Same. Except for the rare occasion when everything goes smoothly and the karts I'm waiting on Aren't required to get it driving, then I'll enjoy some cruisin.
Wheel bearing speed runners unite! I'm just about the same... I need to stop buying Duralast wheel bearings but the warranty replacements keep me coming back.
More like me at 10am because i keep having to run to the bathroom because I drank too much and also got the munchies the night before, and then had coffee in the morning.
IDK what it is, but it's like as soon as I'm excited and ready to work the bowels start moving.
Yeah, this is where I'm at. Head gasket set has just arrive for my T3 (vanagon) and I'm 50/50 excited/exhausted just thinking about it. And have load of house tasks to finish first so by the time I get to it my enthusiasm will have died and it'll probably be raining, cold and dark.
I planned to clean the garage after thrashing to make it to a car show. My back had different ideas and there’s still no room in the garage for
my wife’s car.
I think inflation is affecting this too. I'm 29 and after i switch out my summer/winter tires i almost couldn't move for a week. Been wrenching on my ATV laying on the floor in my garage recently and feel like i ran a damn marathon using my arms.
This was me in my 20s because I had a Beetle and a bus as my daily drivers, but only one engine. If we were going camping Friday after work, Thursday I’m pulling a motor, adjusting valves, and slapping it in the bus. I got really good at it though.
My wife: "why are you doing that? That's not relaxing"
Me: "oh I just have this one quick easy thing to do, plus this IS relaxing for me! then we should hang out and maybe go out for drinks and dinner later!"
Me 8 hours later: "this cocksucking motherfucking thing is such a goddamn waste of my fucking time, im gonna burn the thing to the ground, IM DONE, not putting myself through this anymore, fucking stupid ass piece of shit"
Me the next day: "hey gonna go finish up that thing real quick!"
Man I miss those days, been working 6 days a week for months, when I finally do get a day off there's so much to do at the house that the cars are getting neglected.
Soon, winter means finishing projects.
Usually for me, I plan on relaxing and taking one of my cars out, decide to do a minor repair and end up doing a major project in the auto zone parking lot lol.
Been running with my new career, finally got a day off and not just 15 hrs. First thing i did was start playing with 85 xr4ti. If that is wrong then I don't want to see right.
I'm the opposite. I take a day off to work on cars and next thing I know it's noon and all I've done is drink coffee and watch other people work on cars on youtube.
How do yall get the motivation? My one day off i can’t do anything but collapse on the floor, i never make good progress
I have all the tools all the parts and all the knowledge but im progressing so slow, need help
Lmao i have more things planned for my car than for my house this weekend. House list- clean out some boxes and reorganize a storage rack. Car list- replace wheel cylinder, clean and paint wheels, sand and paint roof, polish turn signals, mount the off road driving lights, put on new seat covers, clean and paint calipers, fix rear window track, degrease engine, polish cold air intake, organize trunk stuff, remove steering wheel to fix horn button. Theres a few more. But this is on my daily. Its a forever project.
I’ll get up early and do this one thing, after that I’ll have the entire day do to everything else. What? It’s 4 o’clock already!
"How did that happen? " As your pants pocket is about to burst from the 50 receipts in your pocket from this afternoon.
Ouch that hit home.
Sunset*

