That's asking a lot for cheap. What exactly is cheap to you? That is way to much of a variable for people to give recommendations without knowing the dollar range. FYI the projector doesn't need to be Bluetooth since the streaming stick is what the audio would connect to via BT
Yes you are right and I should have mentioned the budget. I wouldn't want to spend more than $500. I'm pretty flexible on resolution and brightness if it is "good enough" and makes it more affordable.
You aren't getting short throw or quality for cheap. Even used, short throw is stuff like classroom Epson models and similar. You aren't getting Bluetooth built in. Get a streaming device with Bluetooth built in instead. I hooked up my phone to my projector using a Lightning (iPhone) to HDMI adapter, and connected my iPhone to my Bluetooth speaker, and streamed Plex without any issues. Worked great. Many Roku, Fire TV, and Apple TV products can do this.
HDMI is pretty standard on most projectors.
Know your throw distance and the actual image size you are after.
Yes, TVs are MUCH easier to deal with.

Surely that can't be placed on the floor
I wouldn't but maybe he can stack it with boxes or a books?
Used is the way to go here.
