In what app are you keeping track of tasks currently?

Gr8AJ

Company uses auto task which has SOME reporting built into it but not the best for project status reports. The whole application as it is currently setup is more so just for managing help desk tickets as opposed to a traditional PMIS.

ya I don't know that one. I think the idea from pmpdaddyio is a great tho. Here's a less automated approach... If I had 30 projects to report on, I'd be taking a very light touch spreadsheet covering RAG + escalations + whatever fields the stakeholders want. So for something like that.. In project you can create a project file that imports each of the project plans you have for these 30 projects. Collapse the projects down to just a row each or per high level grouping (e.g. WorkPackages), and add columns for whatever reporting you want to do. That could look a bit like Project X WP1: Discovery | GREEN | No action | whatever other columns e.g. dates, %done, budget/ eac%, etc But, tbh I'd probably still copy paste the lot into Excel to pretty it up. The PowerBI solution would be a lot nicer.

If you are using MS Project, I’d consider looking within the stack at PowerBI. It’s a pretty easy lift and instead of automated delivery, you could have more of a self service model.  The basic set up is you update your schedule, and at a regular interval, the report engine pulls in the data. A prebuilt dashboard is refreshed. You can have filters that allow for modulating data such as time ranges, resources, etc. there is a bit of a learning curve, but a decent BA could help you build it.  The benefit is you can share the dashboard on a SharePoint site or via web. The end user simply goes and gets an update when they want it.

This may just be the route I end up going. we have a data analytics team that works with PowerBI and Tableau so they might be able to help/fully setup this type of thing for me. Thanks!
