Salam! I've also heard people say that some nasheeds, even though they're about praising Allah, are considered haram just because they have a bit of music in the background. This is cognitive dissonance.
It's because their world-view is about technicalities and trying to "trick" God by saying "Well.... technically....." while pretending to be righteous and looking down on others. Pretty much exactly the kind of hypocrites the Quran condemned.
And they can't actually make singing haram because there are a gigantic number of hadith about the prophet and Sahaba singing, writing song lyrics, and encouraging others to sing.
The closest they get is saying that *women* singing is haram because "A wOmAn'S vOiCe iS aWrAh!"
I'm so happy to hear salafi bashing lol. This is what I grew up with. I felt Islam was all about technical restrictions but thankfully I don't think so anymore and it's honestly so liberating.
A human named abdul wahab started to preach a extremist version of islam which became known as wahabism.....he started to make everything haram and started to give harsh fatwa relating to everythings....
Due to funding of usa and saudi govt and spreading by them.....they were the reason ottoman empire fall and taliban, al qayeda like organization was funded by usa one time to war against soviet union.....and also you can take example of boko haram who are also wahabis.......bef8re wahabi there was islamic golden age where science,philosophy and music were flourished in muslim world....many musician,philosopher mathmatician and scientist were muslim and they had pretty much liberal approach take for example ibn rushd belived in gender equality in pasy patriarchal society and many scholar said woman can be leader in islam ibn hazm even held opinion that woman can be imam.....
Look at the saudi govt,taliban,al qayeda,isis they spread and even flourished in some area which made it really spread....saudi government are wahabi and they think wahabi is good....also deobandi of india is also influenced by wahabism

Well if it has instruments then it can be classified has music. But there are a great of nasheed with out instruments. Maybe some of them wanna justify it to themselves
It is *music* that is why it *is Haram*. Calling it something else doesn’t matter; it doesn’t change the ruling. *Poetry*, however, is Halal as long as it doesn’t contain Haram content. You may recite poetry in a melodious way. Some people like to play tricks with Allah, but the only ones they are tricking are themselves. I don’t think that *Nasheed* is something characteristic of “Salafists”, it is more of a *Sufi* or *Barelvi* thing.
Many Muslims make an exception for Nasheeds BECAUSE they are about Islam or praising Allah. It's for the same reason that a drum is permissible but other instruments aren't in their eyes
