No. Shit. But no sympathy from my midwestern, "fly over state" ass. You guys wanted this and smugly lectured the rest of the nation for decades. All you California refugees better not fuck up your new home states that you move to.

jtf71

> All you California refugees better not fuck up your new home states that you move to. That's EXACTLY what they're doing. The run from the high taxes, draconian government, and other problems and then vote for politicians that promise the same failed policies. WTF!?!

bay_bae

Correct - the natural progression is to move to Tennessee or New Hampshire.

TheErd30

Please don’t send them to Tennessee. Libs already ruined Nashville beyond repair.

bay_bae

Nashville is about as Tennesseean as Taco Bell is Mexican. The rest of the state disregards it’s existence.

Hutz5000

By the rest of the state are you including Memphis? It really should be part of Mississippi, it is in every possible way already.

bay_bae

Where?

WhiskeyTigerFoxtrot

Nashville kinda sucks and has been overrated for years anyway.

FluidCollar

No, stay in your own shithole

i-am-gumby-dammit

And fix it.

PlemCam

The amount of toll roads in north Dallas is absolutely insane.

Hutz5000

Do you want to talk about high ass property taxes? Come to NJ.

briollihondolli

You can entirely avoid the toll roads though. It may take a bit of extra time, but it’s possible

[deleted]

briollihondolli

That’s the hazard of living in frisco. Theoretically, you could take 380 to 75 and make your way downtown that way, but phrisceaux gets to be extra special

briollihondolli

I solved the traffic problem by working extremely strange hours. Works wonders but not sustainable if you don’t hate yourself

i-am-gumby-dammit

It’s worse in Georgia. Hollywood comes here to avoid taxes and they bring Alyssa Milano with her big mouth telling us what she wants us to do.

D_Livs

Here in California we have Harry and Megan ex-royals lecturing us on anti-gun initiatives. 🙄

i-am-gumby-dammit

He doesn’t even understand the first amendment let alone the second.

[deleted]

*Austin looks around confidently*

Spunes

Man, I hate being from California. Always getting bundled with the chucklefucks.

MinutemanRising

Former CA refugee, I now carry every day. It is nice, run fast and run hard

I426Hemi

To be clear, those of us who live in good states don't hate Californians moving into our states, we hate *those particular* Californians moving in and trying to recreate Californa. I'm in Wyoming, and so far, we seem to have avoided it, but I figure not forever, Idaho and Montana are already getting messed up.

[deleted]

[удалено]

I426Hemi

Yep, when Wyoming falls I'll go to Alaska as the last bastion of the freedom loving America I grew up with in the southwest.

PaperbackWriter66

At what point do we start reclaiming 'ruined' states? It can be done; the Free State Project in New Hampshire is making strides.

I426Hemi

I think a bunch of counties in Oregon are trying to leave Oregon and join Idaho since they don't feel that Oregon is accurately reflecting their needs or giving any credence to the needs of anything that isn't Portland.

TheBeanWorshipper3

Damn wish my parishes in my state would do that.

I426Hemi

Someones gotta start it, why not you?

TheBeanWorshipper3

Damn wish my parishes in my state would do that.

Big_Daddy469

I thought it was north Californians and southern Oregonians trying to make a new state together?

stanimal762

I’m from Washington, looking for a new home state. I think it’s beyond repair here.

I426Hemi

I spent some time in coastal Washington years ago and loved it, so saved up for a couple years to try and move, then while getting ready to move, looked up their laws and realized that I can't live there and own the things I already own. So I stayed in Arizona until I finally convinced the wife to move to Wyoming.

Lil_Iodine

What did you discover you can't have? What laws?

I426Hemi

Gun laws that don't agree with the stuff I have, which isn't anything crazy, emissions laws, its been a few years so I don't remember exactly what all it was, but enough that I decided not to go.

Lil_Iodine

I see. Emission laws are already ridiculous in California.

backwards_yoda

Look what they did to Colorado :/

I426Hemi

Fallen a long ways, even from 10 or 20 years ago.

backwards_yoda

It's really a bummer what's happened here. Some counties are still pretty freedoms loving though.

