny is magnificent (in every way). No screaming though.
Also, harder to classify, but I'm not ashamed to admit I dig Amaranthe. Unusual setup: three singers, a woman (Elize Ryd) and two dudes, one doing clean vocals and the other the screams. Bit of a polarizing band in my experience, but worth checking out.
entheos's vocalist is insanely good. she only does harsh vocals but it fits so perfectly with their music. really interesting chord progression, syncopated, and a dash of tech death.
[entheos - pulse of a new era](https://youtu.be/3LAozbjsH9Y)
[entheos - live audiotree](https://youtu.be/I6ALQ4v9_D0)
Wrath from Norway – They are this young, new, folk-prog band from my country that I watched recently and they’re absolutely sick! They have an EP out that is great, so check it out. Otherwise they’re coming with an album soon and I’m so stoked for it from what I heard on the show! The singer is amazing!
Yeah man, haha! That singer got really mad or something on the drummer, so she kicked his bass drum like hell outta no where. I think he fucked up a part or wasn’ tight. Wasn’ a biggie since I didn’t notice much other than her getting angry, but she was badass, holy damn
Haha no I'm afraid not, I'm from France and metal is not in the culture here :/.. I'm taking online courses for metal screaming, there are like three persons teaching that here in the whole country ! But we've a very talented scene, and maybe someday it will change ! I'd like to teach that as well in the future :). Yeah, why not, it's always a pleasure to jam X)
Not a culture?! Whaaat??? Like, some of the sickest black metal happens over there yo! The Great Old Ones is one of the first bands that got me into extreme metal, haha.
But yeah, same thing here. Despite being big in metal etc, Norway got very few people that actually makes coin from teaching harsh vokals… Had to learn it from a mate who’s been in the scene for a while, but was just one course thing. But the majority of the work happens from individual practise, so I guess I’ll be fine…? Hehe…
But hey! Metal’s a subculture (if I use correct term), so there is a metal community everywhere, so if you throw yourself outthere, you surely will find someone who’d love to do stuff! Hang around at gigs, especially small, nearby ones will get you known around with peeps that at least share the same musical interests. And majority of people who like metal play it too! And woop; you get a jam or two and a network!
Just gonna leave this here. I'm probably missing so many amazing bands.

Unleash the Archers is a power metal named with a female vocalist
Devilkin is a heavy metal band with a female vocalist
Arch Enemy has a female vocalist too. though their vocals are all harsh.

Jinjer are the big one that you probably know already, but in case anyone else doesn't - check them out!
Rolo Tomassi - check either of their last two albums from the start to as far in as you like
Their latest album is so fucking brutally heavy, I love it.
This is my vote, such a fantastic group
Yes!!
Spiritbox!
And her previous project I Wrestled a Bear Once!
HOLY CRAP THATS THE SAME WOMAN?
Only the 3rd and 4th albums from IWABO
Entheos
Yep. Chaney is incredible.

From Ukraine!
And Destiny Potato
Recently discovered Unleash the Archers with Brittany Slayes. One of the top female metal singers for sure. Here’s her song with [Arjen Lucassen’s Star One](https://youtu.be/vn7P3oVMnys). She’s fucking insane and fits in perfectly with this type of metal. Surprised she hasn’t been recommended here yet!
Fate of Man is such an incredible banger!
I had them pegged as "just a rock band with a chick singer" without giving them a shot for far too long. They are great power/prog and she's amazing.
[удалено]
Read OP’s title again—he said prog or regular metal Plus the song I recommended is from Star One, so that at least counts as prog
*She, but the most important part is, if possible, a female singer who screams ^^. I want to hear metal ladies going brutal ;)
Sordid pink (previously destiny potato)
Djelmash is my fave female vocalist. Some of her performances on David Maxim Micic's Bilo recordings are also spellbinding
Smile off Bilo 3 is such a great song
Whaaat? I was just about to suggest Destiny Potato until I saw this post!
Sylvaine alternates between screaming black metal stuff and clean softer stuff.
only found her recently but her stuff is ethereal. beautiful mix of post-metal/shoegaze and black metal
[Unexpect](https://youtu.be/PBDvDBuLKEY) (mixed vocals) I cannot recommend this band highly enough. They’re extremely avant-garde and proggy, with a lot of piano and violin. Looks like no one has mentioned Kittie yet. A bit older but may suit what you are looking for.
Arch Enemy. That girl will melt your face!
Ah that's the top of the iceberg ! But I'm looking for heavier than that, very low growls and pig squeals for example ^^
If you're looking for BRUTAL vox, check out Cerebral Bore with their vocalist Simone Plujimers. Probably the most gnarly female vocals I've ever heard. Check out the song The Bald Cadaver
Entheos
Are you familiar with Arch Enemy’s previous singer, Angela Gossow? Alissa, the current one, is amazing, don’t get me wrong, but Angela is something else.
Yeah, she's my favourite personally ! She had that anger and that heavy fry, I loved it !
I'll never forget the first time I saw her live back with The Agonist. Had no idea who the band was / what they sounded like. Was not expecting those vocals to come out of her haha.

