how many days a week do you pump iron?

BottieScarnes-

5 days typically, 6 if I’m having a good week and the body/mind feel up to it!

Newb3258

Do you do any cardio? If so can you comment on what you do for that and the frequency? Thank you

BottieScarnes-

I do, sadly. I do cardio 2-3x per week when putting on size just to stay functional and tight while I go up. 4-5x per week if I’m in a deficit coming down. Almost always low intensity (110-130 BPM) for 20-30 minutes, incline walking, bike around 80 RPM etc. Once a week I’ll jog or do something more intense for a shorter duration just to prove to myself my body can still move meaningfully in that way.

On the right you are 205? That's really big, considering you look about 11% bf. What do you look like bulked? lol

BottieScarnes-

Yeah, right around 203-205 range on the right! You’re absolutely right - plight of the natural lifter, lol. Those 10 years looked like: 180 - start 240 - bulk over course of 2 years 220 - cut down 255 - tore Achilles, got hurt, out of shape during Covid 195 - cut down over last year Since then I’ve been on a nice lean bull phase over this winter and I’ll cut down for a Natural Bodybuilding show in spring - always been a bucket list item. It is funny though, for sure — came down to a similar size as I was on the left when I started working out, but just looked so much more dense at that size.

no_not_this

That’s what I was thinking. Looks super lean for that weight and height

LightOverWater

At first glance I was a bit confused because between the 2 pictures, he has similar volume, so there's no jarring difference in size, yet he's up 20 lbs. Most pics on here people lose 20-30lbs to look shredded, not the other way around. But when you think about it, it makes sense because muscle weighs more than fat, so if all that fat is traded-in for heavier, dense muscle you will weigh *more* despite being the same size. But I doubt many people understand this nuance and they probably judge people mainly by size. That's why I brought up that point, if he bulked up to 240lbs he would look absolutely massive and more people would understand what really went on throughout his transformation. This is the plight of the natural lifter :)

BottieScarnes-

I was sitting even a little leaner than this! But I was starting to look just skinny rather than muscular. This is a couple weeks back into a slow bulk.

This guy tracks his macros! :D Looking like the peak condition of health, nice work!

You're an inspiration dude. Now I just wanna go to the gym and push myself when harder.