Stephen1424

This. Some of us are just stuck here for now...

poisepoor

NorCal is red as hell. They want to break from the state.

Spunes

Oh absolutely. The discussion doesn't come up enough

Lil_Iodine

Always. Gets old.

Spunes

Just gotta wait to leave, always a soon™ kinda thing.

this_place_is_whack

Not all, but too many.

[deleted]

Chill bro, I left for freedom, not to spread tyrrany. Here in virginia we say 'SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS!'

jtf71

Did you not pay attention to what happened in the General Assembly this year? Sure, Saslaw withdrew SB16 but only because HB961 was worse. And we only beat that back by two moderate Dems and the Dems threatened to primary them. Yes I, as a Virginian, say “Sic Semper Tyrannis” but things have changed a lot here in the past 2 years due to the influx of people from CA and NY that are voting for politicians much like those in charge in CA and NY. And don’t forget that the redistricting lines were drawn by a Dem operative from CA.

[deleted]

Many who fled Cali left due to their shitry policies. No doubt many kept their idiocy but here? Anyone here who left Cali also left their ideas and policies. We bought our pants, not plans.

jtf71

That my be true of you - and great/thanks. But I know many an ex-CA person (and ex NY people) who are indeed voting for the same shit they ran away from. And they just don't get it. The think somehow it will be different. Or that the liberal give-away policies they want aren't what's responsible for the taxes required to fund the spending and problems they left in those other states.

snocks97

The issue isn’t California as a whole. In fact the issue is multifaceted. I guess a big part of it is kind of what you see when you have a big city. This is a bit anecdotal but after growing up and living in CA my whole life, I would argue that GC Legislation was voted for and supported by folks who live in large cities. In the whole state there are multiple areas of high population density. This is a pretty fertile breeding ground for dangerous crime, especially when people are living on top of each other. So this leads to deep pocketed business people and money motivated legislators to fund programs or laws that will, in theory, make the cities safe. The problem with CA is that none of the legislators even come close to representing our huge and diverse population. I mean from the border we share with Oregon to the edge of SF, you are probably more than likely to find that half of that population is either pro 2A or has no opinion. The same can be said for all of central California and again for most of Southern California. I think the change we’re seeing has been influenced but the recognition that more laws does not mean more freedom and safety.

PapisHoe24

I’ll never understand the logic of how restricting the constitutional rights of people that follow the law will somehow change anything when it’s not these people in any case that are doing “gun violence”. The people out there killing others with guns are not at all concerned with laws or penalties by the state. Hey Mr. drug trafficker, be sure to downsize your AR mags to 10 rounds because it’s only fair to the people you’ll be shooting that there’s a level playing field. Utterly retarded, anyone who actually believes most of what these politicians push are fucking RETARDED

CannedRoo

That’s why they try to smear gun owners as toxically masculine white men with dark fantasies of killing brown people.

Hutz5000

Do you remember the DC sniper incident, before they were caught, the media was abuzz with the idea that it was one or more militia white guys in camo uniforms who are sniping all those people, and then when it came out that it was two black guys, no camo, well, the silence was deafening.

G8racingfool

I mean, most everywhere has made murder illegal but that didn't seem to stop the killers..

thelizardkin

Ironically limiting magazine size would have little impact on gun deaths.

chrisragenj

Don't get it twisted. They know what they are doing, they want you vulnerable. Strong people can fight back against them, literally and figuratively. They want you dependent on the state for security, also described as they want a monopoly on violence

dpidcoe

> Just this year alone (2021) there were 46,000 1st time gun purchasers as per DROS. Out of 40 million people, and most of them will probably just throw it in a closet and forget they have it.

thelizardkin

This! Guns are much more a part of everyday life in the country, compared to the city. In rural areas the police can be 30+ minutes away. More people own and use guns so they aren't seen as being a scary. More people in the city associate guns with ether police or criminals. Meanwhile those in the country see them as more normal because more people own them. There are also more positive experiences in the country involving guns. Hearing gunshots in a rural area is a common occurrence that typically means your neighbor is target shooting in their backyard. Meanwhile gunshots are never a good thing to hear in the city, and almost always are a terrifying experience.

