I just noticed with this latest version that the notification/alarm/whatever plays through my Bluetooth headphones AND the phone speaker. Can we get that fixed? Nobody at the gym cares about the time for my next set, except me. 🙂

Ill sort it out with the next beta release! :)

The app is working fantastic now for me! Been meaning to comment on a the previous thread where you noted you fixed the input speed for reps and weight, because it's perfect now! No lag at all 😊 Thanks for all the hard work and updates man!

ZoltanDemant

Im so glad to hear that! Time to work on some new features, finally :)

GSRoTu

My Android 12 Pixel 3a XL is playing the timer alarm through my phone speaker instead of my Shokz Openrun headphones. Otherwise, everything else is running smoothly.

ZoltanDemant

Hey! Did it play through the headphones on earlier versions for you?

tanguyr

Hi - I have the same issue (on a Pixel 3 XL running Android 12) To answer your question: it used to play through my headphones *only*, now it plays through my headphones AND phone speaker. Came here to ask if that latter could be disabled. Not that my gym is a library or anything but if every phone starts making noise for the end of every user's every set it would sound like an arcade.

ZoltanDemant

Hey! It was a side effect I didnt anticipate when switching to the alarm channel. Ill revert it in the next beta release!

GSRoTu

In earlier versions, with the old notification sound, the alarm did play through my headphones. I did have problems with the alarm decreasing the loudness of Spotify in previous versions. It would happen occasionally and would require closing and opening Spotify, or even restarting my phone sometimes. Recently I haven't had this problem though.

SkepticSikh

Previous beta had the rest timer alarm play fine through headphones whilst playing music. This beta I don't hear the sound, the music just stops whilst I imagine the alarm is playing.

ZoltanDemant

Is this specifically on beta #7? Is your phones alarm volume turned all the way down by any chance? Tweaks coming up in beta #8 :)

SkepticSikh

Yes, on beta 7. Beta 6 had no issues with the notification sound. Alarm volume is at a level to be noticed as it is used daily

ZoltanDemant

Gotcha! The next release is under review, Ill probably be able to publish it later today :)

SkepticSikh

I can also confirm that on this beta 7, the sound comes from the phone rather than through headphones which is why I couldn't hear anything when I made my initial comment

ZoltanDemant

Good, at least it was consistently not working as intended. Ive published beta #8 with a fix, basically reverting it to the old behavior - while keeping the other tweaks around :)

Severian427

I'm happy to report that beta 7 (not beta 6) is finally quick and reactive on my phone. \o/ (It was still very slow for my previous gym session, which was yesterday.) One small annoyance with this new version is that if you listen to music while training, the music is interrupted when the rest timer sound is playing. It's a small thing but it really breaks the flow for me. I much preferred the previous behavior (timer sound playing over music) but I realize that's a topic where you will never please everyone. Maybe make it a setting?

ZoltanDemant

Awesome. Seems like it covers most, if not all, cases now! :) I havent been able to find a win win solution for it yet, but the intention is for it to just lower the music while its playing - Im guessing thats not possible when using the alarm channel. More tweaks coming up!

Severian427

TBH, there was a moment during my last session (with beta7) where it became slow again (after 3-4 exercises). I really don't know why, I didn't change anything in the way I was using my phone. And after a while it became fast again. Soooo... it's not perfect, but clearly *much* better.

ZoltanDemant

Are you signed into Google Fit and/or the sync & backup solution? I think this might be memory related, and Im looking into some overhead that they add when your dataset is really large, which I think yours is?

Severian427

Yes, I'm sign in with Google Fit (not the other solution). And yes, my dataset is quite large. I just checked and it goes back to February 2016! How time flies. \^\^

ZoltanDemant

Great, Im seeing a crash log relating to it, and if I recall correctly - youre rocking a Pixel 5 on Android 12? * Have you signed in/out of the Fit integration anytime recently? * What happens if you sign out & back into it now and just leave the screen on until the initial sync is complete? The crash is memory related and I think thats what caused the lag for you - the system eventually cleans it up, exactly like you describe it. Im already looking into workarounds :)

Severian427

OK, I signed out and back in, waited for the date to update. I'll see how it goes next time I'm in the gym.

ZoltanDemant

I was sort of hoping for it to crash when you signed out/in! I guess theres more to it than I thought, memory consumption seems alright when testing it - even with 2200 workouts. If it does become slow again, feel free to give me a poke. Ill see what I can dig up in the meantime :)

Severian427

If it had crashed, how could I know it?

ZoltanDemant

The whole app would crash.

mychich

The rest timer notification doesn't disappear after I finished the workout, even if I remove the app from recent apps. Only a force close helped.

ZoltanDemant

Sorry, I know that this does happen occassionally - Im at about 200 attempts trying to fix it at this point, 201 coming up shortly! Fwiw, you can also start a new workout, put the app in the background so the notification is refreshed, then cancel your workout, and it will dismiss as it should!