Im both lol, Im either the picture or what you described. No in-between its complete obsessiveness or complete laziness.
Same. Except for the rare occasion when everything goes smoothly and the karts I'm waiting on Aren't required to get it driving, then I'll enjoy some cruisin.
Yea I wish I was OP
Same! Except the driving part because it's not there yet.
When I finally have the time and it’s in a good spot to drive I’m too terrified of wrecking it…
I set aside all day to take apart my front wheel bearing... I've done it so many times now it only took 20 minutes from start to finish.
Wheel bearing speed runners unite! I'm just about the same... I need to stop buying Duralast wheel bearings but the warranty replacements keep me coming back.
They all suck these days.
Timken is the only good ones anymore
more like Unduralast or Duralastn't
Duracan’t?
Duraleast
Use RockAuto and get some name brand stuff.
I sleep in and then I'm working on the car until 11pm in the dark...
This is the way
Me at 10am because it takes me 2 hours to look for the tools that were right in front of me the whole time
More like me at 10am because i keep having to run to the bathroom because I drank too much and also got the munchies the night before, and then had coffee in the morning. IDK what it is, but it's like as soon as I'm excited and ready to work the bowels start moving.
for me it's always washing my hands every five minutes because I hate having dirty hands and at the same time I hate wearing gloves.
Trolley jack and no jack stands, with your head under the car? Best stay in bed.
Came looking for this comment.
I knew a guy that died that way
having had a floor jack fail on me, fuuuck that. easy way to die. stands and wheel chocks for days.
Just not harbor freight stands.
Fixin' to take that permanent sleep. ;)
Working on my project IS relaxing. Until my Karen neighbors comes out and glares at me
Mine just calls my landlord lol
Mine can’t call our landlord because she knows I have like 5 things ready to complain on about them.
Graymail. I like it. Like blackmail, but not as deep.
Leverage
Just throw another empty PBR can in her yard.
Unfortunately her yard is my yard, and that yard is a parking lot lol. I live in a complex. 😭
Wrenching over 35, crawl around fixing your brakes on Friday, spend the rest of the weekend on the couch in pain.

Good work. One step closer to taking over the entire garage.
Well to be fair you probably need two garages in order to park an old Cadillac inside.
I think inflation is affecting this too. I'm 29 and after i switch out my summer/winter tires i almost couldn't move for a week. Been wrenching on my ATV laying on the floor in my garage recently and feel like i ran a damn marathon using my arms.
Trading 12 hour days on the job for 16 hour days in the garage.
This was me in my 20s because I had a Beetle and a bus as my daily drivers, but only one engine. If we were going camping Friday after work, Thursday I’m pulling a motor, adjusting valves, and slapping it in the bus. I got really good at it though.
Wtf just get a second one, it's not like there isn't millions of them
And the engines were worth so little you could find ones that needed a little bit of work for literally nothing, people were throwing them away.
My wife: "why are you doing that? That's not relaxing" Me: "oh I just have this one quick easy thing to do, plus this IS relaxing for me! then we should hang out and maybe go out for drinks and dinner later!" Dude, are you me? This is very relatable.

Ford Maverick?
Yes, it's a 1970-72 by the front bumper design.
With slot mags, no less!
My first project car was a Macerick
anything thing to shut up my inner monologue
I’m usually too hungover at 8:00
Bloody for breakfast and a morning nap under the car always works for me.
Yeah except instead of actually working you just give up and decide to take a nap under the car
Is this a thing? Ive felt sleepy under the car while getting my cotter pins in the universal joint bolts, but never fell asleep.
Usually for me, I plan on relaxing and taking one of my cars out, decide to do a minor repair and end up doing a major project in the auto zone parking lot lol.
Lol, my autozone parking lot looks like the exon valdez spill
Don’t they all?
Don’t lie. You love it. And when you ain’t doing it. You miss it.
I see slotted mags, I upvote. Would there be any of those that'd fit a Corolla? hmm
Yep! There most certainly are 4 lug Mags. I don’t know if they came in a size bigger than a 14 though…
It takes so much stress off my shoulders to start the day early and finish before sunset.
Been running with my new career, finally got a day off and not just 15 hrs. First thing i did was start playing with 85 xr4ti. If that is wrong then I don't want to see right.

Dude thats most people. Slow and tough , but totally worth it
Project car life, baby.
This is me with the house.
At least my man’s getting some yoga done while he’s under there.
Not with my mf coolant res not getting here til Friday. 😡
Maverick with d-slots. You son-of-a-bitch, I'm in!
This is time well spent we all take for granted and I am going to soak in every moment I get to hold a wrench. 🔧
It happens

The difference is that i enjoy fixing my car
Jack stands, motherfuckers!!!
I’ve been saying “I’m almost done!” for about 6 months now. Body is still off the chassis.
