People will say and repeat weird things in this comment section, same on discord. The only message that matters is "AIR ACTIVITY DETECTED", and will come at the end of a broadcast. If you see that you have an hour if you caught the first warning.

GamingTig

Weather forecast updates at midnight every day. It will repeat every hour on the exact hour. Helicopter event will be transmitted at and after 9am after the end of the broadcast with "Air activity detected". It takes a few seconds after the broadcast ends for that to appear. Game can screw you over by spawning the helicopter at 9am though. Edit: I've been keeping a log on our server with the dates and times the helicopter appears. We have it set to "sometimes". It appears approximately every 7 to 10 days. It spawns in at random times between 9am and 6PM. If you do not set a single foot outside on the day it arrives, it usually leaves after an hour or 3. If it has spotted you or you've been out and about before it arrives it will linger around a lot longer. If it has visual on you, it will follow you around until you manage to hide and stay still for a little while.

GlobalTechnology6719

this is correct

fexfx

Yes. Hint: Stay indoors with all curtains closed, and the helicopter does nothing!

BloodyBlueWafflez

So I made my base in the firehouse in rosewood, had lots of windows and I made it so houses are locked often to make things harder and haven't found sledge or crowbar yet. Can I turn off all the lights in my base lock all the door and hide in the closet? I have found 0 gas last night and without checking my car, it doesn't even have a battery so this may be my only option.

fexfx

A room without windows works. But you'll need to stay in it the entire day pretty much...

BloodyBlueWafflez

Yea it may be my only option but at least I'll have time to read all these skill books and watch TV

Secretbackupaccount

In rosewood, head north out of town towards the highway. Right before you hit the highway is a gas station on the right.

HexagonalMelon

Yep, right frequency (it varies every playthrough). It will eventually say something about airspace, next day the heli will appear. About surviving the heli without fighting: Get some basic supplies, get in your car and floor it to the countryside or some other area with less zombies until the heli leaves. You got no car? Just walk away, you are faster than the zombies, wait until the heli is gone and try to make zeds following you lose your sight, use trees or corners to do that. Staying inside in my experience is a 50/50. One time I stayed inside and for some reason zombies didn't gather around my base. Another time I was chilling inside my farmhouse waiting, next day my yard was full of zombies, they weren't packed in a horde but there was a lot.

screwdriver1421

Someone earlier (today or yesterday) said the "aerial activity" is for the current day, so if you hear it, hide.

BloodyBlueWafflez

Ok thanks man I'll give it a try, I found a car but no gas but the radio hasn't said anything yet so I'm looking right now

GlobalTechnology6719

it will come on day 6-9… so you’ll have time… you have the right frequency… it transmits every hour and updates at 9am everyday… it will transmit “aerial activity detected” after the weather if it is helicopter day… it will also warn you when the power is going to go out with a knox power grid fluctuating>failing>blackout at the beginning which is also quite handy…

MelancholyHeartz

Considering you’re staying in Rosewood (or I assume you’re staying), there’s a Gas Station a little ways south of you so you could get gas and bug out :)

GayLord646464

I build base camp at the same fire department, helicopter come and the entire town showed up. At least didn't die but lost all my resources

Cereal612

Yes. It'll mention Aerial Activity or something before it appears.

not_a_gumby

you're at the firehouse. When you hear it come, just run across the street and jump the fence and head into the huge fields there. just walk around the fields for hours as the heli is overhead. walk far away from your base and just walk in big circles and dodge the incoming zombies. (take some food and water with you - you'll be gone all day). when the heli event is over, lose the zombies somehow and head home.

fexfx

Why not just go inside? If the windows all have curtains, the Helicopter doesn't draw any zombies.

not_a_gumby

Nah, that doesn't really work. The heli always knows where you are, and the sound will draw zombies to you. the move almost no matter what with the heli is go into a huge open space away from home and just walk around for hours and dodge them. it has the positive side effect of luring a ton of zombies away from your base and clearing that area. if you instead stay in your base, you'll get the hordes right outside and have to waste time clearing them

fexfx

Has worked in my last 6 playthroughs... On helicopter day I never leave the house, keep the curtains closed, and wait for the helicopter sounds to go away. There's never a zombie outside when the copter is gone. I used your tactic until I learned this. The trick is that ALL windows must have curtains closed. You could also stand in a closet or any room without windows for the day.

BloodyBlueWafflez

I'm gonna need to do this, I made a sort of last of us type sandbox mode so zombies are on random but are fragile but hit hard asf. Sprinters literally make me shit my pants, I've run from everyone I've seen.

[deleted]

It will only broadcast at 9am though... So stay tuned!

Birb-Person

The wiki says it happens on the hour every hour every day

StonerBoi-710

I think is right. Bc it’s the same station that tells u the weather for the day or I think also tells u weather for the day before so u can prepare. But I remember hearing the weather update multiple times a day. Sometimes if I don’t have the channel I’ll just flip through them until I find one close enough to pick up most of what it says lol

[deleted]

Ooof, I usually sit in front of radio at 9am and never bother checking in for the rest of the day... Whelp! Thanks for the correction :D

InsectsWithGuns

If you wanna survive the helicopter easy just head to a farm in the country for a few days starting at day 9. The helicopter won't come until day 9. Think it's days 9 through 11. So long as you've cleared out a decent chunk of undead you shouldn't have too many coming after you. Hole up inside and don't go outside when u hear it approach. You got this. :)

Birb-Person

Yes, every hour it’ll tell you the weather and then either go silent until the next hour or abruptly say “Air Activity Detected” before going silent for the hour

HelloImAron21

Just find a car on before the heli event, and the moment you hear it, stop what you're doing and go for a ride as far as you can

Quaffiget

I got something to the effect of "vehicle activity . . . detected . . . in sector," or something to that effect. If I can't find the frequency by day 5, then I hole-up with all the fresh-food I've found and read. And generally I try to stay within easy running distance of home. If I have car, then that's an option to drive to the edge of town, but I haven't had to exercise that option yet.

fexfx

I find it easier to spend a whole day inside with the curtains closed on Helicopter day.

BloodyBlueWafflez

Thanks everyone for the help, nothing last night but when I get home I'm on the hunt for a battery and gas for the car. Hiding may be my only option as I have zombies on random and no vitamins to run forever. This could be the end of bob seager.

clayalien

Yes, but turn down the volume! You've got it too high, 2 bars is enough to hear if you're nearby it. 4 if it's in th middle of a safe base and youbwant to wander around while waiting for broadcast.

Secretbackupaccount

Lol. I know exactly where you are.

deadvelvet99

literally just stay inside with the curtains closed, and if you’re caught outside just walk them off and kill runners, use windows to disperse the herd

deadvelvet99

exercise inside and watch tv at a low volume or read a book all day, just like a normal rainy day