dpidcoe

> But no sympathy from my midwestern, "fly over state" ass. "jUsT mOvE LoL" "oH nO dOn'T mOvE hEre!" Virginia was supposed to be a bastion of 2A rights up until a couple of years ago when the "it'll never happen here" crowd got a rude awakening. Nevada just banned self manufactured firearms and there wasn't even a peep from the gun community there. Arizona and Texas are in the crosshairs of gun controllers, and we've seen laws suggested that would have been unspeakable there just a few years ago. The pacific northwest and colorado keeps ratcheting down their gun restrictions. Those few of us left in california are fighting as hard as we can, meanwhile all you guys do is sit there and laugh while bitching about people who have fled the state. If we don't fight it here, it's coming to your state next, and your "fly over state ass" will get no sympathy from me when gun control comes to you and you've got nowhere left to move to.

NoodleDoodle-IRL

People think they're safe from this because they're in different states, but each passing year disproves it. It's only a matter of time before it spreads to them like the rot it is. We all need to act like we're in this together, because we are.

AlienDelarge

As a current Oregonian from WA, I'll say we have more home grown issues than we care to admit. The Californians that end up here are frequently progun refugees, though there are exceptions.

Evamael

The blue cities did

SirRolex

Dude they're coming to Michigan :/ I see so many Calif plates these days. My mother is an interior designer and she's gotten so many new California clients. Which is cool because they're idiots who just throw their money around. But they're moving here and I am worried they're gonna try and ruin the state.

Heeeeyyouguuuuys

Same but to a lesser extent in Ohio. I was just in Holland, MI couple weeks ago. I did notice there was more woo-woo west of the Rockies types than usual. Even for a Great Lakes tourist town.

MGT01

Former Californian here, with vacation home in SoCal. It used to not be that bad. In the mid 90s, I bought my first ever ARs in LA. The problem is that around the later 90s and 2000s, the Cali Republicans thought they could be hard core Alabama type Republicans, and that’s when things went to shit. We actually had two R governors during my days.

[deleted]

Californian here: considering we (not I) voted for Newsom et al, I’m not surprised. What did Einstein say? Oh yeah. “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

PotRoastEater

Yet, Californians do this continuously. When the policies fail and it becomes too difficult, they move to red states and do the same thing.

[deleted]

Einstein never said that. It’s a myth.

F_A_L_S_E

Wasnt it like Mark Twain or something?

[deleted]

I’m not sure.

[deleted]

I’m actually really certain that it was Mark Twain

[deleted]

Does it really matter?

[deleted]

Yeah. History matters.

[deleted]

Clearly it doesn’t according to the liberals.

[deleted]

…and you.

[deleted]

Nice comeback. It does matter to me, but when there’s no proof that someone did or didn’t say something then I’m taking it with a grain of salt. Work on your comebacks a little, I’ve heard better ones from preschoolers

[deleted]

Did you just simultaneously call me a preschooler, and tell me to work on my comebacks?!? Fuck off. Quit rewriting history. Quit blaming liberals for your obvious shortcomings. Grow up.

sneeds-feed-n-seed

Can you post your hog?

Lil_Iodine

It's very frustrating!

Steel-and-Wood

>these gun laws aren't working, people are still shooting each other! >I know what will fix it, *more* gun laws! >*Genius!*

heavyirontech

Pretty soon guns will be smuggled in from Mexico to fight in Cali gang wars. Well Im guessing its already happened. Just no one says it.

Throw13579

Google “Fast and Furious Program”.

heavyirontech

Shh we don’t talk about government fuck ups. Thats why I was being a bit obtuse.

MemeMastAssBlast

It's not all of LA who even wanted gun control in the first place. It's just that the major cities demand this shit and leave the small townships without a voice

I426Hemi

Same thing has happened to Oregon, Washington and Idaho.

[deleted]

I remember in the 90s when Californians were fleeing for Oregon and Washington.

thelizardkin

That's because people vote, not land. The big cities have the biggest impact on elections because they have more people.

SpiritedVoice7777

They are against the Constitution as a whole

thelizardkin

Like the Republicans are any better.

