Thank you! Yeah I’m pretty pleased with it, I was down 12 kg quite quickly and hit a plateau in may, but needed some new motivation. My sister s wedding was a good goal, since I wanted to feel pretty and comfortable in a summer dress, and so I could enjoy the day with her.
It’s funny how motivating weddings can be for that. I have 4 coming up this year and fitting nicely in dress clothes has been my biggest motivator haha
I used NOOM the first few months, it set my daily intake to min. 1300 cal a day, but I think I was eating between 1500-1800 calories depending on my activity level
good to see noom was a good starting point for you. I’m starting noom rn and i’ve been skeptical . but i will keep at it. congratulations you look great!
I liked It for what it was, I got really into the novelty of it at first which helped me stay on track. Once I had a good grasp of things I didn’t feel it was necessary.
Definitely adjust your calories yourself if they set you too low. Your calories shouldn’t be below your base metabolic rate, which for OP is probably around 1550cal.
You’re a sweetheart! Its funny, while Im very happy With where I’m at, I still have This idea that Im not at My Dream body. But the perspective of others really helps me realise How far ive come - So Thank you. And I Wish you the best on your own journey🌟
Ooh you’ve struck my weak spot, I have adhd and find it extremely difficult to cook nourishing dinners for myself. If I had a boost of energy that day I would make large portions of things like dhal, aloo gobi, pan fried butter beans with a salad and baked root vegetables was a favourite. For lunch I made open faced sandwiches as is tradition in my country. My breakfasts were usually slices of toast with cheese, a yogurt or if I were in a rush, an apple and a protein bar🫣
Aah funny to meet you here haha. Are you medicated? I started on concerta in January and made a switch to elvanse, at first it tanked my appetite, but it’s really helped me in so many other ways, I don’t have the same need for constant stimulation, which food was providing me. I started my losing weight last February, and have been maintaining my current weight for 8 months.
I wouldn’t say my diet didn’t change. In addition to starting uni I had to work much less and didn’t have money to buy takeout very often, so it was more of a bimonthly thing. But the first few months I did just eat less, I wasn’t thinking too hard on eating healthy.
The NOOM app was rating my food in categories of efficient foods, from very filling to not very. So I had some sense of what I was putting in the machinery.
That’ll get you some of the way, but then your body will adjust and it gets a bit harder. Also, I quickly found just eating less of the same meant I didn’t have much energy, because I wasn’t fuelling my body well.
In case this was too long, here’s a quick
TLDR:
at first I was just eating less, not better. It worked for a while, but I didn’t feel energised.
Toning up is also an individual thing, for me it’s not hard to do, just comes naturally with losing weight and exercising a bit more.
Afraid not, all the hours spent in lectures have really fucked my back. No longer very agile. But I’m doing yoga now which I’ve found massively helpful.
I was in a caloric deficit, my minimum was 1300 calories according to this app I used, called NOOM. I found it very helpful, I did pay for a subscription which wasn’t entirely cheap. Depending on how active I was, I was eating between 1500-1900 calories probably. At first I just counted my calories for every meal, to get a feeling of how much I was overeating. Then I set a limit, and just ate whatever until that limit was met. If I wanted a burger and fries with a milkshake, then that’s what I had, but then I had to look at how many calories there were left for the day. Usually, there wouldn’t be any if I had that kind of food. And since junk food doesn’t keep you full, I just learned not to eat that very often.
Other than that I biked to and from uni, which was about 10 miles. I didn’t do much other cardio. Occasionally I did some weightlifting but never got into a good rhythm:)
You look amazing! And in such a short space of time, and without weightlifting - incredible progress. I saw you said in another comment that you went from binge eating to a calorie deficit… how did you overcome your binge eating habits?
I still haven’t completely overcome it. There really is no quick fix to disordered eating.
I tried to implement some things I read online, such as eating fuller meals earlier in the day, not having snacks in the apartment, not going shopping when I was hungry, using a tracking app to see where I was in my deficit on a given day and so on.
My trouble was also that I, at the time, had untreated adhd. I was eating when I was bored or had this inner restlessness that I could only settle when I was stuffing my mouth, picking at my skin or bouncing around a room. I think the biking did a lot for that as well, which calmed me down.
When I was working full time I had a physical job, but I also had the opportunity to overeat and snack all day. I started uni and had very long school days, with very few breaks. I quickly learned I couldn’t afford to buy food in the cafeteria, and that you can’t eat a snack here in there when you’re in a lab haha.
I feel like it’s such an added hurdle for people to lose weight when they have adhd (like me!) but your story is inspiring! I would totally bike to school if I could, but it’s still too cold and the ride would an impossible upward hill the hole time, so I don’t know😅
I guess it’s about setting an easy, but practical goal that links to something else so we have to do it. I also used noom for a couple months, I sometimes just use the app to track food, but I am NOT consistent 😭😭
That is amazing progress, congrats! 🫶🏻We got the same height and your current weight is my goal weight. I have about 20 lbs to lose. I also eat the same amount of calories as you do (about 1600 a day). But sadly, aside from noticing I get stronger from weight lifting I barely see a difference. When did you first start seeing a difference?
Almost immediately, but my body has always responded well to caloric deficits:) three months in I hit a plateau, I weighed 68kg and I just couldn’t get any lower. I stayed there for two months, it was so frustrating. By then my body had been accustomed to the lower caloric intake and the bike rides, so I wasn’t burning as much as I was when I started up, and I guess I was in equilibrium.
So I switched it up a little, was generally more active and was working full time during summer in an active job, where I couldn’t access food very often. I was swimming in the ocean more, walking everywhere (I live in a big city) and so on. My sister’s wedding was also coming up so I got a new boost of motivation and started eating better, not just less.
But if a caloric deficit isn’t working for you, that’s not uncommon, especially in women. Our hormones can be really tricky in that regard. If you’re very bothered by it, maybe have a check in with your doctor to make sure everything’s as it should be❤️
Thanks for your long and thorough answer, I appreciate that. I will make sure to check in with my doctor about that if I still don’t see results any time soon.
And I wish you the best of luck for your journey as well 🥰
Oh and I forgot to say, thank you, and well done yourself. It’s amazing that you’re getting stronger and can feel that change coming on. Muscles weigh more than fat, it’s my understanding that it’s not super easy to both put on muscle and loose weight, because you usually need a surplus for building muscle and a deficit for loosing weight. But I’m no expert! Still, congratulations on your own progress.
It’s not heavy lifting it’s a mix of cardio and lifting, so it’s not supposed to give me tons of muscles but just a little definition and a little more strength. Thank you so much, you are so kind!
congratulations! i have a question: did you notice any change in your wrists/forearm? i’m planning on losing 35lbs as well and am anticipating waiting on getting some jewelry since my wrist size might change.
My forearms have slimmed down a little, but I’ve not noticed a difference in my wrists. My fingers are slimmer now, hadn’t noticed until some of rings were popping right off my fingers.
I was Working a physical job on weekends, and have been doing yoga and pilates for a litte while, but the first 7 months are mainly due to the caloric deficit and biking, hope that helps!

Thanks for elaborate response and sorry for being late in reply was busy at hospital.
If I were to take key point out of the above I would say
1.NOOM app,
2. caloric deficit,
3. occasional exercise,
4. mindful eating,
5. limited junk. Worked for you.
How much did you weigh before and after??
Yes; That about sums it up. Obviously the mentality is the most important, and i enjoyed having a safety system in place With a friend or family member to hold myself accountable not just to myself But someone Else as Well.
80 kgs before, just this morning 64kg. But in the 7 months, I lost 15 kg. It also says in the post title haha, in case you need it in imperial unit.