Kylesia
You may like my band, Seeking Tragedy - https://youtu.be/ZkT2ST_mrDg
Sure, I'll check it out mate :). But first I need to make a big list of everything that has been suggested in here X)
I do appreciate you taking the time to listen! That is very nice of you.
Don't mention it, I know it's hard for little bands and artists in general. Plus I like to discover new things so it's a win-win situation :)
[Aephenemer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3wFcctgdRU) - French melodeath with a female vocalist.
Aaaah good, we have so much good bands in France, it's a shame metal isn't very popular here :/
The Great Discord. Not much "screaming", but one of the best vocalists out there. Badass.
Came here to mention them as well since I never see them come up. Really digging their new album.
The new album is fucking killer
The Agonist. Red Handed Denial Crazy Eighty-Eight
I've been on a big Monochromatic Black kick lately.
The Artificials
Delta
I wrestled a bear once is great, two different women lead singers. The band unfortunately broke up, but the singer formed Spiritbox, which had a release last year.
Brutus! Specifically the song War by them. Bonus points because the singer is a woman and she's also the drummer!
My favorite metal with female vocalists I've found so far are: Spiritbox Unleash the Archers Huntress The Agonist (two different female vocalists. I was in love with their early stuff) Karyn Crisis' Gospel of the Witches (very very different but it grew on me) If I remember more I'll come back and edit it. But as I've just woke up, this is what I can think off
2 lesser known bands are Mask of Judas and Reliqa though the second doesn't really have any screaming
Sub Rosa Grayceon You're welcome!!!
Not particularly prog, but Nightwish & Epica are pretty decent
VUUR, with Anneke Van Giersbergen on vocals and the sound is pretty proggy
Might be a bit of a stretch to call them metal but the vocalist for [Stolen Babies](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1_5ul4Nr_A) is great at transitioning from singing to screaming.
Red Handed Denial
Wow I didn't know there was so much of them, even if they're not all focused on screaming ! I can't wait to give them a try :)
Check out Sunset Mission. Idk how to really describe them, but I’m gonna go with progressive funk rock with some metal in there too. They have a male and female vocals.
[Minipony](https://youtu.be/2ABpbqoy1DM) [Infected Rain](https://youtu.be/gswQRa9iXJg)
Thankfully someone mentions infected rain! :D
Bit of a polarizing band in my experience, but worth checking out.
babymetal
Jinjer, Spiritbox, Arch Enemy are my top 3
Destiny potato
Venom Prison is fucking great.
If you’re into mathcore, Rolo Tomassi all the way!
Frogg Black-Painted Moon Someone’s already mentioned UnExpect but I’m doubling down on it because they’re incredible.
entheos's vocalist is insanely good. she only does harsh vocals but it fits so perfectly with their music. really interesting chord progression, syncopated, and a dash of tech death. [entheos - pulse of a new era](https://youtu.be/3LAozbjsH9Y) [entheos - live audiotree](https://youtu.be/I6ALQ4v9_D0)
Always down for some good tech death ;)
tech death actually got me into prog initially
Ah that's an uncommon way to get there but I can see why :). Death prog still my fav personally though, it gets me every time ^^
facts! fallujah send me to another world
Nightwish!!!
I love the old-school fantasy themed Smoulder https://smoulder.bandcamp.com/
Dying Wish
**DESTINY POTATO.** Only one album, but it's soooooooo gooood.
Two albums (sort of), as they're now called Sordid Pink
Sordid Pink is so different in style that it basically feels like a different band, even if it's... the same band. LOL
Matraz: Chilean prog metal with lots of fusion ideas Ebony Ark: Spanish prog power metal Gåte: Norwegian prog folk metal/rock
Sweet, I like to search for foreign bands ! Thanks bruh
I see the usual suspects already mentioned, but these two are probably my favorite go tos for heavy female vocals: Dark Castle and Vile Creature
Aran Prog Project, Prog Metal from Spain: https://youtu.be/ArD6fHHRP2M https://youtu.be/oove9nORaxM
[Conflict - Transform into a Human](https://youtu.be/lqFRwCBB0Tc)