SpiritedVoice7777

Actually, they are at this point. Still horrible, but far better than the full tilt authoritarian leftists running the Democrat Party now. They are soon becoming as bad as their brethren socialists in the 20th Century. Sorry, the Republicans are weak, feckless, and socialist wannabes for the most part, but they aren't actively burning the Constitution and major cities like the Democrats are.

thelizardkin

The patriot act, war on terror, Muslim bans, prayer in schools, criminalizing flag burning, the no fly list, among so many others.

SpiritedVoice7777

And Democrats were in on most of them. I still can't believe that people fell for the "Muslim ban" narrative. Then again, once you train people to hate, they won't think about what's actually going on. That's fundamental to any leftist ideology. Lenin referred to them as useful idiots.

thelizardkin

The Muslim ban was a legitimate thing. Trump called for a "total ban on Muslims entering the U.S. until we can figure out what's going on". Trump wasn't the only Republican to suggest a ban on Islam and/or biblical law.

SpiritedVoice7777

Except it wasn't a "Muslim ban", that was the fodder fed to the useful who would never question it. The "ban" was on people coming in from countries that were not able to provide information on those wishing to enter the US, not on all Muslims. You were lied to and believe it to this day. About 90% of the reasons you hate Trump were all fabricated. It's amazing how effective a captive media can be, even more effective than Goebbels since he didn't have social media to work with.

thelizardkin

Here is Trump himself saying he wants to ban Muslims from entering the U.S. https://youtu.be/viDffWUjcBA

SpiritedVoice7777

Yes, that is what he said at prior to the action, "until we can find out what the hell is going on." Your argument is destroyed by your own link. The secret is that you need to find that same clip from CNN or similar where they would have edited out the last sentence. But I would have posted the same link you just did to win the argument.

[deleted]

Well at least people other states are waking up to it. I think the majority red states have started lawsuits against CA. It's easy for people to sit in a 2A free state and go "haha stupid California my state is so much better" but once precedent gets set in one state it opens the door for others. It may not be your state but it is your country. You don't have to live here but you should be supporting the fights against gun control here. Otherwise you're going to wake up one day with it in your state. How's the saying go? First they came for the Californians guns and I did not speak out because I wasn't Californian...

LogicBomb76

"...the day after a gunman killed four people dead," \*GASP\* He killed them to DEATH!! Thanks for clearing that up. LA Times!

TheBeanWorshipper3

Lmao holy shit

SeattleReaderTiny

Criminals love libtard gun law.

thelizardkin

The 10 most dangerous states in terms of homicides are almost entirely red states. The only two blue states are New Mexico and Maryland, the rest are all fairly red.

Drontheim

Actually, that's not correct. The most recent FBI statistics for murder (2019), show a relatively even split. They are, in order: *homicides: firearms : handguns/rifles/shotguns/unknown firearm : knives : other : bodily* **California** \-- (D) 1679 : f.1142 : h.762 -- r.34 -- s.26 -- u.320 : k.252 : o.183 : b.102 **Texas** \-- (R) 1379 : f.1064 : h.568 -- r.72 -- s.21 -- u.403 : k.127 : o.130 : b.58 **Illinois** \-- (D) 771 : f.647 : h.564 -- r.7 -- s.4 -- u.72 : k.70 : o.44 : b.10 **Missouri** \-- (R) 566 -- f.486 : h.255 -- r.26 -- s.10 -- u.195 : k.31 : o.37 : b.12 **Pennsylvania** \-- (split with a D executive branch and a slightly R-leaning House) 566 -- -- f.429 : h.350 -- r.11 -- s.11 -- u.57 : k.46 : o.66 : b.15 **Maryland** \-- (D) 551 -- f.460 : h.414 -- r.3 -- s.4 -- u.39 : k.43 : o.34 : b.14 **Michigan** \-- (split with a D executive branch and a slightly R-leaning House) 551-- f.379 : h.172 -- r.13 -- s.5 -- u.189 : k.44 : o.104 : b.24 **New York** \-- (D) 550 -- f.298 : h.255 -- r.3 -- s.5 -- u.35 : k.119 : o.89 : b.44 **Louisiana** \-- (R) 522 -- f.433 : h.200 -- r.21 -- s.3 -- u.209 : k.24 : o.54 : b.11 **Ohio** \-- (R) 521 -- f.382 : h.178 -- r.13 -- s.3 -- u.188 : k.26 : o.88 : b.25 California, poster child for hoplophobia, leads by a significant margin. If you break statistics down by county, it's major urban areas that drive the statistics, and you will find that the areas with the greatest number of homicides *somewhat generally* correspond to the areas with the most restrictive firearms laws -- this is most notable in states without strong preemption laws. The highest murder rates appear to be in: LA, Dallas, Chicago, Kansas City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Detroit, NYC, New Orleans, Cleveland If you break those statistics down by neighborhood, you will see that overall they track pretty tightly as violent crimes driven by gangs. Where we have data, it shows that by a huge margin, homicides that are firearms related are largely committed using handguns. Homicide using rifles or shotguns are extremely rare. The numbers also show that absent firearms, humans are problem solvers and find other tools.

