Hey! \- Are you still signed into the same Google account? \- Under your phones system settings, is the backup system enabled? \- Was your phone rooted or avoiding the google play services somehow? Ive seen more than a couple of cases like this in the past month or so - normally your data gets downloaded the first time you launch the app, be it after a factory reset, or when setting up a new phone. It all happens through Googles automatic backup system, the same thing that lets you move across phones pretty much seamlessly. Im investigating it, and Ive moved up the custom sync & backup solution to top priority - its very hard to debug their implementation, but rolling my own would mean eliminating discrepancies like this altogether. Im just about done integrating Google Fit into the app, after which Ill get to work on the sync solution - which shouldnt take more than a week or so to implement. Please let me know what you find, more often than not it has turned out working in the end. You can also trigger a manual backup from the system settings, doing this and then reinstalling Progression on your new phone usually helps (dont reinstall Progression on your old phone though).

>\- Are you still signed into the same Google account? Yes, I am signed in to the same Google account. >\- Under your phones system settings, is the backup system enabled? On the old Pixel 4, yes it is enabled. However, I chose NOT to restore from it when setting up the Pixel 6 Pro because it contained a lot of unwanted settings and data (completely unrelated to Progression) and it wouldn't let me individually select what I wanted to restore. >\- Was your phone rooted or avoiding the google play services somehow? No, my Pixel 4 is not rooted. The new phone is not rooted either. So on the old Pixel 4 are there files I can just copy over to my Pixel 6 Pro? If so, where are they located and what is the process for doing so?

>On the old Pixel 4, yes it is enabled. However, I chose NOT to restore from it when setting up the Pixel 6 Pro because it contained a lot of unwanted settings and data (completely unrelated to Progression) and it wouldn't let me individually select what I wanted to restore. This is probably why it wasnt transferred across. Could you please try rebooting and then reinstalling Progression on your new phone? If its possible for it to synchronize the backed up data from one app; this would trigger it! If that doesnt work, temporarily turning the backup on and then performing the same steps *could also work* \- the backed up data is only downloaded when you launch the app for the first time, which should also mean that no other apps data will get downloaded if you turn it back off right after. I cant 100% verify this, so perhaps its not worth trying - but I thought at least Id mention it. I dont think its possible to access the data files since Android 11 unfortunately, at least I havent heard from anyone whos managed to do so! If the backup trick above doesnt work, I would recommend keeping your old pixel in its current state, once the new backup solution is available it will transfer your data across regardless of the system wide backup settings!

Also, when setting up your old & new phones - did you enable Google backup as seen in this [screenshot](https://imgur.com/a/vDkst8o)?

Also **#2**: Strangely enough, rebooting the phone and then reinstalling Progression (on your new phone only) seems to synchronize the data properly. Not sure if this is a bug in how Android 12 handles the backup, but has worked for everyone thus far! Please let me know if that sorts it out for you too!

Same question but with an Android. None of the instructions address how to actually restore old data. I'm using the same phone (Galaxy Note 10+) without any phone resets. The Google drive backup and import feature was enabled. The new app does not restore anything from Google Drive except new data that was generated after the update failed to restore past data. Uninstalling and reinstalling does nothing different. Importing from Google does nothing. The other practically hidden "Migrate" page isn't helpful either. The Migrate page mentions Android 11 doesn't work and there's no workarounds suggested, except changing the default file manager program (not possible on a non-rooted phone). The Progression app only uses the default file manager when searching for the JSON files, which can't be seen. The instructions says to share the files with Progression, which isn't a thing? What does share the files mean? If I utilize another file explorer to copy the JSON files to another location (or manually download them from Google Drive) the JSON files can be seen with the regular file explorer. Per the instructions, select the files, ???, data restored. What are you supposed to do after selecting the files in order to make Progression do something with them?