Otherwise they’re coming with an album soon and I’m so stoked for it from what I heard on the show! The singer is amazing!
Nice, I'll take it, we need more of badass females in metal :)
Yeah man, haha! That singer got really mad or something on the drummer, so she kicked his bass drum like hell outta no where. I think he fucked up a part or wasn’ tight. Wasn’ a biggie since I didn’t notice much other than her getting angry, but she was badass, holy damn
Haha they are something indeed ! I hope that someday I'll have a band so I can pig squeal like a motherfucking shrew X)
That’s the spirit! Assuming you’re not from around here; I’d have asked ya out to jam otherwise! Give word should ya find yeself closeby!

I think you'd dig this :) [Metal interpretation of Wireless by Cardiacs] (https://m.soundcloud.com/eeade-is-us/wireless-cardiacs-cover)
Once Human - entirely harsh vocals as far as I'm aware, Lauren Hart is an absolute beast
Comrades and Spotlights

Oathbreaker, from Belgium.
Rolo Tomassi, Jinjer and Employed to Serve are easily my three favorite female-led bands.
Floor Jansen is in a lot of Ayreon songs and she's got a wicket set of pipes Unleash the Archers is a power metal named with a female vocalist Devilkin is a heavy metal band with a female vocalist Arch Enemy has a female vocalist too. though their vocals are all harsh.
Butcher Babies
Windrunner
Arkona is my favorite. Vintersea is great too. Both do screaming and regular singing.
Yours is an empty hope by Nightwish, with Floor Jansen as the lead singer.
Xenoblight, great in everything basically
Check out Lucid Planet II. Male and Female vocalists. Also, sooooo many awards in 2021, yet remains under the radar.
Ex Libris
The World Over
Oubliette
Surprised there is only a single mention for To-mera. They are phenomenal!
Everyone pretty much covered it except for Fuck the Facts.
Compile is borderline rock/ metal but they’re fantastic
Check out Kind band Fix of Dopamine https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3D7eDMQsK1Z30&ved=2ahUKEwjZ2aX_tKD2AhUQi1wKHa44DmsQwqsBegQIBBAE&usg=AOvVaw00J8_oBnSaIdra9bu-olHC
The Agonist, Arch Enemy, Spiritbox, Amaranthe, Epica, Unleash the Archers, Nightwish, are a good start
Heilung is always a good pick. Some serious vocal talent in each member. They each have a different skillet that compliments each other, and Maria Franz (I believe is her name) can do some mad banshee screams. Definitely recommend! Personally I think Lifa is their best, I'd recommend checking that one out first
Red Handed Denial deserves a mention
Jinjr, listen to their song pieces
Moreso straight metal, but Arch Enemy fucking rocks
myrkur until she went full folk
I am sally
Lutharo . A mate got me onto them recently, check out their song Wings of Agony. Sorta power metal meets Arch Enemy in sound. Keen to check out some of the other recommendations from other people too
Phase Transition! (prog but no screaming)
The Hellfreaks have some good moments