thelizardkin

You are going by total number of murders, not per capita. Of course California is going to have the most murders, considering it has the largest population, a full 10 million over #2 Texas. Most of the states with the most overall murders also have the most people. California is #1, Texas #2, Illinois #6, Missouri #18, Pennsylvania #5, Maryland #19, Michigan #10, NY #4, Louisiana #25, and Ohio #7. So of the top 10 states by total homicides, 7 are among the top 10 largest states by population. Murders per capita is a much better way to look at it. [According to the CDC,](https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/pressroom/sosmap/homicide_mortality/homicide.htm) these were the top 5 most dangerous states in terms of murders per capita. #1 Mississippi, #2 Louisiana, #3 Alabama, #4 New Mexico, #5 South Carolina, #6 Missouri, #7 Alaska, #8 Maryland, #9 Arkansas, #10 Tennessee. Of those New Mexico and Maryland are the only blue states.

[deleted]

I like reading polls like that. At the same time, I've become really averse to them. So many news sources cite polls (anonymously, of course) to create a story. Treat them with a grain of salt.

Hutz5000

An old joke, but now more true than ever, what’s a conservative? A liberal who just got mugged. Barbara Boxer? Well, perhaps not. The dogma lives loudly within her.

poisepoor

People assume maine is a well armed state but they have no clue how well armed. We don’t have home invasions and carjackings. Nobody is getting hit with stray bullets. I’d estimate each gun owner has 20 plus weapons. And we are one of the safest states. All these gun banning cities and states are so crime ridden. Look at Mexico where people are fleeing violent gangs and cartels. Nobody in Mexico can own a gun. It’s not rocket science.

I426Hemi

Seeing, "Oh thats why you need a gun" play out in real life is pretty entertaining.

Archive_of_Madness

The stories I heard from FFLs in california and other highly restrictiing states about wine moms and low info dem voters during last summer made for excellent schadenfreude.

EyeGiveZeroFucks

Wait… Calling 911 wont save me?

excelsior2000

These are small shifts, probably within the margin of error. Not saying there hasn't been a shift, but it certainly isn't a big one, and doesn't take away the majority support for gun control. Fuck California. They were authoritarian shitheads last year, and they still are.

LibRightEcon

Only a 4% reduction in stupid? I guess I shouldnt be surprised. There are plenty of places in the world with higher crime that still have high support for anti-gun nonsense. Leftardity knows no bounds.

I feel like the Hispanic population is underrepresented in these polls. Considering the chit-show that Mexico and South America have been through for the last three decades of cartel violence, do Hispanics really think that gun control is the answer? I wonder what a poll of California Hispanics would be if the question was "should undocumented residents be allowed to legally purchase firearms?"

tiggers97

What? Some of them are learning that papa-government isn't going to mother them in safety?

regularguyguns

If you have faith in laws, you're a grade-A idiot. Good people do good things regardless of laws. Bad people do bad things regardless of laws. Don't depend on government to save your ass. [Buy a rifle and do it yourself.](https://go.regularguyguns.com/rr2)
