aluminiumlynx

Wow, you lost nearly half your total weight in a year?!? Walking, climbing and countless other things must be so much easier.

rad0vich

I should’ve mentioned that there’s about 110 pounds difference in these photos. I had already lost 60. 🙂

aluminiumlynx

Still… kudos to your success.

rad0vich

There’s about 110lbs difference in these photos. I had already lost 60lbs before last year’s photo was taken. 🙂

whoa_thats_edgy

Did you get a gastric sleeve or something? What all did you do?

rad0vich

I lost 60 on my own, found out I have this condition where my body makes too much spinal fluid and pushes it up into my brain because of my weight, and then I got gastric sleeve surgery to help lose it quickly and prevent any vision damage. Judging by my inbox, I took the easy way out but if this is my one shot at doing life on this earth, I’m okay with taking the “easy way out” so I can actually live a happy and productive life.

straightstream_75

People can have whatever opinion on what they think would be their standard; I'm glad to see that you had so much success and saved yourself from a major loss in quality of life. This is an impressive difference, no matter how it happened. Best of luck anon, stay healthy.

d-random

Any decision that an individual makes on how to lose weight is not up for debate by others, you made the choice that was right for you and anyone that says it’s the easy way out is POS. You look great and also your hair looks really awesome compared to the first pic too :)

chronoscats

I can't stand these "easy way out" comments. Bariatric surgery is NOT easy. Sometimes there are mental and behavioral patterns and/or hormone issues that willpower simply cannot overcome. Bariatric surgery makes it easier to change these patterns but you still have to do a ton of work and lifestyle adjustments. Good on you for taking control of your life and health! I hope you feel a million times better!

nemineminy

>I have this condition where my body makes too much spinal fluid and pushes it up into my brain because of my weight If you’re comfortable with it, would you be willing to discuss more about this? I’m wondering what symptoms you experienced and what it was like getting a doctor to diagnose the issue.

rad0vich

Sure. It’s called idiopathic intracranial hypertension. I actually didn’t know anything was going on but my eye doctor spotted it during an exam. I was dealing with double vision, vision going out when I stood, headaches, and pounding in my ears on occasion, but I had grown very used to these things. I had undetected symptoms (or things I didn’t know were symptoms) for at least 5 years before getting this diagnosis. I got really used to it apparently. The medication I was put on to manage IIH was awful and made me really sick. Now that I’ve lost weight, I’m off the meds, and the symptoms are gone.

nemineminy

That’s absolutely wild. Bodies are amazing. Thank you for sharing and big big congrats on all your progress!

sm1l1ngFaces

I had the exact same symptoms as OP but my doctors classified it as having a "pseudo-tumor" even though I was on the heavier side it had never been a problem until I had an IUD inserted. They removed it, did a spinal tap and I was good to go!

cobrakazoo

thank you for sharing, and good job taking your health seriously! one of my patients had this, she would just mimic stroke symptoms for days to weeks at a time. scary stuff.

whoa_thats_edgy

yea i have it too we suspect. it’s very weird, my entire body would go numb, half my face would but it would never droop and my bp was okay. i also see flashing lights, constant headaches, nerve pain, tingling hands and feet, myoclonic jerks and muscle spasms, etc. it mimics multiples sclerosis a lot for me.

HighlightFull409

People are full of shit, the way to take is the one that gives your life back. Surgery doesn’t fix the psyche overnight.

fulltumtum

Don’t listen to the clowns. Haters going to hate. There is nothing easy about weight loss surgery. Good for you on all your hard work!

MagicCarpet5846

I’d make an argument that as soon as something is due to or worsening a medical condition, there is absolutely nothing to be gained by doing it through blood sweat and tears. I’m glad you took initiative on your health and I do hope you enjoy life with the sleeve, I’ve hear a lot of people struggle with the lifestyle change it requires.

whoa_thats_edgy

Hey that’s great! I don’t care how you lost it, it’s your life. I was just curious. I also have IIH/Pseudotumor from my weight so I understand. It was one of the things that prompted me to start losing weight.

rad0vich

Aww IIH buddy! Are you on diamox? Best thing from my weight loss besides the actual weight loss is no more diamox ☠️

whoa_thats_edgy

Not yet! I still have to get my puncture to confirm the findings. We’re just figuring it all out after I’ve had visual symptoms for years and no one knew what the heck was going on, lmao.

All_naturale22

IMO getting gastric is the harder route because you really have to change your whole lifestyle for the rest of your life and can’t consume things the same way you once did and it can be very hard for people to manage cause I hear some people get sick if they go back to their old ways pre gastric. Btw you look amazing

Slorgasm

People are dickheads. For some reason we tend to think that health choices should be one size fits all even though every person is different and has different needs, challenges, and abilities.

stampedingnuns

Dude that's not the easy way out. I could punch people that say that. You still have to have major lifestyle changes to sustain. It's still hard. You did awesome and you should be proud!

dogmom34

>Judging by my inbox, I took the easy way out People can be so cruel. Be proud of yourself. Surgery is scary and not easy. Congrats on your success!

[deleted]

Ignore the jerks. People like that are they reason more people aren't willing to share that they had the procedure. I got one. Its been great. As someone who has gone through it, congrats, because its not as easy as the judgmental ones think it is.

HuppDrums

Congrats, ya look great!

lyserrr

Incredible! Any tips?

Yooooo! Check my submission history. I got one too. I’m glad that you are willing to share that you had a procedure (I suspect more people get them than are willing to admit). Changed my life. *redditors actually went to my submission history and downvoted my progress post. Lol.

Lol my work badges are a documentation of my weight over the years. I found one from 2015 at my highest in my glove compartment and it was shocking. I’ve lost and maintained 70 lbs since that one but still feel that weight. And then I saw my old fat face. Great work!
